I always wondered what are the legal and financial consequences for DUI in Poland...does it also inform other member states of EU,car rental agencies? Then again whats the difference of same in case one posses foreign license with International license or Polish license?

I also forgot to ask if refusal to take test is an option?and what are the penalties then?

Ban and a fine are minimum. Jail is possible. If you are more than double the limit, you can also have your car seized.

Your national license will be taken from you and sent to your embassy so it can be sent home and cancelled.

Refusal to take a test is a crime. If you are really drunk, they can and will legally force you to take a blood test (the justification is that they need to know what medical treatment you need).

Will the country its sent to also cancel the license?I guess its not the question for this forum.and jail? for how long?
lol if the jail term is long do they provide sushi and curry there?

what if the car is financed in or in the foreign Eu country or even if its a rental?

a colleague of my husbands just got caught for drinking and riding a bike. He had four beer and then rode his bike. The court wouldn't even listen to his plea- he is banned from driving on public roads for one year.

I like the guy but I totally agree with the sentence.

Meanwhile the cops do nothing about kamikaze cyclists in dark clothing and without lights.

I know a guy who got six months in prison for riding his bike while drunk (he was riding a bike because he had lost his driving licence for driving while drunk).

I sold a car to a woman whose husband is banned for life. I didn't really want to ask why.

You really wonder what you have to do here to get banned for life!

The court wouldn't even listen to his plea- he is banned from driving on public roads for one year.

This is going to change, apparently - to give the prosecutor discretion rather than the current situation where they absolutely must prosecute. Only when it comes to bike riding crimes, however.

(if you ask me, the law is targeted towards drunken moustache arseholes)
