What's the climate and food like in Warsaw? (I am a student from India)

Hello, I am a student from India leaving to Warsaw in September. I wanted to know the general climatic conditions in Warsaw so that I could get an idea about the clothes that I need to be ready with. Does it rain heavily ? Do I need an umbrella ? What kind of vegetables do we get in Warsaw? Also I wanted to know if there are Indian spices available and also about the Indian restaurants. Your answers will be of much help!! Thank you :)

Do you come for a year or just few days, weeks.
September, October are Autumn, and could be rainy, any day in Poland could be rainy. So pack an umbrella or buy one here.

What kind of vegetables do we get in Warsaw?

Have a look at this site: warsawtour.pl/en/warsaw-for.../markets-3520.html‎Cached

You won't find everything you'd get back home, but you're sure to find okra, spinach, all kinds of squashes and, of course, potatoes. Spices will be a bit trickier. I've never seen asafoetida (hing) here. Perhaps you could bring some (well wrapped) if you use it.

You need an unbrella. If you're staying for the winter, you'll need warm boots and a good coat, but you can buy those here quite cheap. Save your baggage allowance. There are Indian restaurants, but be prepared for the shock of your life when you see the prices.

It's very, very cold in winter which lasts from December to (sometimes) March. You will need very warm clothes but clothes prices are not high and perhaps it would be better to buy some in Poland.

There's a good selection of vegetables - you won't have a problem. As for spices, Namaste that Warszawski mentions is good, and a shop called Kuchnie Swiata (in the malls) also has a very good selection of Indian products. There's also a district of town called Raszyn where there's a small Indian community - there are a couple of Indian shops (and a community association) there.

For whole year round you will need clothes for almost every weather that is on Earth. You come in September so most important would be Autumn outfits, sweaters, long sleeve shirts, waterproof jacket, waterproof shoes, some t-shirts. For winter just take some things you own and like, if you have good hiking shoes, you could take them. But heavier and bulkier stuff you can buy here.

I wanted to know the general climatic conditions in Warsaw so that I could get an idea about the clothes that I need to be ready with.

Like most people have advised the weather starts to get cooler Oct onwards and you might need a light jacket in the evenings. Dec to Mar are very cold. My advice to you will be not to worry about clothing much as you can buy everything here at a reasonable price as the weather demands.

It is possible to get most of the vegetables here. There are a few indian stores here where you can get most of the spices and some vegetables too.

I've never seen asafoetida (hing) here.

I managed to buy asafoetida in Warsaw from Samira a Lebanese restaurant near Pole Mokotowskie. They have a good selection of Mediterranean and Indian food and spices. You can buy some in large containers to save money if you use a lot.

I could get an idea about the clothes

I'd recommend buying thick rubber soled shoes as in the winter there's snow and they put a lot of salt down which can ruin shoes.
