Chiropodists in Warsaw

Ouch, it hurts

A quick question - do Chiropodists / Podiatrists exist in Poland?

I asked a neighbour who's a doctor what the name of the profession is, saying I was looking for a medical professional, not a doctor, not a nurse but someone who looks after feet. She said it's a doctor, an Ortopedolog. That sounds a bit drastic.

Surely there's someone who looks after the feet of the pregnant, the elderly, people with diabetes, whatever?

As far as I can see from a look on the Internet, the profession doesn't seem to exist at all in Poland. It seems a bit drastic to go to a surgeon just about the beginnings of an ingrowing toenail.

Does anyone have experience of this?

And what about this Warsaw's center?

At the LUX MED Hospital, we perform a wide range of foot surgeries, in both adults an children:

Achilles tendon lengthening
Club foot
Osteochondromas
Baker's cyst
Spasticity
Hallux valgus
Hallux rigidus
Plantar aponeurosis inflammation

The Foot Treatment Centre operates also Numerical Podology Centre where orthopaedic insoles are made based on the numerical platform examination.

Not a foot surgeon - a chiropodist. A different profession, not a doctor or nurse but closer to the latter. They can do complicated things and simple ones. It seems odd to go to a doctor for a simple procedure.

Isn't it the general way in Poland that many professions seem to require doctors when there's absolutely no need for it?

I'm thinking about the way that Polish mothers go hysterical in the UK because they can't get access to a gynaecologist on the NHS for routine care during pregnancy, even though midwives are very highly trained in that one specific field.

It looks that way. Basically too many roles performed by doctors where that is unnecessary. It doesn't seem worth going to an orthopaedic surgeon for a toenail problem.
