Poland wants to be the Trojan Donkey - everything to please the NSA and the torture practices in Szczytno. And still you have to face an idiotic, imbecile US official at the imbecile US Embassy -and still that same imbecile turns down your visa application. Btw I am mystified why anyone, anybody would like to go to the US voluntarily.

I agree, if you are looking for money then go to the UK or Germany. Why try the US where the risks outweigh the rewards?

True a bit however in this case I don't get it- why not judge it by the number of ppl that overstay?

When you care only about your citizens and don't care about foreigners at all, then it's a good system. It's more effective than what you suggest. I think that one way to judge people by their behavior and still have low number of overstays would be introduction of GPS handcuffs. The same which are used for some criminals now. 800zł Visa fee should be enough to cover its cost.

Oh yea, Lenka, I'm worried they'll overstay! Or they will not. The Polish people I know think they have an inalienable right to leave whenever they're good an ready. :)

WTH are you talking about, Monitor, GPS trackers??

Would that be one step out of 39?

[moved from]

Trump makes it easier for Poles to come to the USA.

In a brief statement the President told reporters on Friday that he had signed a document giving Poland a full visa waiver, meaning Poles will now be able to travel to the US for business or as tourists for up to 90 days without a visa.

That's discrimination!!!! He should allow all 7 billion to come here forever and immediately sign up for welfare, obtain citizenship and vote next November. Plus, 10k a month of free income for life.

I read that the feds have a large number of 100-dollar plates and printers stored away at Fort Knox for just such situation.

Now, if anyone here thinks that I finally lost my remaining two brain cells, don't be stupid. My two cells are fine. I just paraphrased the 2020 American fascists' election platform. Maybe not word for word, but close enough.

Long overdue. Not signed off and delivered yet, but has to be good - what do the Americans want in return?

A big shiny new wall along the Mexican Border:)

I don't care about getting anything in return from Poland and other Americans don't care as well. Its not a green card or citizenship, so big deal.

Poles in Chicago are happy, but still suspicious of the govnt.

Only one thing: go home when the time is up.

As from November 11th, Poland is now included in the US Visa Waiver Program:

For what? For including Poland in this visa weaver BS? Is that even worth anything? The US wants cash - some billions for appease Jewish extortionists plus some fortune for a crappy and overpriced piece of military technology that won't be even fully owned by Poland. A truly crappy deal.

Those PiS morons in gov should ask me to form a negotiating team and to sort out their obvious lack of diplomatic acumen as well as direction.

Is that even worth anything? T

Well the visa operation probably had been operating at a loss (visa fees are one of the sources of funding for diplomatic services) so why maintain it? In PR terms I think it was kind of a dud though... it just isn't as big a deal as it would have been 15 or even 10 years ago.

PiS morons in gov should ask me to form a negotiating team and to sort out their obvious lack of diplomatic acumen

Yes, "diplomatic acumen" is your middle name!

All depends on whether one beliefs official statistics. According to USA numbers Poland simply didn't exceed the limit for the first number. So nothing to do with diplomacy.

Another thing is that officials could have been told to go easier on the visa refusals

There was an article explaining that several large companies (one being Lot IIRC) were sending employees to the US on 'official' business to manipulate the numbers.

I remember when there were long lines outside the embassy waiting to pay the visa application fee and those disappeared a long time ago, so less revenue...
Lenka  5 | 3501

I know LOT was campaigning for people to apply for visas if they know they will get it (even if they didn't need them) to push the numbers.

What I was talking about was the American side. If visa waiver was supposed to be pay for buying American equipment e t.c. then they had to do something to help the numbers. So the only way I can think of is to tell the embassy employees to go easy on the applications

But you are right that the interest dropped dramatically over the years.

Btw- thank you for not picking on my lousy grammar, misspelling e.t.c. - I post in a rush from my phone and it has it's impact.

Well

Thank you. It was a rhetorical question. However I do appreciate your input and I must admit you put it al together really nice.

"diplomatic acumen" is your middle name!

I'm sorry if PF is an extension of your real life. For me it is a place that I can put my hair down after a week of smiling butt kissing ( is a metaphor for those who want to jump in on me or are slow) and holding back.

So, yes I'm sure I would have done a better job. Not that hard given the record of the Poland's gov thus far. In fact all Poland's gov starting from 89'.

According to USA

lol! As they would tell you what it really was about. The point is consecutive gov of Poland done absolutely nothing to make it hard for USA to justify or to make it painful for it. They just rolled over and begged just step on me.

The Polish people I know think they have an inalienable right to leave whenever they're good an ready. :

or not leave at all. First of Poles are descends of nobles so no American peasant will tell them what to do.
Second of USA own Polish people for selling it does the river after WWII into Soviet slavery if not for that fact nowadays Americans would immigrate to Poland in their droves.

Last by not least. At least Polish people are modest and not assuming. Here the Irish attitude towards USA:
"This land is your land, this land is my land From California, to the New York Island" lol!
enjoy!
Well F stop - stopped posting years ago but still his F attitude was always lacking.

I think it's a good idea. Let's hope the bill doesn't die in committee.

As far as I recollect, before a proposal is passed by the Senate, it requires a 2/3 majority. Anything short of a filibuster, if it doesn't pass muster and is subject to even longer debate, it certainly could die in committee before it even sees the House floor.

I try and keep up with these things and so if there's stuff I've missed and the proposal's been approved by both chambers in both countries, it will probably become a reality by summer '20, if not earlier.

It you are talking about Poland joining visa waiver it came to life on 11th of November. Of course most people travelling in the next few months will still have one as most apply few months before the journey

I didn't know Poland was for sale.
Anyway, how much did the US get from that sale and how much do we owe Poland? You can round both amounts to the nearest trillion.

I would go along with that visa waiver as long as Poles post a performance bond of 100,000 dollars per to make sure that they go back home not later than 3 years after their visas expired.
Ironside  50 | 12375
23 Nov 2019 /  #58
how much do we owe Poland?

about 15 trillions dollars.

I would go along with that visa waiver

Well, why don't you shove it where the sun doesn't shine? Those with dough don't need it. Those without it don't need it either. I think only some Polish politicians are hungry for it, they want to show to their electorate that all this effort, licking boots and billions spend on USA has some positive effect on their constituency lives. Twats.
