Polish Independence Day March in Warsaw. Is it going to be the biggest march yet?

anyone who has the wrong impression about the march

So lets have a poll about it. I would like to bet that the majority of Poles of voting age are against such nationalist marches. After all, I refuse to admit that the peoples of my second home are racist bigots.

I am ready to put my money where my mouth is - can anybody set the rules and adjudicate?

What!, are you going to run a public poll in Poland, you will need a bit of cash to do that, If you are talking about PF you would struggle to find two or three "Poles" here who are residing in today's Poland. many here are stuck in 70's or even 50's Poland.

Does what I say make sense.

If celebrating freedom an independence sounds "confrontational" to you then you're already lost my friend

Spike - you sound very reasonable to me, and I love your country too. But flags and mass hysteria and chants, and the mob, just do not do it for me.

It's a shame that Poland didn't have such mobs in the 1980s - or rather - they did - but too few dared to join the shipyards and the miners. The result is that Walesa and his associates are ridiculed in modern day Poland even though they were so brave.

You really couldn't make it up.

So now celebrating Independence Day is called "racial bigotry". I wonder where that leftist Orwellian newspeak will take us in the future...

a public poll in Poland

Dolno - this march does split the country. For better or worse, you need to recognise that.

Independence Day is called "racial bigotry"

Only for those who do not understand our history and our fight against imperialist slavery, and it's true meaning as a celebration of freedom and not that of any victory over others .

"racial bigotry".

Sure. Poland for the Poles is racial bigotry. We used to have "England for the English", until the laughter got too much and such voices retired in embarrassment.

Sure. Poland for the Poles is racial bigotry.

You are talking about a MINORITY of Poles, similar to your EDL in the UK.

a MINORITY of Poles,

Really? Every single Independence day march slips into such an outmoded language. It's even the same in Gdansk - an anti PIS stronghold in the past. Any visitor or private investor could be turned away by such language.

And only language or posturing it is. When people come here they realise that it is only a voice - a position of pride. And that pride is great, and right. But personal pride and values and politics do not mix, and all this is so archaic. Now everything is coming to the real crux of the matter, and the old cliche.

Does Poland want to be in Central Europe, or Eastern Europe? With PIS you get the latter. And socialism in a poor country that cannot afford to subsidise the undeserving does not work.

Dear and most venerable Polish sisters and brothers. Your Serbian brother have proclamation for you....

Go on Independence Day March in Warsaw in great masses and urge on your leadership to declare neutrality on global military alliances. Poland needs its independence more then ever. Make use of your independence, don`t subdue yourself to anybody.

We Serbs are with you

I know it's not exactly on subject but I couldn't resist posting this video of Polish boyscouts and girlscouts planting a huge Coat of arms of Poland with 100 000 trees (over 300 metres x 200 metres in size) to celebrate the anniversary of 100 years of Polish Independence.

Much more productive and far more useful than a bunch of bald naked men marching around Warsaw in the dark.

I can assure you that I'm not bald, and neither my girlfriend is, and we're going to march proudly on the streets of Warsaw on the Independence March this year :-)

I just don't get what anyone may have against patriotism and love of one`s country.
Just because you love your country,it does not mean you hate all other countries.

I just don't get what anyone may have against patriotism and love of one`s country.

I'm for genuine patriotism and love of one's country. That means paying taxes, being a good citizen, volunteering, respecting one's fellow citizens and more. I'm sure you'll agree that a good citizen should want the absolute best for their country, right? There's that famous quote by Kennedy - "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country" - I absolutely agree. Great patriots don't burn rubbish, don't drive like idiots in cities and don't cheat others. They behave with honour and respect at all times towards everyone - think of how many of those AK veterans in the UK behaved towards their new home, and you get the idea.

I'm absolutely against "weekend patriotism" where you march around after dark chanting stupid slogans while wearing the kotwica on your trousers while drinking cheap beer outside the local shop and spraypainting random idiotic slogans on walls while being drugged up on amphetamines. Those people aren't patriots, they're idiots who are one generation removed from chanting about how great the Party is while beating up the political opposition.

Because the brainwashing has not got through to you ( and me ). The globalists have convinced the gullible (pretty much overnight ) into thinking nations are a bad idea and need to be abolished immediately. Having an endless stream of people coming into the nation is one way to destroy it as the incomers could not care less about the nations history, traditions, achievements.

I wonder if there would be the same discussion every year if Poland just would make a party instead of a march that day...in every town and city and village...with music and dance and tasty food...just a good time to be had.

Excellent. PiS are doing a grand job of wrecking the country, as they issued nearly 1m temporary residence permits last year to non-EU citizens, and that number doesn't include FSU citizens who can come and work for 6 months without a work permit/residence permit.

a party instead of a march that day...in every town and city and village...with music and dance and tasty food..

That's exactly how it looks in most places. The bald 'patriots' all go to Warsaw to shout and chant about how much they love to be naked next to other naked men, while everyone else gets on with having fun and celebrating in a nice, friendly way.

Ah, another one that believes the propaganda of "women and children all happily waving flags" at the event.

Tell you what, do go there speaking English loudly. You can tell us all about your experiences with Polish hospitals afterwards.

Hahaha, look at the Western fantasists making up stories about their presence there.

By the way, from one of those videos, I can already see that it's deliberately mixed with pictures from different events. You really need to try harder with your propaganda.

Last two years I left town for that march but when I have seen it my guess is that about 30 percent of people are football hooligans, the vast majority of whom have been drinking. It is not as bad as it was maybe 6 or 7 years ago - mainly because Polish taxpayers are forking over more and more cash to police the event. It is certainly not a family event - there is a clear unde4current of intimidation, lots of bad language and drunken behavior. It is the last place I would take my kids. On the other hand I would not be too frightened speaking English there - I think there are whack jobs from Hungary and other neighboring countries attending these days.

Maybe they should have an alcohol ban just like when the Pope used to come. Problem is that November holidays can be depressing and that just punishes the normal people.

Unless you are a Socialist or Anarchist or both.....they see it as a threat.....

My mum is 74 years old, there were even older women there on there own ( on one occasion I saw some lads helping one out ), a lot of very young kids. Im taking my GF this year. It all depends on your interpretation of intimidated, if your scared of being around a few actual men who are ready and able to fight then yeah, but that probably says more about you than them.
