Fresh Christmas trees sale in Poland

I have never seen fresh christmas trees sold in Poland.In usa they expect to sell around 33 mil trees this xmas so average around 1 tree for 10 people,I wonder if they do sell in Poland whats the average?Its a multi bil $ business here,and someone I met just works 1 month and makes money for whole year to live off it.

I know everyone does but in flats ive mostly seen are artificial ones,I have never spent xmas in Poland but just wondering if I have to next year where to find one as in decenber i never saw them being sold at OBI,or street corners or supermarket parking lots in warsaw. Thanks though.

Oh just checked obi.pl they sell for 69.99 but wonder if its real or made in china stuff.

They sell both types, but I thought that plastic are out of fashion.

If you want a real Christmas tree - a fir (swierk) you either have to go to a farmer and ask for one - or steal one out of the state forest.

The other type of real trees are not Christmas trees - the only real Christmas tree is Swierk - end of....... anyway they are really expensive - and look - well - not the real thing ....

The firs on offer at the markets and stores everywhere lose their needles whatever you do - including the trick of cutting the base to allow the tree to drink.

Also the trees are cut to near the lowest branch.

All in all it is really really difficult to get a good tree and at upwards of 100 zl for a good fir it's a bloody cheeky when you get a dead tree that's been sitting in some holding centre for 3 weeks :(

Sounds terrible but that's exactly where the tree came from when I spent Xmas in Poland with friends. There was a large forest directly behind their house which I have to presume was state forest. It was cut down and brought into the house on Christmas Eve.

Again America leads. What a great idea. Cut your own tree from the forest. 5 dollars. Instead of this farmed rubbish that we get in Poland that as I said, is cut too high, and is dead by the time that it gets to the buyer, and so at 100 zlotys a complete and utter disaster.

Cutting trees in Poland is illegal penalised by heavy fines my wife says her father did it though.And yes we do go to the farm in usa and pay 5 bucks but they cut and wrap it for us and put on the truck for us and 2 bucks tip for the guy(if im not tipsy otherwise is 10 bucks if he is nice).

Umm plastic trees are still around in Poland I saw guess cuz people use it in flatsand also in states in walmart I saw other day also,the fresh trees available in usa are usually between 5 to 6feet or 6 to 7,we prefer 5to6 easy to decorate:)

Poles typically don't have firs for Christmass trees - świerk is spruce - spruce is more aromatic from what I can tell - having said that we didn't have fresh Christmass tree in years though we live in a forest

We're using a huge sprig of mistletoe as our yule greenery this year. Who says you have to sacrifice a tree every year? I think they look better in the ground.

In what State do you live in that trees are $5 ? Where I live to do what you said would run about $25 or more.

We don't. We have a midwinter festival, the origins of which go back much further than Christianity, and which the early church appropriated for its own uses (as it did with easter). I thought everyone knew that.

not really, there has been a pagan festival on that date for far longer, thus all the greenery and feasting, drinkin etc

I think it was called Saturnalia by the Romans but the original mid winter festival pre-dated the Romans. Saturnus was the God of Seed and Sowing so:

A Russian girlfriend gave me Stalin-era tree decoration, a pioneer boy. He gets his chance to sit atop the greenery for a couple of weeks every year at yuletide.
