Reasons for moving to Poland

The reason to move to POLAND?...The sense of family...the really sense of friendship...beautiful countryside...good food...spiritual, simple quiet life...

Well, I've spent two years in UK and then moved back to Poland. To be honest, I don't feel like I belong here. Ok, I have my family here but I'm not really happy in Poland and consider going back to England. Poland might be lovely, but it's harder to earn enough money than in UK.

Sense of family: OK

Sense of friendship: OK

Beautiful countryside: No. Although the countryside is OK, it pales compared to many other countries (USA; Canada, UK, France, South Africa..) to name a few

Good food: hearty food, yes, but good? One eats better in many countries..

spiritual, simple quiet life: OK

hi to all:) i don't know were to move to work ether poland,germany,Luxembourg,france. my polish husband doesn't whant us to go back to poland he think's it's bad over there for money and work hes from gdansk so right now i don't know weres the best can anyone tell me or help me thanks

If you're going purely for work reason are to earn the most you can : Luxemburg
If you're looking to enjoy yourself and have the best quality of life: France

Really? Salaries are pretty much normal for the Benelux and tax rates are fairly high.

have you ever been there? do they have euros? and what about denmark? oh by the way im from ireland

Depends on the sector,but on average Luxemburg has by far the highest standard of living in EU (twice that in Netherlands, and more than twice in Belgium, and around 5 times more than Poland). Tax rates are high, but not higher than in Belgium or France, see:

The thing about Luxembourg is that it's very expensive, and if you're not involved in finance, your salary won't be all that great. On the other hand, unemployment is really low, but the market isn't exactly huge, and native french and german speakers are in ample supply on both sides of the border. For white collar work, Luxembourg is great. Lots of contracting opportunities available.

Hi shelly are you in ireland,? cos if you are. Ireland is so bad for work that we are moving our family to poland the end of jan. We know that we will have much less money in poland but still have a lot less out goings so as someone in a similar boat since your husband is polish I would move to gdsank and for the record my husband is dragging his heels about moving back to poland. But he has no work here and just can't afford the bills so poland here we come.

Now you will have to compete with polish girls in every aspect.

I don't find it much more expensive than neighbouring countries.. and the figures I referred are pps, ie corrected for differences in cost of living

yes im in ireland at this moment im thinking all the time but my husdand dose not understand some times what i talk about move to poland when im in a very good country but i tell him all the time ireland is not that good anymore just for some but not for us he just can't understand.he says poland is very bad for work but he has not been working over there for 3years so i dont understand why cant he give it ago? if it is that bad then we can go some were else

I think it is better to give poland a go than not to give poland. I think my husband is afarid of looking a failure if he has to go back or maybe it is so ingrained in the polish people that life is better in the west they just can't seen how f*@ked Ireland is. Most of the eastern europens I know are all haning around on social welfare waiting for the ecomany to pick up why not go back poland until it picks up in ireland, if ever will picks up.

well here's one for you my husband gets 360euro per week i don't have a job right now this money he gets is only meant to keep one person going not two and still he tells me he does not want to go back to Poland then i ask him would we go to some other good place to work and he say yes lets go then 2 week's later he tell's me he has a job and he whant's to stay. now i am starting a TEFL course and in 3 to 5 month's i can go to poland or some other country's to work. i think that would be very good because right now i really can't stand living in Ireland every thing is so f..ked up how much i love my country i just whant to get the hell out of here

I can definitely sympathise with you. Came back to Dublin from Australia and have struggled to find work for the guts of a year so am finally going to take the plunge and move to Krakow, where I'm fortunate enough to have my girlfriend, and teach English.

What TEFL course are you doing? Was going to do the CELTA here but found the same in Krakow for a good deal cheaper. Hopefully will be over there come March, excited but nervous, especially when it comes to learning Polish.

teaching english have you ever been there? if yes whats it like for work?

do you know any websit i can look on for work in gdansk or starogard gdanski or gdynia:)

na never been though am going for a weekend to krakow end of this month as a taster. think there's plenty of expats on this forum that have thought english in various places that have shared their experiences, just a matter of searching the threads.

my girlfriend has looked at the likes of goldenline.pl and gumtree, unfortunately they're in polish so it's not really practical to look yourself.
