Polish tattoo ideas

So ive been tossing around a few ideas for a new tattoo and I want to get another polish one. I already have the polish eagle on my back (I seen an old thread where some people said this is a 'racist' symbol lol even though its the exact same eagle that appears on our flags, money, government buildings, military insignia, and is literally Polands coat of arms which every country has.)

Anyway some of the ideas I've been tossing around are as follows:

Matka Boska Czestochowska
A group of polish hussars riding, lances extends forwaes
A slogan like jeszcze polska nie zginela with perhaps an outline of poland

If anyone has any advice or perhaps an ideas for a polish tat please reply.

Go for something much less obvious - what about a tattoo of Emilia Plater? Even if we don't really know what she really did, she's still a great figure in Polish history. People will be fascinated by it as well, and she has such a great story - for me, she's the definition of Polishness.

Or perhaps one of Janusz Korczak, the Stary Wiktor, a true Polish hero and a very special person.

Yes, absolutely - the guy was ahead of his time. It's astonishing that we still haven't learnt much from him, and that Polish schools are still stuck in a pre-Korczak era.

Not just Poland, but almost every school in Europe except places like Summerhill and Scotty Road (both now closed) haven't taken on board his philosophy in full. Quite a few children's homes round the world have adopted his Children's Republic idea and that in many ways is his legacy.

He's always remembered for the circumstances of his death. People forget that he was once Poland's most popular radio broadcaster and one of the world's first television broadcasters.

And he's recognisable enough to make a good tattoo.

Or maybe a tattoo of Violetta Villas, one that wiggles her hair when muscles are flexed.

It's not closed! Summerhill is still fine, and A.S. Neill's daughter is still running the school.


Yes, that's why I think it's worth getting a tattoo of him. He was probably one of the finest citizens of the II RP, and wasn't it the year of Korczak just a couple of years ago?

He's one of the few people who no-one seems to have a bad word to say about.

True but if I were to go a historical figure id want to do hussars perhaps led by sobieski or perhaps pilsudzki. With historical figures its kind of hard to tell who that person is... I could tattoo Pulaski on my arm whatever and people would be like 'why is Napoleon on your arm'

Since its hard to tell oftentimes who the person is in a tattoo people usually chose something more intimate for those types of tats I.e. family say their daughters face or something and name below it.

Back in the days of the ussr prisoners would tattoo lenins and Stalin's face on their chests because they believed itd help spare them against the firing squad. Hardly any solider would dare to fire at or around a portrait of Stalin even if on a criminal.

I will look up janusz korczak though I'm embarrassed to say I don't know who he is.

Re. A Korczak tattoo, the main thing is that he's very recognisable. About being liked, I've met someone who knew him well and was rather dismissive of him, without saying why's a given the person's age, I didn't want to push it.

General Michał Tokarzewski-Karasiewicz would also make a good subject. A great Pole and much loved.

Pilsudzki too. An instantly recognisable iconic figure. Or perhaps the Czarna Madonna.

I'm not so fond of him, but it's a good idea nonetheless.

Maybe something like a white-tailed eagle (not the symbol, but the actual eagle) with "Za wolność Naszą i Waszą" below it? It's a beautiful phrase and sums up much of the romantic spirit of Poland, I think.

Would be nice but I already have an eagle lol. I do really like that saying though I could put it below my existing eagle.

I'm kind of leaning more towards czarna Madonna because I don't have anything regarding my faith yet and everyone has a cross, some reform Jews have the star of David, a few Muslims have the crescent.. Although I'm in love with the whole hussars culture history and traditions so it's kind of between those too but I'm open to ideas.

I definitely won't get one though with trump Kaczynski kopacz or any politician for that matter though lol...

Speaking of politicians Russia just released a $2500 Nokia made of titanium and gold plating with Putin and trumps side profiles and g20 written below.

There are many beautiful Madonnas from Poland. I like your idea.
There's also the option of getting symbols from our traditional Easter egg patterns, or from folk art.

You may have seen these already but there are several sites with photos and drawings.
