Are Poles good enough for USA (to go there without a visa)?

What does it mean that, for the additions to their visa waiver programs, US is said to target "new countries that are cooperating with the United States on security and counterterrorism matters"?

Could you provide source? The sentence doesn't quite make sense. I do know that cooperating with the US in counterterrorism is supposed to be a requirement for being included in the VWP. Which Poland has been doing.

not that of some lobbyist group in the US

But ALL of US politics are based on the demands of lobbyist groups. I thought everyone knew that.

It must originate in Poland by the Polish Government. Poles should be petitioning their government.

That's what I meant. The Polish government has to change things via the official channels, not some group/ newspaper somewhere in the US.

But ALL of US politics are based on the demands of lobbyist groups.

But not when it comes to foreign interests (at least not in theory...). The AIPAC that I've mentioned is the only exception I'm aware of that openly interferes in American politics on behalf of a foreign nation; a.k.a. Israel.

Yes, but AIPAC does it openly, whereas with the others, you have to know what to look for to see that they do as well. ;)

Poland or the EU probably requested the US not to grant visas to Poles. They probably wanted the Poles to supply Europe with qualified low cost labor. There is a huge population of Poles in the US so assimilation is relatively easy. If Visas were available, Poles would have gone to America. There's no reason for the US not to grant visas to Poles.

Oh, yea. Polish government has to be told of an exact number of soldiers it will have to send to the middle east to make that deal.

I have found something like this on the web. It shows US B-visas refusal rates by nationality.

travel.state.gov/pdf/FY11.pdf

The data is from 2011, so pretty fresh. It looks like Poland does not stand out significaantly among other EU countries. What's more interesting, refusal rate for Poland in 2011 (10,2%) was lower compared to Slovakia (16,6%), Slovenia (14,4%), Lithuamnia, Latvia, Estonia, Hungary (31,1%), those CEE countries that do not have to have visas to US. Moreover, rate for Poland was lower than that for Germany (18,6%), Finland (19,4%) or Belgium (13,7%) or France (23,9%) and Italy.

Or maybe I misunderstand something from that table.

Im from the United States my freind. There's no way in hell you're getting in this country without a visa, unless you want to jump borders like mexicans and risk being shot or locked up (NOT meant to be racist, but it's the truth.) And yes, the Polish are accepted into this country like everyone else. America is like an equal oppurtunity employer.......without stability. But I love it. If you makeit here, Welcome to America, and enjoy your stay. Ya dig?

No VISA no problem:D Couldn't they just come over uninvited, kill millions of the native population, steal their land and claim the country for themselves? Oh, and then close the doors to other immigrants...

Isn't that the normal way of doing things? It worked once before:D:D:D

Well.............that's an option................If they want to get blown the f*** up into pieces, why not? *applause* I mean think about it. What is Amerca? Alot of the American population consists of Immigrants anyhow. My ancestors came here from Ellis Island. That Native American stuff you talk happened way before then.

The first thing I said wasn't intended for a specific country. It's the truth. After all, that's the way things work, right?

[quote=Meathead]It doesn't make sense that Poland is treated differently by the US. It must originate in Poland by the Polish Government. Poles should be petitioning their government[/quote

Oh my God, AMERICA IS NOT TREATING POLAND ANY DIFFERENT. YOU NEED A VISA TO GET INTO THE UNITED STATES. AMERICA DOESN'T DISCRIMINATE. YOU NEED A VISA. IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY, AND IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE. Unless.....wait a minute.....you CAN take a flight over here to visit, and stay, but if you do DO NOT let anyone know you're here illegaly. Marry someone with American citizenship in order to get your green card. I'm only giving you advice............whether you get caught by immigration and deported back to your country is on you.

Or I'm just young and relentless.

Judging by your comments you’re young and naïve. Mind you that’s not your fault, it’s simply the consequence of the propaganda you’ve been fed on over the years and wholeheartedly believe in but the petition itself should be directed at Polish government forcing it to implement reciprocating policy towards the yanks visiting Poland, similar to what Brazilian government did a while back.

Lox:
Last time I checked, thirty-six countries — including most European nations as well as countries such as Brunei, Australia and South Korea — can travel to US without a visa.

The real reason Poles cannot come to USA: In 1929 Congress passed a racist anti-immigration act: to restricted the number of people coming in from all eastern european countries.

That gap meant that all the people from russia, Poland baltic states, georgia, bulgaria etc.... was restricted to 150,000 per year!
In 1965, congress passed another act, to let minorites into America. It did not view Poles or any other ethnic Eastern European group besides Jews as minorites!

So basicly the 1965 "anti-racist" act, did nothing to undo the racism against non-jewish eastern europeans!
That is the hypocrisy of America.
And when the blacks came and rioted in Detroit, and burned down the Polish businesses, they were in support of racism!

There was never an apology from America for its racist views towards Poles. Jews in America can frequently refer to the Poles as "anti-semite" and tell Polish jokes without any criticism or being frowned upon!

There is no Law in place that protects Poles as a minority in America, and the 1929 Law still stands as well as what is known as "anglo-saxon common law" which means that when you are summoned in any legal matter (including the recognition of educational credentals) you are under the same assumption of White-Anglo-Saxon protestant America when the country was founded!

When you go to a court in USA, and say "I am exersising my freedom of religeon" you are getting permission from a WASP court system, thus acknowledging the court as authentic!

When you go to court, as say "I am exersising my freedom of race" you get getting permission from a WASP court, thus acknowledging the inherently racist court!

The entire war in Iraq, is imperial!
This is imperial law, hidden under the falucy of "multiculturalism!"
Rome was a mulch-cultural empire, that recognize one culture as superior!
That is the fallacy of the court, if you have to ask to get some kind of beneficial gain on the behalf of race or religion, you are recognizing your disposition, and thus your deformity!

The 1929 Statute that the basis for this law was race, it was put into practice, and it was never repealed!
Prove me wrong... I do not have to prove, what is already common knowledge!

Poor wuss... :)

Yes, poor wuss.
A jew can play the anti-Semite anti-racist card, because he or she is a blatant racist and does want to associate with those "poles."

and it is like they are so anti-racist. they have their own apartheid state!
there is nothing more frowned by the Jewish community for a Jew to live among Polish!
except maybe living with blacks!
Poor Jews!
Is their apartheid state not good enough for you?

I live in the US and what you are saying is nonsense. Nobody cares about Poles here, and why should they?

Why should the Jews get free immigration to America on the basis of race... and the Poles who were also discrimited against in the same way.... dont have the same immigration right?

Why has the 1929 racist eugenics anti-immigration law never been repealed for the Polish... but has been repealed for blacks, hispanics and jews?

if you think racism against polish is okay, then why is it not okay for Jews, Blacks and Hispanics?

Are you saying I am less?

Do you have Polish Friends?
Because the anti-immigration law of 1929 in still in practice against Poles!
AHEM!
Why is it okay for the Jews to have unlimited immigration to USA but none for Poland?
So you are against racism... so long as any ideas of pride, or love of yourself do not conflict with the current status quo?
Do you mind if when a Jew is saying Poles are anti-Semitic, he is really saying that he does not want to be associated with Poles(because in America the Poles are thought of as a lowly and rude people and the Jew upholds that view)?

No, but you are upset about a non-issue. This has been discussed before by the way:

It is not a non-issue, the 1929 Anti-Immigration law still stands!
How many times do I have to say it?
You have two options:
1: Acknowledge that the racist view of Poles America had in 1929 still stands, espesially in the Jewish community!
2: Or provide evidence that there has been an influx of Eastern Europeans since that time that exceeded the quota, which it never has since 1929!

[as in 150,000 full citizen, non marital immigration(permanent) of ethnic non jewish Eastern Europeans(coming from all Eastern european countries) in 1 year!(which is not that much)]

Please provide evidence of the contrary, that this statute given in 1929 under Eugenics AMERICIAN RACE LAWS, is not longer in place
Thank you... if you do I promise not to post again if the evidence is satisfactory!

How does the following list of countries that enjoy visa waiver fit into you racist theory, call1in?
Hungary, Iceland, Norway, Austria, Ireland,Belgium, Czech Republic, Latvia, Slovakia, Denmark, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, France, Sweden, Germany, Monaco, Switzerland, Netherlands, United Kingdom

I am not talking about visa waiver... but I am sure you forgot to add Russia to the list.
I am talking about the Quota, which has never exceeded 150,000 ethnic *non jews* eastern europeans,(that is from all eastern european countries) in 1 year!
that is rediculus!
So yeah, I mean it is racist!
Here is a good Quote for YA!

Hey,I just reported what he said.I was reading this thread I openned Onet and saw article about American ambassador.I thought it's funny coincidence and also that this might be useful information.
In my region (Silesia) it's not such a big problem since many ppl here have German citizenship and can go to US without visa
P.S.I'm so happy that I don't dream about trip to US.

(This is the American Ambassador "promising" that USA is not racist)
She has an easier time, as a German coming to USA!
By the way if you F with immigration as a Polak the Homeland Security will F-ing kill you!
If you do it as a Latino they wont care... and if you are a Jew, they will be afraid to put a finger on you!

Call1N, Lmao. Why is it that so many people want to come to this country? They spend at least 2 years here, and then say it sucks and they wan to go back home. The answer to that is beyond me.
