Feedback / The image of Poland according to PolishForums [90]

What am I suggesting is a thread where people could discuss about Polish Forums itself.

An area for people to discuss an area where people discuss? A bit too post modern maybe.

Life / What is the reason for POLISH jokes ? [486]

Neither the Nazis nor the Commies developed the "Polish jokes"!

Well the Nazis were German which negated any joke making abilities.

News / What is wrong with Poland that Poles emigrate? [167]

So "should I stay or should I go?"

You should go. If only to experience the land whose language and culture you know so much about. I've met Polish people in Poland who speak excellent English like you but have never been to England. I think thats a bit sad/strange and maybe a bit of a waste.

As for the sort of job you can expect to get, that will depend on where in England you will be moving to. London has the best opportunities both for carer options and money. The place isnt to everyone's taste though.

History / WWII - Battle of Britain and Poles [104]

america and usa lol

Its true, the latin American countries played a massive role in WW2. Mainly by hiding war criminals though. :)

History / WWII - Battle of Britain and Poles [104]

Not by Brits? Didn't they, single-handedly, knock Germany out with only some symbolic help from the US, France, Poland, Canada and about half of the world?.

Finally you admit it! One down, 39 million more to go.

UK, Ireland / A collection of noimmigration's threads or "STAY AWAY from BRITAIN" [978]

And the Indian speaks english not by DEFAULT but due the colonial history and the British Empire. That goes for ALL english speaking countries outside the islands - they are not NATIVE languages!

Proof that the British Empire was a force for good. :)

I doubt that!
Once it was Latin...it is no more!
Once it was french...it is no more!
Once it was german...it is no more!

Neither Latin, French nor German were ever the worldwide lingua franca to the extent that English is. Its useful to learn French or German when speaking to those French or Germans who havent learnt English but this number is diminishing especially in the business community. neither languages are of any use outside of Europe. The fact is English is the 'default' world language. If an Indian meets a Dutchman, they'll speak English not German or Hindi.

History / Pole, Hungarian, two good friends [58]

but, we know- Slavs are Slavs and they have their resources. We-Slavs can share it, trade, but remember- those are Slavic resources.

Russia didnt seem too keen on sharing the wealth with its Slavic brothers when it arranged the Baltic gas pipeline to Germany despite the fact that it would cost a third to build it through Poland.

Was it maybe because opting for an underwater rather than a land route will enable Gazprom to cut off supplies to Poland without hurting its Western European customers?

Hmm, surely not. Russia loves her Slavic brothers.

UK, Ireland / I have concerns over the British immigration policy so I wrote to my MP. [126]

That's a little bit old fashioned isn't it?

No. Its multiculturalism thats old fashioned and has been proclaimed a failure even amongst many liberals. The American way of integration and assimilation is the way to go.

My question was directed to how has immigration effected you personally.

Something doesnt have to effect you directly and negatively for you have a right to be concerned about it. Quite the opposite as if something has basically effected you in a largely positive way and you are still concerned about its repurcussions then your motives are something other than selfish.

I dont believe that the Polish are the most hated immagrants

They're just the most high profile because of their numbers. If the same numbers of non-EU citizens were coming in then this issue would be MUCH bigger and with outright hostility and probably violence.

how has the immigration effected you in a personal and negative way such that you see fit to complain about it. If the answer is it hasn't, then aren't your complaints disingenuous?

Not if you believe we live in a society with a culture rather than a multicultural society. Immigrants must be absorbed into a society not attached onto it like an extra appendage. I personally dont want Britain to become Balkanised.

UK, Ireland / Time for the Poles from the UK to go home [437]

IT IS POLISH FORUM !!! It isn't my problem. I am Polish I live in Poland I find it primitive that you come here and talk this crap here. Go to British forum and discusse your problems there.

The subject is of massive importance to Poland too.

I'm also not sure why you're getting upset about merely discussing the issue. I think we all accept this is an important subject with ramifications for both countries and that perhaps things are not going quite as smoothly as we would all like. There are problems. Cant we accept this?

It seems that even when a person makes it abundently clear that the problems that have occurred are not Polish people's fault (as I have done) then they will still get shot down for saying anything other than 'my, those Poles are jolly hard workers. Much better than the indigeneous rabble we're used to.'

Are people really not able to have more subtle opinions than that?

You need to improve your own native language.

Did you mean "you need to improve your own native language skills."?

That makes sense. What you said, doesnt.

Well, actually you saved a lot of my time as now I don't have to prove anything - you've just admitted that you look at the economy through the eyes of Johnny the Redneck and that's not how things really work.

Again, a random series of words with no real coherent meaning. Are you typing drunk again?

UK, Ireland / Time for the Poles from the UK to go home [437]

The amount of cheap labour flooding the workforce in the UK is providing choice and competition but is also undoubtedly forcing some professional tradespeople to change profession as they do not want to work for a pittance.

The question is also who will replace them when younger people are no being trained into these professions as employers are happy to get ready skilled people from abroad. Ready skilled people who may leave at any moment.

Kilkline:
Employers employ Poles because they are cheaper.

Yes and that's why...

Kilkline:
a) the British economy needs Polish labour

But you just don't get It.

You 'need' to look up the meaning of the word 'need' in the dictionary.

In some way yes. If instead of working for a bit less they rather want to sit on their asses and do nothing then yes, they are lazy.

£6 an hour may enable you to live like a king in some village in Poland. Not in London.

UK, Ireland / Time for the Poles from the UK to go home [437]

Kilkline:
wages of the low skilled manual workers in Britain have gone DOWN in the last few years.

And... ?

OOOkay. I'll draw the dots for you.

The wages have gone down because Poles are cheaper. Employers employ Poles because they are cheaper. Business doesnt need to do this but it is desirable for them to do so. Laziness of the locals is an irrelevant argument. There are many lazy Poles like people in every other country. The difference is that Poles are cheaper.

Therefore your original arguments that a) the British economy needs Polish labour and b)that British pepole arent being employed because they are lazy, doesnt hold water.
