When someone has something that is different it makes people notice them. It may be any number of things, from the way they act, dress or their physical attributes. It may even be their accent.
For me (1/2 Scot's, 1/2 Irish) I find Polish women to be highly attractive. I got fed up of the attitudes of so many people in the UK/Ireland and the way so many people act with apparently no respect for themselves or others. So many of the women there dress for a night out as if they are going to work on a street corner for the night, and then drink until they fall over.
In Poland however they are classy in the way they dress and act, they look after themselves with regard to diet, exercise etc, they like to do things (activities, self-improving study etc) instead of just slumping in front of a TV for the night and are extremely ladylike - and that rates very highly with me.
As to what their attraction to us is? With the exception of our kilts and dashing good looks, I dunno!
Oh, I remembered - it is the Irish/Scots gaelic accent...! (See below) :-D

I'm 75% Scottish and 25% Irish. Opposites attract for sure.

Sweet Jesus, not you and all. Another walking talking maths equation. ;)
I can't help bloodlines, RN. Haven't you noticed that connection?
Cutting through the sex garbage. . . . . .
Last year I spent some time living in an apartment block with Poles. . . . . we used to pass each other on the stairs every day.
After a few weeks as I carried my beer up the stairs I said to Polish guy I knew as a regular. . . . .fancy drink?
Everything changed. . .. .along with that impressive line 'you're not like everyone else' - 'no, I'm Scots'
English v Poles - no contest :-)

Randal
Hi Randal. I'm new to this forum – and a Scot. I visited Poland for the first time this year – Poznan and Wroclaw – and was blown away. I had an absolutely fantastic time and fell in love with the country, the food, the people.
So much so that I'm about to launch an online magazine aimed at the Polish community in Scotland and Scots (and that means you!) with Polish interests, through family, friends, travel, business.
And you're right about the affinity between the Scots and the Poles. Did you know, for instance, that there has been travel between Scotland and Poland for more than 500 years? And that in the 17th century there were an estimated 40,000 Scots living in Poland? Or that an aberdeenshire man was mayor of Warsaw four times in the 17th century?
There are so many links down through the centuries it is breathtaking. Anyway, my mag should be due to launch in December, with a bit of luck. My email address is gercasty.mac@mac.com. Drop me a line if you'd like a look.
Cheers,
Gerry

Hi Gercasty and welome to the forums. Randy hasn't posted for a while but he may still be lurking.
Yep we do, just use the search facility in the top right of the screen.
Sounds interesting - keep us posted. In what way will it be different from the others that are about ?

Good luck on the launch.

A small break in a relationship really reignites the flame. My wife is such a loving person, even more so for having been away for a week. God Bless her!!
Scots and Poles are good buddies because we're the same kind of people – we work hard, play hard, like a drink. We're open, friendly, up for a laugh. What's not to like? I produce a monthly online magazine for Scots and Poles called Scotsbarszcz. It's completely and utterly free. Cherck it out at scotsbarszcz.com
Well put, gercasty! I really get on well with all kinds of Poles here. I can actually use cześć with many shop workers to keep the mood light and they are fine with that. Trevek promoted your magazine.

No gimmicks, please, simply red is here :) Scots and Poles make for a turbulent relationship but it's about understanding each other's fire. My wife will quite often say 'kurwa' in ostensible anger but that's just her way and she lightens up soon after. There is much compatibility really :)
Acctually his name was Hassling-Ketling of Elgin.
I'm sure it was i co z tego? I'd rather discuss real relationships.
Seanus: i co z tym?
i co z tego?nic.
Amateur amateur :( :( Out came the blunder!
God bless Scottish and Polish passion/pride!

Another thing that Poles and Scots have in common is highlanders.

Thanks for sharing :)
Yeah, we both have a great tradition in that respect. The Polish highlanders are more temperamental, it is said. Scottish ones are more patriotic in the main, they identify with the whole nation more.

By being themselves and saying their Polish, they couldn't be more patriotic :)
I would say there is more of a separation, Mr G. They identify more with their region than their country. In Scotland, we had a clan system across the country and that was a source of national pride. Polish highlanders aren't promoted enough, maybe only in beers like Harnas and Żywiec ;) ;)

To Scotland or to Britain?
For Scotland - the idea of "Britain" is alien to many.
do they look towards Gordon Brown or Alex Salmond?
Alex Salmond has achieved fantastic things in Scotland within the remit of the Scottish government - I can't wait until we get full independence.

full independence.
Personally i think it will be a sad day. a very sad descent for the once mighty British Empire, the country that in Niall Ferguson's words made the modern world.
Poles and Scotts can do bussines. I can imagine new free Scottland as part of future Slavic Confederation. Poland should offer protection to Scottland from English oppresores
