I can't answer your question fully but ING bank give us 3.5% on our savings account, the money is also available to us immediately.

yes, but that is in PLN. That bank offers interest rates in euro of 0.25% anually which is basically nothing.

There are websites comparing banks:

money.pl/banki/lokaty/euro/
oprocentowanielokat.pl
bankier.pl/lokaty/porownanie-lokat/

Fast looking at this links shows 1.7% max

You won't get much better for instant-access EUR accounts. PKO is offering 0.30% for instant access which is pretty decent - it's not far off the Euribor 6m rate.

Stay away from Amber Gold.

Stay away from any private bank full stop. A quick look of the chart on money.pl tells you that there must be something wrong if these banks are able to offer a significant premium over the Euribor rate.

If not private bank then what, national? Any bank from this list: money.pl/banki/lokaty/euro/ has government insurance.

Do you think that insurance is actually worth anything?

By non-private bank, I mean any bank that has publicly available shares (or owners that have publicly available shares).

Even in Cyprus this insurance worked. Bank which has shares on stock market is still private.

Dzien dobre

I'm looking to invest money currently in a bank in Italy elsewhere and having a Polish wife, and son, and a house there Poland is one option. I'm curious as to what sort of interest rates you would expect to achieve on an investment of, say €200k. We currently get around 3%, tops and were just wondering whether it would be worth moving it.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

3% on 200 k€? Which bank is that? If the funds are freely accessible, this is way over current IB rates, so it would indicate that your bank is in some kind of trouble for having to offer such rates. Of course, if the funds are not freely accessible (eg life insurance) it is a different story altogether..
