seancameron 3 | 4 14 Oct 2011 / #1I just rented flat in Ursynow, building build in 2000. The water comes out yellowish, red, and sometimes normal. Do u have this problem? is it common to Ursynow? i opened for an hours almost, and still...
magpie 6 | 133 14 Oct 2011 / #2Do you know if the flat sat empty for a long time?Is it the hot water?Does it have a water tank, or a gas combi/on-demand boiler?

db1874 7 | 227 19 Oct 2011 / #5Yes, seems a common problem in Warsaw with the hot water, the last week or too seems to have been particularly bad.
magpie 6 | 133 19 Oct 2011 / #6If it's the hot water, does it have a horrible rotten egg/sulphur smell? This will only be the case if the water has been sitting in the pipes/a tank for weeks and weeks, not if it is used frequently.
JonnyM 11 | 2608 19 Oct 2011 / #7Sometimes but not often. When they do maintainance or fix a leak it stirs up all the gunge, rust etc in the mains pipes. Nothing really to worry about. Just don't drink it.
magpie 6 | 133 19 Oct 2011 / #8It's probably just crap in the old areas of pipe. If the hot water smells like rotten eggs, it's a by product (farts) of a bacteria living in the stagnant water. They are only in certain water supplies and live of other properties in the water. I'd never heard of it here, but it is a known problem in some parts of the world.
db1874 7 | 227 19 Oct 2011 / #9it's just dirt from what I can see, it doesn't smell and the water is used regularly so hasn't been sitting in the pipes for ages and it's a modern building. I'm intrigued that's it always the hot water, are there different source mains supplies for hot and cold in Warsaw? I've been here for years and it happens all the time, the locals just seem to accept it.
magpie 6 | 133 19 Oct 2011 / #10the locals just seem to accept it.Herein lies the problem.If there isn't a honkin smell, then it won't be the fartybugs.
Wedle 15 | 490 20 Oct 2011 / #11It always happens when they turn the heating systems on this time of the year Nothing to worry about, just don't drink it.
