Hello

My wife (Polish) and I (british) are in the first stages of looking in to starting a company in Poland. We are planning to set up a manufacturing business in Poland and we will manufacture products for clients in Poland, UK and other EU countries. We will then grow the company and distribute UK goods in Poland and Polish goods in the UK.

What we are looking for is what channels of investment, grants etc are available for us to explore. We are lookign to locate the comany close to Opole ( Between Wroclaw and Katowice).

Also a brief explination of the process involved when registering a polish company.

Thank You in advance for all your help :)

what kind of manufacturing business?

And there in lies the fundamental problem. If you don't have your own money forget it.

Easy tiger you don't have any money yet. One of the greatest mistakes people make when attempting to start up business is ridiculous expectations.

Every start up comany needs a vision. What they are doing and where they will go. Also a five year plan of how and where you will secure growth in order to demonstrate to your investors where they will secure a ROI. All of that you need before you obtain any money.

The greatest mistake people make when starting a business in not planning and not understanding their sector and where their company is going.

Anyhow if you know of where to point me in the direction of where i can look to apply for funding grants etc that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Im aware of that, it looks as though you plan on conquering Europe though. Ive witnessed so many start ups ruined by excessive expectations.

You ain't going to get any money, grants, investment mate. Sorry break that to you, but thats the reality. You might if you had an operational, already proven business with awesome prospects. Do you have that? Otherwise its just a dream.

Woclaw Boy,

I am not trying to take europe by storm. What I am doing is setting up a company in Poland based on a model that works and is proven.

I currently have a uk company which in 5 years has gone from a idea to a turnover of £2m in manufacturing. That started from a vision using money through a EFG.

I want to replicate that but also adding distribution.

So do you actuallly have any relevant and usefull information to assits my question regarding the best place to obtain funding loans and grants ?

Thanks in advance.

Th other option is to set up a UK company (with a office in the UK) and have a manufacturing arm in PL.

Do you think the funding would be easier to obtain in the UK than Poland ?

TIA

I think if you already have manufacturing experience and a clear business plan plus about 70 percent your own funding then you have a good chance of grants, especially for employment. in that region we got those before in krakpowice and kedzierzyn but it was a few years ago.

start with PAIZ and there are also plenty of consultants in Warsaw whp would help you on a success fee Basis which might leave you more time to run your business.

Get your funding locally - will reduce your currency risk and British banks will not want Polish assets as collateral.
