It was a time when the Catholic faith reached a high point, much like when JPII died. Poles should honour that sentiment.

Britain is not Poland.

Seanus... and you want go back to Scotland? You fit here in Poland perfectly ;)

I dont think all of what Seanus has stated is the absolute truth of his opinion :)

So you suggest he is hidding something from us? ;>

Actually he always supported Kaczyński, and was PiS oriented.
After the discussion in threat about Antitheism he seems to be really spiritual person who defends religion and Bible... so I dont see here anything which can't be Sean's thought. It seems everything here fits his ideas perfectly.

So in what point he is dishonest? ;)

I'm not an advocate of the Catholic position. I just feel that, as an outsider, leaving the cross there causes no harm as it's like a tribute to LK. I've never been a fan of PiS and their homophobic, Stone-Age agenda. The cross will be switched for sth else anyway.

tribute to LK

Like the Nelson Mandela statue??

Did it have diamonds on it? ;) ;) Or did Naomi Campbell steal those too? ;)

Always supported LK? LOL

OK, why the heck we just don't put in front of the palace a statue like the one of Sam Houston?

IS THAT GONNA BE ENOUGH?

Once more ,because people display religious sings and all doesn't mean that is about religion.
So, kindly stop discussion because is out of order and stupid and irritate me.

As for their (demonstrators) fanaticism, they simply lack ability to express themselves in a different manner.
However, their concerns are real not made up - yet nobody even attempt to pursue this end of the puzzles.

Second point I would like to address, PO I don't care about their stand on the religious issue but as to governing abilities they are rubbish.

I would support them myself but their incompetency, corruption out right thievery and arrogance - make them indigestible in my eyes!
They are good in propaganda for idiots - as I do not hesitate to call that their supporters because its the truth (except those driven by self-interest).

Sean
Secular state ? What about British anti-Catholics legislation? Not to mention prejudices ?

That would surprise most people who've seen the rosary-waving protester.

They can vote - and the internet is full of them 'expressing themselves'.

You have a short memory, if you've forgotten how dreadful PiS were.

What about British anti-Catholics legislation?

Not to mention prejudices

Far, far fewer than these Ciemnogrod PiS voters, shouting racist slogans in the street.

That because most people could not have found their own ass without the map - and it goes for religious types and agnostics as well!

They can vote - and the internet is full of them 'expressing themselves'.

Evidently their are not satisfied with such activity you direct them to!

You have a short memory, if you've forgotten how dreadful PiS were.

At last they were less corrupted.

Oh? Can catholic become prime minister ?

Far, far fewer than these Ciemnogrod PiS voters, shouting racist slogans in the street.

Given the half the chance British mob would be somehow similar I gather!

for example - Edinburgh, United Kingdom, Nov 14, 2007 / 08:25 am (CNA).- Bishop Joseph Devine of the Diocese of Motherwell harshly criticized British Prime Minister Gordon Brown for failing to pledge the reform of Britain's anti-Catholic laws, The Times reports.

In a letter to Downing Street, Bishop Devine accused the Prime Minister of compromising his beliefs in justice, virtue, and respect, saying he had "broken faith" with Britain's five million Catholics.

The bishop demanded that "a firm timetable" be set to reform the 1701 Act of Settlement and that the government pledge that Catholics would no longer be victims of state-sponsored sectarianism.

The Act of Settlement was originally introduced to secure Protestant succession to the British throne by enshrining anti-Catholic measures into law. It forbids the heir to the throne from marrying a Roman Catholic.

In Scotland the law is seen as legitimizing anti-Catholic prejudice.

No it's not. The King or Queen is head of the church of England, church of Scotland ect. Would be stupid to have a Catholic head of a Protestant church. We have had a Catholic King since then ;)

I'm curios, do you care what religion is King or Queen?

Anyway its seems to me that you Scots have been tricked as Stuarts were kicked out by conspiracy of the clique.

Random thoughts:

I'm glad this nonsense about putting aside the conflicts in Polish society has ended. Poles (especially their politicians) know one game and one game only - all hate all the time. I'm ony surprised it took so long.

It's completely normal for Polish people to spontaneously light candles and put up crosses when some kind of tragedy occurs. It's not normal for such temporary tributes to be institutionalized.

The conflict, as the lines are now drawn, has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with a minority trying to impose their will on the majority (the polls I've seen cited show something like 70 % in favor moving the cross).

Kaczyński is probably not as corrupt as Tusk and Komorowski. I don't necessarily think that's good - if fhe can't look out for his own interests how can he look out for the country's? And many of the absolute worst heads of state have been incorruptible ideologues. Give me politicians with healthy senses of self interest (who realize the better off the country is the better off they are) any day of the week.

As I keep reading about it, I believe it's temat zastępczy to avert focus from proposal of rising taxes. From the beginning this whole "drama" seem silly.

Is he a real Catholic, though? I mean, come on, what Catholic doesn't recognise late-term abortion as infanticide? He converted from Protestantism to Catholicism because of his wife.

Also, I remember him in a Sky News video claiming that he was following the Muslim faith as he found it "interesting". That man must have inner turmoil given what the lives he has cost. He is a war criminal!

So we have one thing catholic that Sean approves ;)

They are generally anti-abortion but will grant it under 3 exceptions, the most salient of which is when the woman is raped. The second is concerned with immense stress and I've forgotten the third ;)

The second is concerned with immense stress

immense stress?? no kidding...

I've forgotten the third ;)

Don't remember what and you support it? ;D

..................................
I've just checked they accept abortion uder the same conditions as polish law allows for abortion:

-health risk for mother
-huge probablity that baby will be deformed or severely ill
-if the pregnance is caused by rape
Seanus  15 | 19666
11 Aug 2010 /  #330
I was actually more focussed on the first one, the rape exception. I had a running debate with an American fundamentalist Christian here. Talk about taking an extreme position.

The stress one also appealed to me as it has a central focus in criminal law, known as duress.

The third one obviously didn't hold much weight but I can remember agreeing with it :)
