Polish pride comes through a sense of shared values and ID. Plastic Poles are welcome to join in on that ;)

No Seanus, no no no....I don't want any more Americans here proclaiming how proud they are of Poland (but they won't live here).

They won't live here because they have set up shop elsewhere, delph. Are you proud to be Scottish? Will you be going back there to stay?

Oh, don't mess up with well established dogmas here: being a patriotic Pole outside of Poland is a clear sign of backwardness.

I don't think it is though.

Bzibby was being sarcastic here, I feel. Wasn't that clear?

They should just announce one date as a general "remembrance" date - have a two minute silence on that day and no more. I'm sick and tired of seeing failures commemorated too -why the hell are people celebrating the Gdansk Agreements when the PZPR had no intention of honouring it anyway?

Probably because it dates the birth of Solidarity movement but i know what you mean.

Anyway, the young don't really care and the "old" are bickering amongst themselves about it. I'm somewheare in betwean and feel pity as it really is an interesting topic that is worth remembering. But Solidarność past 89' is a disgrace. Big Cyc said it the best in 1993:

I love the way history unfolds and the way people are expressing their views about it years later. Passing time puts such a different perspective on every event. Solidarity movement is a good example of that.

Bear in mind the Prussians, Russias and austrians nearly destroyed the whole polish race they tried to burn and destroy anything that showed that poland was a country in it own right they used propaganda to show the west that the polish were a disorderly band of rebels and nearly got away with it then in 1920 the russians tried to destroy them and europe. the film is a bit girly by the way but thats an aside. Then the germans and russians tried to destroy them in the second war world war. The polish are as a nation are generally unbeatable and thats why they should stay white they dont ever want to get to a point where they have to write happy eid on their christmas decorations, or take down their national flag because i t offends the non eu in the polish homeland. God help them if they ever become like the rest of the EU or US.

They are a nation of fighters not girls and homos they thrive in war situations.

I can't help but think that Polish people display their nationalism/patriotism far more than other nationalities! Maybe I haven't noticed others!

My only bumper sticker reads "Ron Paul 2012". :)

I wear the polish eagle on my backpack... and also have a tatoo of it on my upper wrist, below my pentagram tat. :D
