Life / Are Xbox games in Poland translated into Polish? [8]

Merged: Does anyone have Dying Light for Xbox One?

I'm talking about the Polish edition specifically. I know that it is down as being Polish dubbed but was wondering if it has the option for English as well or if I should just buy it from Britain instead?

Life / Are there January Sales in Poland? [7]

I use Ceneo all the time, it's a good website. Maybe I will just buy it now instead then.

Thanks for the advice.

Life / Are there January Sales in Poland? [7]

Are there January Sales in Poland or does everything remain the same price?

I ask because I want to buy an Xbox One and i'm not sure if I should get it now or wait a week in case they go down in price.

Law / How much would I have to earn before paying the tax office in Poland? [17]

I was only thinking of charging 30 per hour because I don't have teaching qualifications so would be offering my services only as someone for people to practise their English with. I feel if I were to charge more I would be asking too much.

Law / How much would I have to earn before paying the tax office in Poland? [17]

There's a difference between thinking having to pay something even if you don't earn enough to pay it is stupid, and not liking the country. Considering the name you have chosen would it not be prudent of you to actually give out advice instead of interpreting things incorrectly?

Law / How much would I have to earn before paying the tax office in Poland? [17]

So with my son finally being firmly rooted in nursery I was thinking about offering my services as a native speaker to have conversations with.

I have questions relating to this when it concerns the tax office. I have been reading about paying ZUS and the different rates but haven't been able to find the answer to one question.

How much would I have to be earning before I had to start paying any of that to the tax office?

From reading the ZUS is 300pln per month for the first 2 years and 800 thereafter, so if it doesn't go well and I have no other jobs lined up before the 2 year reduced rate is over, there would be the possibility of 800 being too much. Even 300 seems too much if I am just starting out. So if anyone could answer my question I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your time.

Work / Jobs for a Native English Speaker in Konin Area? [21]

I am being very serious, you "speak" as though it's your second language rather than your first.

You say you have a job in three different language schools, I hope they have nothing to do with teaching.

You used the word of instead of have and that is something taught to children at a young age.
You also said, "I have found work at a language schools in Konin, Turek and Pleszew." If you can't see the issue with that sentence then you should think about working somewhere other than a language school.

You know what, I just realised I was replying to someone else instead of the original poster. I was sure I saw his name on the post.

Come on though, you can't deny his English is a little bit rubbish.

Work / Jobs for a Native English Speaker in Konin Area? [21]

I'm not going to lie, you don't seem like a native speaker at all. It seems more like you learned it as a second language at a young age, but not young enough to have mastered it.

Work / English Teaching/Work in Wroclaw (for a young female from Canada)? [7]

Merged: Looking to advertise myself for English language conversations - but where?

Hello, my wife has advised me that I should put myself up for hire for people looking to practise and improve their English via Skype in exchange for money. The question is, does anyone know of any good websites where I could advertise my services?

Thanks in advance.

Law / Can you examine goods before paying courier in Poland? [4]

Basically, my father-in-law ordered something and it came by a courier you have to pay. What he got is not what he ordered.
Now I am thinking of purchasing something which will cost close to 300zl and I don't want to get ripped off. So am I able to open the package and check to make sure the goods are correct before I pay the courier or not?

Law / Divorce in Poland - do I have the right to enter my own home? [10]

You can even live there with him living there too as long as it is in your name as well. He could go to court and unless he could prove you're a danger to him or the house then they wouldn't be able to do a thing.

My wife has even told me about people who have got divorced but because both names were on the home the judge said both could live there.

Life / Help with Xbox website in Polish ( I need to know how to change language back to English ) [3]

I just did an account migration and it changed the default website for xbox to the Polish version. Can someone who speaks both English and Polish, who also has a Polish xbox account, please log in to the website and see if there is any way to change the website into English please?

Then let me know with each step, thank you in advance.

Life / Amazon stops super saver delivery on orders to Poland [40]

This sucks, I ordered every month from them and the free delivery was a big selling point. Their prices for delivery are stupid though and vary way too much. I wanted to order a game for £18 but delivery was a tenner, however when I checked a game that cost 25, the delivery was 4. They clearly make the cheaper stuff more expensive to send on purpose, they've lost me as a customer most likely.

Love / My Polish wife's mom is asking for money [11]

My wife's mother knew about 1000 we had put away just in case, and something came up that required her to need precisely half. I don't believe it and I don't think my wife did, although she still gave it to her.

I wouldn't pay any of their bills or ever let them know how much you get. In fact I would probably not let your wife know either.

News / Why is Amazon not present in Poland? [57]

The UK Amazon will ship things to Poland for free with a minimum spend, but there are also restrictions on what they will send.

Love / Child support in USA order (child born in Poland) [56]

One thing you should look into is proving she took 60k out of your bank account. Do that and the chances are she will be arrested and you will gain custody of your child.

Law / Picking up a child from preschool in Poland. How much should I charge? [7]

A colleague of my wife has asked if I would be interested in picking her 5 year old son up from preschool. I would pick him up every two weeks for the whole week, for 10 days total a month. I would then take him back to my flat and look after him for one hour.

My wife told me that her colleague pays 200zl per month for the preschool.

So how much would you think is fair to charge her per month?

Bear in mind I don't know her myself, so it's not doing a favour for a friend.

Apologies if this is not the right section for this, as none of the others seemed to work for it.

Work / Polish Natives Teaching English in Schools [3]

So my wife teaches English to people of all ages, albeit at home. Multiple times a few of her pupils have mentioned the English they were taught at school is completely wrong, and how it's a good job they have a tutor as well. If they were minor mistakes I would understand but it's mainly the pronounciation the teachers have wrong, in a big way.

Lives as in "lives at home" is pronounced as "lifes"
Tongue is pronounced as "ton-goo"
Even my wife said she was taught to say certain words wrong, but luckily she was watching a lot of English-speaking television and could hear it correctly.

Has anyone else come across teachers in schools being this bad at teaching English?

My apologies if this is in the wrong section, but this is the only one I see it fitting.

Language / Does anyone know where I can learn Polish for free? [35]

I'm learning on livemocha, which has been suggested already. They have speaking exercises where you recite a paragraph about things you just learned, and you can record yourself and send it to Polish people on the site for an opinion. I've received some quite helpful feedback so far.
