From BBC News...

Ha the BBC reports that in friggen Poland but completely ignored the 50,000 marching through central London last year opposed to austerity. If it suits BBC's agenda it makes the national news...

A nice picture from Radio Poland of the march in Nowy Swiat. Didn't someone on here say something about a handful of drunken foreigners?

Those who support its are traitors.

Or just sour losers who can't accept PO loss.

Why i get impression that is Poland vulnerable? Is it because of Polish politicians and politics?

Here's a link to the vigil tomorrow evening outside Jaro's house. Just a few minutes' walk from Metro Wilsona and the gathering has official permission.

Absolutely beautiful.

Absolutely beautifu

Isn't it. I just saw the very end of it (I had something on today which wouldn't have been appropriate to cancel) but it went peacefully and was dignified - such a contrast to the pseudopatrioci with their flares and masks. We saw quite a few families making their way home.

Don't forget that a lot of people are expected at the candlelit vigil in Zoliborz tomorrow evening.

ex-pat bars

As far as I know there's only one and I don't go there. In any case, I doubt the 50,000+ Poles who came out on the streets to support democracy would fit inside.

A nice picture from Radio Poland of the march in Nowy Swiat.

They certainly don't look foreign, more like a group of lost people who instead of watching "Taniec z gwiazdami" went for a walk.

Here are some of the 50,000 (didn't the police say 70,000?) singing the national anthem by the president's residence.

didn't the police say 70,000?

Nah, there was over 100,000 people, trust me.

All in all, today was a great success and definite the beginning of something. This covered the situation well:

Duda swore in the PiS-backed judges in a hasty late-night ceremony. Legal experts have condemned Duda's handling of the saga, accusing the president -- a trained lawyer -- of violating the constitution.
"My freedom and everybody else's freedom is in danger," said Bartosz Kaminski, a man in his forties.
"Communism fell 26 years ago and we thought we would be free ... we have to fight again," he said.
The march was called by a spontaneous civic movement called the Committee for the Defence of Democracy and was attended by the leaders of opposition parties from all hues of the political spectrum.

Over 50,000 were on the streets of Warsaw (police are reporting 70,000)

The organizers themselves claimed 15 thousand, so in reality most likely 3-4 thousand.

50,000+ That earlier number was estimated early in the day before most people turned up. There were so many people arriving that it even delayed the start.

One in the eye for the Kaczynski gang who must be licking their wounds somewhere, and interesting to see what will happen with his moherowe berety and pseudopatrioci tomorrow.

But the opposition likes 50.000 version :-)

moherowe berety

I have actually seen loads of them in the pictures from today's march

So do the police evidently, though they have estimated 70,000. The start of something big here.

50,000+

I haven't seen a single picture with more than roughly 1000 people. Likely PO members, majority of them.

Normal people, I suspect few are members of anything and you'd need to see a pretty bizarre photo to include 50,000+ people.

It was an amazing turnout and a great day for democracy in Poland.

a great day for democracy in Poland.

You mean they are calling for early elections ?
jon357  73 | 23224
12 Dec 2015 /  #140
There certainly may be early elections depending on how things go over the next year, however the thousands of people who came out today are not (yet) calling for that. Have you seen any of the TV coverage? It's impressive.

It really looks like Jaro doesn't have a Plan B at all...

Again. Source ?

I'm not sure your PO buddies would be too happy about it. It's 17% and going down :)))

Have you seen any of the TV coverage?

I don't watch TV but I've just checked Gówno's website, they have interview with some moron standing on the street and half of the people behind him are not even participating in that strange event about nothing, they are just... passing by.

At least 50-60k. I was there. Anyone else was there?

At least 50-60k.

Did you count them ?

It's impressive.

Nobody is going to remember that in a week time. Even now everybody is only talking about Poland being in a group with Germany for Euro 2016.

Did you count them ?

Yes, but he lost the count about 10.000 times that's why he estimates 50-60k

Anyone else was there?

I was there. From where I was there were too many people to count accurately. But the crowd of Varsovians alone seemed bigger than the massed forces of the neo-nazis nationwide managed to put on the streets of Warsaw last 11 November (with months of notice). I don't know what the other cities in Poland managed.

There was an idea of Polish striking in UK against the popular opinion among the locals that we are lazy and come to UK only for benefits. Just google it and read Brits commenting about how we are ungrateful and we should leave if not happy. Now since Poland is not another muslim state(like UK) they're all being vocal. Shows how much hypocrite and liars liberals are. Pathetic.

Anyone else was there?

Just at the end (it was that lunch today) and it all looked amazing.

Funny to see the usual suspects licking their wounds and trying (but failing) to snipe bitterly. Every word they say is so utterly predictable and banal.

I just watched an interview with a 97 year-old who attended (lots of older people there) who was talking about the last time she came out on the streets to support democracy and how she doesn't want to see something eroded that she long fought for.
