Don`t you realise, young man, that your case is lost? Apart from cars (OK, as I said, I am giving up on that one :):):):) ), whisky, petrol/fuels and a few commodities everything is cheaper in Poland 3, 4, 5 times than in the UK.

Ohh my God, do you really believe that?.......... That's why i gave up, because you cant reason with unreasonable people. You have a point to prove and you already stated in another thread (something like) that you will always fight for Poland no matter what.

My advice is: stop making a fool of yourself before it is too late.

On the contrary my dear chap, it is you who is making a fool of yourself, however that is nothing new.

And then I can promise you I won`t start each new post with a quote from you what seems to piśś you off so immensely. :):):):):):):)

No, please carry on acting like a great big girl, you wanted my attention and now you have it.

OK, they are cheap rants. We all practise them from time to time.

But I do provide some information from time to time, too.

And I am still waiting for plausible facts and data, with links, from you.

Prove that I am wrong, then I will gladly admit you are right, no problem.

If not, you are going to remain a cheap fool that you are now. :):):):)

Why should i waste my time on that crap with a person like you who is going to rip everything apart like a great big girl who's just lost her double cheeseburger. As i said i dont really have a point to prove here, Poland is considerably expensive for most things in comparison to wages. I know that, most people know that.

Lets hear some of them then....

Monthly rent in Krakow

68 square metres, 3 bedroom flat, kitchen, bathroom, toilet. On the 5 th floor in a 10 storey communist block from late 1980s, not far from the center (8 minute drive to the railway station with low traffic). The location is considered very attractive - close to transport and major facilities, that is why the prices of real estate in the area are high.

No mortgage, loans etc.

5 people

Basic maintanance - 1.65 PLN per metre - 112,2 PLN
Repair fund - 1.4 PLN per metre - 95.2 PLN
Lift cost - 6 PLN per person - 30 PLN
Water - it changes throughout the year - on average 85 PLN
Central heating - 2.33 PLN per metre - 158.44 PLN
Rubbish - 7.84 per person - 39.2
Entry phone - 1.5 PLN

Total - 521.54 PLN - about 100 pounds.

Why should i waste my time on that crap with a person like you who is going to rip everything apart like a great big girl who's just lost her double cheeseburger.

Nice, :):):) but it still isn`t a fact which I am waiting for.

I know that, most people know that.

OK, I am listening. :):):):)

As i said i dont really have a point to prove here,

So why don`t you just get lost??? :):):):)

Monthly rent with no mortgage or loan? how does that work...ohh i see the monthly rent or mortgage is not very favorable in Poland.

Whats the average price per m2 in Krakow right now?

So why don`t you just get lost??? :):):):)

Can anyone tell us about the costs one has to pay for their own 3 bedroom flat in big cities in the UK ?

You mean with a mortgage or rent?
Private or council rent? I had a three bed council flat in London for £320 a month.
Either way it could vary wildly, depending on the area of course, and the type of flat, eg ex - local authority block in a grim suburb or penthouse in a good or central area.

It would also vary on when you bought, and what your mortgage deal was.
For example people within one block might be paying anything between £100 a month or £2000 a month.......
Older people might even still have a rent protected place even if it is from a private landlord, and be paying peanuts.....I think our leaderene did away with protected rents in the 1980s.

So in answer to your question Pawian, how long is a piece of string?
If I went back to London now it would be £1200 minimum, IMO. If I was lucky and not too fussy about the area.
Doubtless some smartarse will now tell me I am sto pro cent wrong.
How about in Warsaw or Krakow? Is there a similar situation?

Cooperative.

Yes, of course. My block is in an attractive area and in very good shape.

Sorry, WB, no quote from you this time. :):):):)

What I mean is, salaries are higher and although we are using a playground as an example, it is not an intrinsic part of life to pay for such a thing, unlike what I have mentioned above.

For some people certain things are intrinsic, for others aren`t. For me it is intrinsic to take kids to fun center at least once a month. :):):):)

So what Poland doesn't produce is expensive.

Yes, let`s have a look.

I was presented Black Johnnie Walker Whisky 0.7 l one day. I checked its price out of pure curiosity:

Poland - online shopping - from 109 PLN = £21.50
cotanio.pl/katalog/1596-Alkohole_i_Tyton/2122-Whisky/475267-Whisky_Johnnie_Walker_Black_Label

UK - from £24.10

mysupermarket.co.uk/#/tesco-price-comparison/spirits/johnnie_walker_black_label_scotch_whisky_700ml.html

The Polish price is unfavourable, indeed. Luckily, I don`t like whisky. :):):):)

But, imagine I go to England and desire to drink Polish vodka.

Bison vodka, 0.7 l

Poland - online - 36.50 PLN = £ 7.20
wroclaw1.pdd.com.pl/p/pl/881/zubrowka+0-7+l.html

UK - online - £21

drinksdirect.co.uk/acatalog/Zubrowka_Bison_Grass_Vodka.html

PS.
Description:
Since the 14th century, Bison- grass has been used to infuse a unique vodka, Zubrowka, a singular spirit of supreme smoothness . Each bottle contains a blade of this grass, bringing a pale olive colour and freshness to the vodka.

Background: In a remote corner of Poland in the North Podlasie Lowland lies a mysterious place called Bialowieza, the last primeval forest in Europe, home to Europe's last remaining herd of bison and to a distinctively, aromatic plant - Bison-grass. Named in honour of the bison, this armoatic plant resists cultivation and, to this day, is still harvested by hand.

Council tax

I earn six times as much as I would in Poland, so those "expensive" British fares would be much more affordable than Polish fares.

I am sure you don`t pay for a lot of things in Britain but come to Poland to get them 3, 4 times cheaper.

I am sure you don`t pay for a lot of things in Britain

I don't know where you get this crazy idea that we have "free" things over here. And don't tell me that education and the NHS is free - it isn't. It is paid for through taxes. Just because a doctor doesn't give you a bill when you leave hospital, it doesn't mean it hasn't been paid for. I pay around £750 (nearly 4000PLN) in taxes each month, which is what funds all those "free" things you keep going on about.

The only people who get anything "free" over here are the underclass (often undeserving), pensioners (who will have earned it, through lifelong taxes) or the unemployed/long-term sick (and many of these aren't entitled to claim a lot of things, despite having worked before) . People like me, who have worked for decades, get nothing for free - and we are usually the ones who get the least help if we lose our jobs.

but come to Poland to get them 3, 4 times cheaper.

It's only cheaper if you come to Poland as a visitor, earning UK money. Poland appears cheap to UK visitors, but it doesn't mean that Poland is cheap for Polish residents.

I've tried to explain to you before, but you don't listen. Sometimes I wonder if you really are a teacher.

So I'll explain things again.

My flat here in Manchester costs around 2300 PLN a month for around 60m2 of space. But I earn about 11000-12000 PLN/month (netto).

So I decide to move to Poland. I get exactly the same job I do here, but it pays up to 1600 PLN a month netto, if I'm lucky. Now, please tell me how much space I can rent or buy in one of Poland's largest cities with 1600 PLN a month? Or, more importantly, how much would be left for travel/food, etc. Actually, you don't need to answer, because I know.

I didn`t say it.

Actually, quite the opposite. :):):):)

Hey, could you go back and read through all the posts in this thread? It seems you got lost. :):):):)

Yes, that`s what I meant by saying

I am sure you don`t pay for a lot of things in Britain but come to Poland to get them 3, 4 times cheaper.

. E.g., you don`t go to a dentist in Britain for exclusive dental work, but come to Poland, instead.

My flat here in Manchester costs around 2300 PLN a month for around 60m2 of space. But I earn about 11000-12000 PLN/month (netto).

Yes, but still you hired cheap Polish seasonal immigrant workers to have it renovated. :):):):):) Working in Britain, spending in Poland. :):):)

Why do you assume you would get 1600 netto in Krakow?

I don`t known anybody in my family, among friends or acquaintances in Krakow who earns 1600 netto. They all earn twice, thrice as much. I am talking about educated people who work for companies or run their own businesses. I know that people are paid such money, e.g., a security man who barely finished secondary school and doesn`t speak any languages.

But you are much better educated, aren`t you? So, why such pessimism?

Because I know that my profession is badly paid and not valued in Poland. It would be madness for me to try and work in Poland.

You, as a teacher, should know that education does not always equate to a good salary - particularly in Poland, but increasingly in the UK as well.

If you go to a private school you will do better. As with all things private over here.

Canada follows the UK model quite well-taxes! However, there are things that are cheaper in Poland, for example, meats, cheeses/dairy and fruits and veg. Particularly those grown in Poland.

I don`t have time to do research on the Net but I firmly believe that the list of cheaper Polish vs Canadian stuff is much wider than food. :):):): E.g., is Canadian high education free, as in Poland?

not for a second! Canadian college and uni is a fraction of the price of American but still not free. Community college is much cheaper than uni and there is always students loans----but still not free.

But just to use my husband as an example: he went to uni in Canada (he is Polish)-- had he received the same education in Poland he wouldn't be making anywhere near the income he is making now--even after paying off student loans. So even though the Polish Uni's are "free" in the long run it doesn't get you to where you need to be.

No, the Canadian government has just increased student fees by 80%, that is why they have been rioting on the streets for the past three months. Its been the longest period of civil unrest in Canadian history. A few weeks ago, 700 students were arrested in one night of violence. This does not seem to get reported in the Polish Media.

If you study in Poland and intend to stay, then, as you say, "free" Polish universities are perfect enough. My case.

disagree. this is why so many universities offer programs that are based from a university in another country and Poles go for it. This is also why so many Poles that have children in the foreign schools in Warsaw will send their kids abroad for uni. Particularly Scotland where I believe the foreign fees are extremely low.

in Canada prescription meds are cheaper than the states. They seem to be about the same here maybe slightly less in Canada. The Canadian gov't prohibits advertising by drug companies. They do it in Poland and it is so annoying. What is even more annoying is the line ups to the apteka to get the drugs because somebody saw the advert on t.v.
