Just to be fair - there are actually still houses with no plumbing and outside toilets! My husband's distant family are one of them! It was really a shock when he took me to visit.

And in England and Australia.

We went hiking there 2 years ago and it is really beautiful. Why an M16? Doesn't Poland have it's version of "hillybilly"?

One american asked me, since the Polish do not have internet access in Poland, is it true that the Polish "spies" go to Western Europe or the US, print off the entire internet on sheets of paper, put it in suitcases and fly it back to Poland to study and store.

I laughed in his face and walked away.

A common one we get in Ireland is foreigners looking for leprechauns.

How about History I hear you say!!!!!?

Well, when at high school (1980-85) and one certain individual was winding me up with racism/racist remarks which I was ignoring, but I was seething inside. I only snapped when he brought up recent history i.e. WW II and said, and your gonna love this, 'So, we (the British & Alies) beat you people (Polish) and the Nazis during the war',...he laughs along with others, the others only laughed because they KNEW their history and were laughing at him. I turn round looking at him and said, 'Are you thick or just plain stupid?', he didnt like this, and thus he swung at me, needless to say I wasnt sitting on no laurels, he missed and I continued to kick the flying SH*T out of him, in front of our teacher who was a nun, in our Religious Education class.....(It was a catholic shool)

...the thing is, we where in the same class for ALL lessons, including history!!!! WTF

BTW, at the time, he was 6 foot tall +, played for the football/soccer team and me, 5 foot 2 inches, glasses and chubby......

Needless to say I earnt some respect that day, and the rest of my time at school went a lot better. Him, I see him from time to time and hes always a bit sheepish, me, laughing inside!!!

j :)

p.s. Ok, its not a 'whats the most stoopid Q. asked about Poland' reply, but it just go's to show that the majority of the questions asked are brought on because of ignorance, lack of knowledge.

My friend from Poland was asked (by someone in America) "Do you have cell phones there?"
She said yes.

So then the guy asked if they had electricity in Poland. To which my friend decided to reply "no"
then came:
"so how do you charge your cell phone?"

Hehe... Americans...you can't put anything past us :)

"so how do you charge your cell phone?"

She should have replied: "We rely exclusively on solar energy in Poland." :)

Haha...good one.
I'm sure there will be a question or two in her future that will enable her to give that response :)

Americans, and especially 'Canadians,' are the worst Polonophobic racists I've ever met. Hence is is highly probable that the question if there's electricity in Poland was being asked not out of genuine ignorance about Poland, but in order to ridicule the Polish woman in question.

Polonophobic? Give me a break. Americans don't have issues with Poles. If anyone says anything derogatory, it is an ignorant few who would be hateful towards anyone. And I highly doubt Canadians have a problem with them, either.

Oh, if I could live long enough to see the Poles being able to repay in kind to their numerous harassers - cowardly bullies and scum. But first the Poles need to learn not to turn the other cheek to any one. May the motto: 'Never forgive! Pay back! Wait patiently for your chance!' become essential part of our national psyche. My the stupidest question in Poland be: 'Is revenge a sin'? :)

The americans, especially canadians, are the worst denying liars I've ever met. He will crack to you his talmudic 'Polish joke' in which the Polish people are equated with excrement, and when you express your outrage, the bastard will swear that there's nothing racist in his 'joke,' that he respects the Polish people, and similar bull. You can deny till the doomsday, but the evidence of the american racism towards the Poles is overwhelming.

Hmm, why do you think all Americans are like that, though? Do you know that many nationalities have jokes targetting them? Why do you take it so personally? Almost every country (it seems like) hates Americans and has numerous jokes about us, even on this forum, but I'm not going to sit around and become bitter about it.

You will have to provide some stronger evidence than just jokes.

do you care to give an example of this canadian racism - I am really curious now.

I think you are not for real:)

You really seem to have an inferiority complex. Who is so concerned about Poland or the Poles in general? When you say 'repay in kind' that is quite aggressive talk.

Did you walk straight through the redneck heartland? Most people in the cities of America and Canada have a respect for the Polish people. I mean we have ******* parades for God's sake! We've got statues of Polish airmen all across NY and NJ. Detroit, Chicago, NY, NJ are all places where there are tons of great places for the Polish built by, you guessed it, the evil cold hearted americans :) Come on......how about you meet every single person before generalizing :)

In England too, we have a strong and thriving Polish community. We have burial sites for the Polish as well as statues and memorials for the Polish dead of World War 2. In Ealing and generally that western area of London there is a thriving Polish community with their own shops and churches.
