Poland's residence permit after marriage to a Polish citizen

I am currently in Poland on the basis of Schengen Visa, my visa will expire on the end of may, and i have just got married to a Polish citizen 2 days ago. I need to know, what should I do to be able to extend my visa based on the marriage. Will I be able to extend my stay here and apply for temporary residence permit while I am still in poland on the basis of a Schengen Visa, or I must leave the country and apply back from Polish embassy?

Surely your wife is the person to ask, or is better suited to finding out what is needed in your particular situation. What does she say?

I dont't know if you really understood what i have posted! But how can my wife know?! She is not the Government! Please if you have no idea, just better not comment. I am asking people how passed through this and really knows the process. Thanks

But she's Polish and in Poland and is much better positioned to find out (on your behalf) what you need (and she knows how government offices work). Presumably she's highly motivated to help you prolong your stay in Poland so she won't mind making some phone calls or heading down to the migration office (or just doing web searches at the relevant sites)

Why trust a bunch of random strangers over your own wife?

I am in poland, and i can work on the process while my wife has her work to do. Sure I trust her and she is helping also. And obviously you have no answer of how the process goes, so thanks and your advice is much appreciated, but I am really looking for people who can help.

very nice attempt at an insult - but I'm not moved much - the thing is what you see in the screen under the nickname gumish are clearly letters that form intelligible words and even intelligible sentences - you might have not known but this is the definition of literacy - but well now you know - now go tell your literate wife to search for Polish government websites to find information for your case and figure out what you are supposed to do

Hi, I'll leave you a link and maybe there instructions. I'm also researching, and what I know after the wedding you get your marriage certificate, fill out some forms and other documents and go to the office to apply for your visa.

They will stamp your passport stating that you are in the process so if a police officer stops you, you need to show this and they can not deport you, but you can't leave Poland until your process is over.

Nowadays it takes 6 to 9 months to get the visa.

Thanks for your reply. I already visited this website. But there is one thing that worries me here, I have found on other government website (find its link below), concerning the documents required to be submitted, that they require a "Current copy of the marriage certificate (issued not earlier than three months prior to the application)"... now since i just got married 2 days ago and my visa will expire at the end of may, that does not pass 3 months since the marriage certificate is issued! So I am worried that i have to leave the country and wait till 3 months pass then come back and apply...

not earlier than three months means (to me) within three months of getting married, but what it says in English is less important than what it says in Polish which is why your wife should be doing the checking....

I also understand that your certificate can't have more than three months
So I believe that everything will work out for you.

What's normal in this case is for the physical copy of the certificate to be issued no more than 3 months previously. It's quite common when marriage/birth/death certificates are involved for there to be a time limit on the certificate.

The idea, as far as I remember, is that the original documents are held in the USC, and the copy issued is just that, a copy.

Have you passed in such a process? Since i noticed u said as far as u remember 🙂

no earlier than three months before the application means it must be recent - if you apply for a temporary residence on the merit of marriage now then you can use your current marriage certificate for the purpose - if you apply later like in six months then you would need a fresh copy of the marriage certificate from the UCS) -

First you have to go to office if immigration or by website you Can find all informations, and you have to know that minimum you need to wait 7 months to get décision really something crazy ,administration in poland is so bad , they said we have big delay and many applications especially from Ukrainian ect ok they have right but in website it's written not more than 3 months , really so bad at least they can make department for people who are married to a polish citizen they take from you all your energy ,or at least like in England RC takes up to 6 months but after 2 months you receive paper from office and it gives you right to work here nothing even stump doesn't give right to work , I'm talking about administration 1/10 by respect another think I'm waiting for my express parcel now since 27 march lol 1 month and I paid 500 zloty to have it in 3 day 1 month clearance :D

ya i have read about this delay. That is horrible. But all i can do is wait anyway. I need to ask you though, I went on to mazowieckie.pl and there they say i need to take an appointment first. However, the nearest appointment i found was on May 23, and my visa expires on May 29! So I am worried that sth may be wrong with my papers and i wont be able to make it before visa expiry to submit the right docs. Is there anyway I can go to submit whatever docs i have without an appointment?

sorry, i did not get you well here. Did you take an appointment? or you went there directly and just took a number? Moreover, u got married also to a polish citizen? and did they stamp on your passport at the same time u delivered your docs?

Yes you give your documents there without appointment and they will give you stamp after 4 months when you go for finger print if you have all documents they can give you stamp I know someone they didn't put for him stamp even after he gave his finger print

Don't worry if you don't make problems on the street or to come late at night noone will check you make copie of your marriage certificate and keep it with you anyway they will give u stamp on the formular,
