Michnik has always been careful about serving his ethnic compatriots and dispropotioantely staffing his paper with them.
His ethnic compatriots meaning Polish people. Perhaps explains why he rejected, for example, an American for the job, though doubtless there were other reasons and as with the Chazan issue, quality, respectability and sanity are always issues.
He's a great man, and significant that the newspaper he edits sells many more copies among Poles than the one you took the original post from.
