Polish Tattoo (considered the eagle)

Sorry if this isn't the right area for this thread. Also, I know there are many like it as well =P But anyways, I was thinking about getting a Polish tattoo. I'm third generation, and have really just begun learning about the Polish side of my family. As I learn more, I do feel very proud of my family and heritage.

I considered the eagle, however it looks a bit too complicated. The other tattoos I have are very simplistic, so I'd like it to go along with this. I was thinking of the Polska Walczy tattoo. Would this be a good tattoo? Is it offensive at all? Also, what does the anchor represent?

It is definitely not offensive. The anchor? Letter W as in Walcząca - Fighting.

The eagle doesn't have to be complicated:

The similarity to an anchor resulted from the creative development of the abbreviation PW (Polska Walcząca = fighting Poland), so the anchor motif is actually a stylised letter 'W'.

Just take your passport and have them do the eagle. It's striking and respectful.

I was also thinking of getting a tatoo of the Polish Eagle, it means something to me as my wife is Polish & its a 2nd home for me, havnt got it done yet though ;)

You should really consider this (where to put it and what type of Eagle it should be)
There have been different versions of the white eagle through history, also there has been made more "aggressive" versions too

There is only one Polish Eagle.

They'd probably have to do it in grey or just in outline, which might look ok.

I've got two "Polish" tattoos, the Armia Krajowa-anchor and a Pinup-girl in uniform, done in old school/traditional style with a banner that reads "Do Broni! W Szeregach A.K!" (To arms! In the trails/rows of A.K!")

Eagle is all right, but a bit too common as for me. I've never seen "PW" tattoo on any ones, and that's why I am considering getting one myself. It sends a strong patriotic msg plus carries a huge historical meaning. PW, hołd i chwała poległym!. It's sure way too go, but remember, don't do it just for sake's of doing it, it means a lot to some of us.

white ink is used all the time in tattoos

I'm glad you're learning about the Polish history before you get it. It's so frustrating when people get tattoos and they have no clue what they mean.

Several years ago I met this young punk who had a 101st Airborne tattoo on his shoulder.

Sort of like this:

So I asked when he served and he looked at me like, huh? So I pointed at his tattoo and he replied - oh I got it in Cancun because I liked the design, pretty cool, huh?

Unfreakin'believable!

The main aim of getting a tatoo is to stand out of the average crowd. One can achieve it with a really unique design.

If I was to get a tatto which nobody has ever had, it would be the red and white arm band tatoo resembling the one that Warsaw insurgents wore during 1944 Rising: I had never seen any of that on anybody`s arm.

The dumbest tattoo: I Love Janek. Or Franek. Or any bum that is here today and gone tomorrow leaving behind a beautiful baby and poverty.

It means Polish women are not dumb coz I have never seen a tatoo like that. :):)

Of course, it was wrong of us to think only about women wearing such tatoos. It is obvious that males also have the right to wear them. We mustn`t be so chauvinist.

I always thought it was because the individuals that get them have low self esteem.

Why do they tattoo the body parts nobody can see? Even the moron herself!!!!
All tattoo "artists" should be required by law to tell the prospective carriers how very unhelpful that "art" will be in getting a job or a husband.

Yes. I especially like when short skinny males wear tattoos of roaring tigers or agitated scorpions.


Tattoos are getting more and more conspicuous, in result gradually becoming a norm. I suppose these people know they will find a job they want anyway coz employers have already started to ignore tattoos as non related to business and focus on qualifications etc instead.

As for husbands, I can see more and more tattooed couples. A female who displays a tattoo in public seems to proclaim - I am looking for a similar partner.
