Company bank account in Poland - can a company use a personal bank account?

If you have a company in Poland can the bank account be the personal account of the owner or does it have to be the name of the company.

I ask because I am trying to purchase a product from a company called Roter Custom Guitars and they want me to transfer the funds into a personal bank account. They say this is normal business practice in Poland. I am not so sure.

They shouldnt lie, its not normal business parctice anywhere he should have just said i dont have a business bank account or im trying to avoid the tax man, or possibly you pay into my personal account and i dont have to pay vat and ill save you a few zloty in the process.

Checked out the site and they seem genuine enough, questions from me are:

1. do you trust them
2. do you have a receipt
3. have you been to their business address

If i remember rightly i paid a building contractor well over a 100 thousand zloty into a personal account but he was actually working on my house at the time.

You'll always have proof of transfer from your account anyway, if its just a web site youve visited i wouldnt want to pay. But then again you never really know the destination of PayPal accounts so its swings and round abouts really.

If the business is a sole trader, the account can be a personal one. I do this myself.

It's especially common in businesses where most of the sales are in cash.

They can have one mandatory official business bank account (Wroclaw Boy pointed why not disclosed) and several personal bank accounts.

Not exactly.

I was told this by the window monkeys when I registered a business for the first couple of times.

The last time, when I checked with her boss, I found out that a Społka needs a dedicated bank account, but a Działaność does not.

So for my main activity that I do through the Spółka, I use the company a/c, for the other thing that I do as a sole trader I use only my personal account. The requirements differ according to the method by which you submit your accounts.

I've checked with both my accountant and a very high-priced tax lawyer. They both said the same thing: as a sole trader you can use your personal account for all transactions (including paying tax, VAT & ZUS) but you must have a corporate account (i.e. you can not close the one you gave the details for when setting up your company unless you open another business account). Makes perfect sense, eh?

Hi,

Really weird this thread has come up now as I'm just today trying to work this out myself.

I have a sole trader company and most of my customers transfer money into my bank account, someone told me I need a business account but if a customer goes to my bank to pay money into a business account they will have to pay about 6zł (I think this is the norm in Poland with business accounts?) So for obvious reasons I would rather use my personal account.

can anyone confirm if I can keep using my personal account for this?

Thanks

Perfect logic :-)

Though on advice from the tax office on ul. Lindley'a, I just gave the number of my personal a/c and they were happy with that. At least until they change their mind...

but if a customer goes to my bank to pay money into a business account they will have to pay about 6zł (I think this is the norm in Poland with business accounts?)

This isn't the norm. Which bank do you use?

can anyone confirm if I can keep using my personal account for this?

Yes. This is fine. As long as you keep proper accounts of course.....

WBK, was told for internet transfer it is free but in branch the customer would have to pay a fee to deposit into a business account

Naughty of them. That's perhaps because customers would usually go to the bank of someone they had to pay if they were paying something at the last minute and didn't have any other option!

I use Nordea who don't do that (as far as I know).

But then again, surely most clients would be paying you by transfer?

yeah I reckon so but I don't want ANYONE to have to pay a fee to deposit money into my account, this is why I would prefer just to keep on using my personal account.
