Actually, that's what I have seen since I was a kid. All mothers worked. They do take the maternity leave and then come back to work. I could see stay-home mums (nothing wrong about it) only in American films.

Oh! I guess rebel was a wrong choice of words there given it can be taken in a negative sense. What I wanted to say was she is very strong-willed and independent. She doesn't take any **** from her dad/mom etc.

Syed...I think the ones you're meeting are a very bad representation. The ones who will leave Poland to go to a place like Dubai do that for a reason, they are not the norm to be sure. They are modern, empowered women, so the ones who are willing to go to a place like the UAE, where women are put in prison for being raped, or most recently a British citizen was imprisoned for spilling a drink on someone and touching their hip, the ones with dignity and self-respect won't go there. You'd have to go to Poland and meet real Polish women to get a better idea of what they're like. Of course the ones who goto a place as decadent as Dubai or Abu Dhabi will be materialistic.

Well this is all very interesting reading. I met my Polish wife just over 2 years ago and weve been happpily married for 1 year. Ive been married twice before. 25 years to my first wife whom I divorced, 3 1/2 years to my second wife who sadly died of cancer.
My Polish wife is a very caring sensitive lady, yes we sometimes have quarrels of which its usually due to family causing problems but hey who dosent.
I am an ambitious businessman who works very hard. My wife is always asking me to ease off a bit. Shes beautiful, caring, loyal, hardworking and dosent take advantage of any money we have. She keeps our home clean, she cooks fantastic and all my friends adore her.
I am a very honest and loyal man and care very much about other people. I would always help someone if i can. I guess im fortunate to have meet my Gosia and hope for a long and happy life together.
Much observation leads me to believe PL ladies do not get on with men who have sny kind of sense of humor. The more funny guy who likes to amuse himslef and others talking the more trouble ahead if you pair up with a PL lady. Oh, yeah they love to sit next you at a party, or maybe even date you. But marriage for them PL gals is a serious business of battling it out with their friend girls for position in the pecking order. So, your money high profile job social status matter, your conversation does not. Neither does your opinion or any kind of knowledge. Kindness, gentleness are kind of expendable too.
Another thing PL women are vociferously opposed to is any kind of charity work, or voluntary involvement in community. Dont believe it? Talk to anyone who ever tried to collect donations for a sponsored feat for charity among them. If you every try it yourself keep a cellphone handy to share their facial expressions.
