racist? i think it's not a matter of question where most people would prefer to live if they had a choice between Ireland and, say, Pakistan? if the guy loves his country so much then why don't he go back there? I'm being just about as much racist as he is, if you wanna put it that way.

You always take interest in these kinds of topics. Atleast 70% of the times, while I also do - but not in this frequency. I enjoy commenting on all race people, perhaps you do too ... but a little more intense and certainly in the opposite direction.

A person can love his/her native country and still prefer to live somewhere else. Do you have Poland? Then why do you prefer to live in UK? I have my friend from childhood who lives in the United States and have disastrous opinion about Americans (specially the women) etc, he is not a saint himself - a very wrong path he chose to earn money, however now he is in a better track.

He was (still is) an American passport expert. Gave his services to some immigrants, and often in heartbreaking ways (for me, it breaks my heart, for many its not even worth blinking).

I try to be fare ... I love my country and love to defend it spiritedly, but then, not unfairly.

These stuff, immigration/passport etc are applicable to some but not all. People are there who would still like to immigrate but not at the cost of their basic principles and values ... but others can do just anything, and that is regardless of race-religion or gender.

We have had some really lovable and old members of Polish forums who used to have a happy life and got curiosity about Poland due to nostalgia and a Polish partner ... and I know some very known names in here who got hurt badly due to "knowing whats on the other side of the veil".

However, the unfair and illiterate targetting of a certain society is wrong. It is always better to comment or think positively or negatively about people after knowing them well. Knowing their educational background, what they actually feel about their new country, and how much they value their principles ... before going ahead and declaring someone criminal.

Until the crime is proven, everyone are entitled to be seen as innocent.

It is a full lie that a careful (not paranoid) and sincere/patient look into anyone can reveal their true self. More importantly, if a person looks at another person free of all prejudices, color or creed or language or any other dividing issue ... in a very fare manner ... then it benefits knowing another person wholly on personality/character and reliability. Because then one is safe from saying outright "GUILTY" or "NOT GUILTY" to anyone, just because of what they see or what to believe about them.

Anyways, we all have our own right, our own choices ... and it is verily just a public forum.

I do understand if someone from Ireland felt later that Ireland was not their place, and came to another country - say Poland! Didn't return to their ethnic place, thinking that it is not a place for him ... even though perhaps he would wish those people well in life. Happens ... why to find a crime in it? Why have an eye filled with fire?

tell that to the Irish here in Chicago... I suspect this applies to countries more like Britain, France, modern generations in Italy, etc. You rarely see any of them here in the US as immigrants or first generations.

thanks for all the replies good and bad, my referral to scumbags which has caused a stir was down to the fact that less than 2 weeks ago my wife who is polish was mugged in city centre and the fact she is 8 months pregeant was a major worrying point and has shown me how low things have got now some here might call my comments racist or something else

who in their right minded mugges a pregeant woman??????????

that lack of respect for the police here and the fact it seems if you work hard pay your taxes play by the book you get crap in return.

i am irish and proud of it.
i dont see a future here for my wife and me and she has often said she wants to return home where in here words she feels safe

Learn Polish would be the main thing, it will make you less isolated and give you greater opportunities for other business activities.

By the look of your English skills, I am not sure you would make such a great English teacher, I am not trying to offend you, just an observation from the little I have read of yours on here.

Be polite, you start off by calling people (even from Limerick) arse holes, it's not very endearing, just check the responses you got compared to any other thread where the original poster says he is moving to Poland, we can be quite helpful on here, it all depends on attitude.

I am Irish, I have lived in Poland on and off for ten years, I really enjoy living here.
There are very many differences between our two nations,
Poles are quiet, loudness is considered rude.
There is not a pub culture, not the way we know it.
You will probably see a lot of stone faces, Poles do not tend to smile with their mouths but with their eyes.
Poles have no problem with eye contact, it is not a confrontational thing like it is in Ireland.
It is best to line up a job or a load of interviews before you get here, no point in coming here and then looking.

The list goes on, it really depends on what particular information you are looking for.
You can't get Barry's tea, Tayto crisps, a great pint of Guinness, the sausages and rashers are completely different here.
Eat local foods, the beer is great (be careful:), try to live in a city at first, the country side is even more Polish (I am in the countryside) and if you don't speak Polish and are not used to the culture, it's more difficult for most.

Don't be afraid, Poles reciprocate very well when approached in a friendly and genuine manner.

You will pick up a language from your wife very quickly , don`t worry . I know an English guy who has been married to a Polish wife for 4 years and they are moving this year to Poland to settle down . He has already learnt Polish very well ( basic ) , albeit passive , but only while living in England I agree with Sean BM what he has said about Poland and Polish people in whole . People are very friendly , not racist , kind and helpful ( if kindly aproached of course ) . Be patient :)

You failed in Ireland,its everyones fault but your own,so,you slag everyone off then pronounce you intend moving to Poland.
