Praglik 1 | 2 3 Jan 2014 / #1Hello everyone !This is my first post here, although I'm a frequent lurker of this forum.I live in Poland since 11 months and moved in Poznań in december. I'm 22 but I'm not a student, I work here in a video-game company.I never had the necessity to take a driving license in France, but now it starts to be a bit complicated without...Do you think it is possible to find a good driving school in English in Poznań ? And what about the test, is it possible to get it in English ?I passed the first half of this driving license in France (we call it "theory test", I don't know if there is any equivalent here). I don't think there is a way to keep this and only do the driving test ?I searched extensively on this forum but could only find advices about Warsaw's schools, nothing about Poznań...Sorry if this question has already been previously asked, I hope you don't mind... Thank you !
Uglywoman 3 | 75 3 Jan 2014 / #2I wish you very very good luck on getting your driver licence, my dear friend :)My suggestion; if you can't do it in English, just guess the answers! If you don't pass the first time, you can try again :)And maybe you could ask at a driving school, does anyone speak some English here. I'm sure someone knows English :)
OP Praglik 1 | 2 3 Jan 2014 / #3Thanks for the answer ! Indeed I can go door-to-door and try by luck, but I experienced many times during this holiday season something I didn't experienced outside Poznan in Poland : when you don't speak polish, they try to make you pay higher prices. That's why I came here, to be sure to find some honest and legit place :)About the final test, I believe there is an examinator driving with you and giving directions to follow. I'm mainly concerned about this guy : if he doesn't speak english, how can I succeed ?
Uglywoman 3 | 75 3 Jan 2014 / #4Hi my friend, ah that's very horrible that they try to make you pay higher prices. I do not live in Poland and I have never been there but I cross my fingers for you very tightly, that someone can answer you...Wow that's a very good point actually. You know what? Some vocab books about Polish language have some sections especially about directions and driving. Maybe you can look for a book like this, I had one before but I lost it, otherwise I would tell you. Or maybe someone can do the test in English, wish you best of luck because it seems you need a licence now.
Sparks11 - | 333 3 Jan 2014 / #5Just use Google. I found this one in 0.29 seconds: oskarkadia.pl. There are, of course many more. They do charge few hundred zl. more for the English course but come on... You're in Poland and getting driving instruction in a foreign language, I think they deserve a bit more money for that :) As far as getting credit for passing the theoretical portion in France, I doubt it. I switched my American license years ago but still had to pass the theoretical test in Polish. They don't make you take the practical portion (thank God) if you already have a license from a different country. If you can't read Polish very well, you will need a certified translator to go with you to take the theoretical test. Honestly, it's not that difficult though, I got a study packet with a CD which had all of the questions on it, just go through it a couple times and you should be able to pass, if you know a bit of the language.
Uglywoman 3 | 75 3 Jan 2014 / #6Wow, Sparks, that's a great suggestion! I am sure that Pragnik or whatever his/her name is will succeed!!!!! :) :) :)
Klo 1 | 21 3 Jan 2014 / #7You will have to do your theoretical again regardless. I was fully licensed in Canada but still had to write the theoretical test to switch to a Polish license.Don't go with a translator it is a waste of money, especially if you have to take the test a couple of times like I did. I was originally going to have to do that in Rzeszow but found that Tarnow offered the test in English. They should have it available in Poznan as it is a much bigger city. The books I studied with were from sklep.sphcredo.pl.
OP Praglik 1 | 2 3 Jan 2014 / #8Wow thank you everyone!Indeed I will try to go with your advice Sparks, I already found this one but it may be worth it. I will ask there if I may have a translator with me, but in the meantime I'll go for the books you linked, Klo, they seems quite useful.Thank you all ! If anyone hear of a great english driving school around Poznan, do not hesitate to contact me by private message :)
