Love / I want to find a Polish girl and get married to her. Your advice can change my life. [34]

I'm man from another country, I like girls Poland, but how i can find someone ?

When will people learn that women and men are not breeds of dogs and cats? You can't just go around saying 'I want a Polish one or a French one' as if you choosing a Boxer dog or Bengal cat!!!!! people are humans with feelings.

If you're hoping to marry into a nice easy life and all the 'benefits' of Europe, forget it, people are getting wise to these tricks!!!

UK, Ireland / Has racism towards Polish migrants increased in the UK since Brexit? [22]

I agree there has been a rise in 'reported' violent crime but there could be any number of reasons for this including the fact that the police paying more attention to crimes that were considered less serious a couple of years back. There might not be an increase in violent crime in real terms.

As for hate crime I doubt it has increased significantly, I think since Brexit the media is more likely to write about crimes against ethnic minorities because they can link it into current political trends and events, anything for an interesting story I suppose, especially as these stories always seem to draw lots of people into the comment sections of the paper!

There are certainly no great changes in attitudes to Poles in Shropshire.

Love / Should I follow her? I met a beautiful Polish woman who has been working in the UK [62]

If she didn't really want me there.. why would she tell friends and family about me coming? Why would she get so excited?

She probably would like you to go with her, but unless you make a success of yourself very quickly don't expect her to hang around.

As I said, this is nothing personal, it's survival and about her being able to achieve her goals in the best way possible.

Just make sure that any job you get is reasonably well paid and is all written up in a good legal contract, favourable to you!

Also make sure your career prospects in the UK will not be affected by you working abroad for some years.
Learn Polish ASAP and speak it as much as you can as of now.

I hope it does work out for you but be prepared for it to go wrong as sadly these things often do.

Love / Should I follow her? I met a beautiful Polish woman who has been working in the UK [62]

Not a good idea to go after this lady.
People often don't realise that Poland is quite a harsh country to survive in.
There isn't a well established welfare state, wages aren't high and some things cost a lot!!
Things are not so easy for women either. There is still a wage gap between male/female earnings
and still some stigma attached to being an unmarried woman over a certain age.
You will find it hard to work there and consequently be a burden on your girlfriend and will probably be dumped.
Don't take it personally it's just survival, your girlfriend wants a home and family in familiar surroundings with people she knows, she will have had to make some hard decisions and romantic love doesn't always take priority.

It's easy to think that love conquers all when you are in Britain but the reality is that in many countries romantic love can be a luxury.

There are plenty of women out there, you'll get over this, though I appreciate it's tough now.

Love / Will Polska likely have the women I am looking for? [12]

Essentially, I want a woman who has never had her first love.

Are you as pure as the driven snow?
If you expect a virgin bride then you should be the virgin groom!!!

Not sure where you're going to find this perfect woman? maybe some Arab country? they kill any girl with premarital sexual experience, so most unmarried girls are 'pure'. Shame they don't apply the same moral code to the men!!

UK, Ireland / Why are Poles in the UK complaining of racism when you are racist? [73]

Prejudice exists across all nationalities, across all races

That's one of the most accurate statements ever, we all have our prejudices be they about race, religion, skin colour or gender. Most races/ethnicities have been subject to slavery but also been slavers too all we can do is try and educate our children not to do these things. It will a long time before prejudice dies out, if ever!!!! Some people seem to thrive on being victims anyway and see 'racism' in every word and action.

I don't have a clue why this thread is here either

Because everybody likes a good verbal brawl no and then!!!

Love / My Polish Girlfriend Broke Up With Me Very Suddenly, Did She Use Me? [23]

But mostly, concentrate on your studies. Having to pull an 18 hour marathon to catch up with your school work is a bad sign that you are preoccupied with non-essential matters.

Good advice, heed it! No man or woman is worth mucking up your education for.

Also just to warn you, there is a possibility that she may come trotting back to you at some point because things aren't going as she planned and then she WILL be prepared to use you for as long as it suits her.

Again good advice. I've seen this sort of thing happen loads of times before, there are men and women who will keep ex's on hold so that they can use them practically and financially when it suits.

It won't feel like it now but you'll be happy again and fall in love again. Take care and best wishes.

Study / Turkish guy to study at a university in Poland. Is that problem for Polish people? [139]

@WINCIG
Not as dumb as it might seem. In many civilizations, hair ( female) is considered to have some "sexual" element attached to it. Today we all wear covers on our pubic hair, at least in public. Where do you set the boundary??[/

Hair on the head doesn't have quite the sexual connation as pubic hair or breasts, it doesn't usually arouse in quite such an immediate way. There is a good reason to cover up 'skin' as extremes of heat/cold damages it. Modesty is nice but you can't totally deny biology, it's going to come to the point where these men go berserk at the sight of a wrist or ankle!!! The more sexuality is 'forbidden' and 'hidden' the more it will become distorted. This why you see scenes of Middle Eastern men turning into rapists and sexual molesters when they reach places like Germany and Sweden. It's not as though extreme Islamic clothing has stopped sexual misdemeanours in Islamic countries, the rapes and sexual abuse are just as prevalent, it's just not reported as much. Happy medium usually works for most things.

Believe me, the ones who cover their hair won't be happy until you do too....

Sadly you are correct. There are parts of London and Birmingham that are 'no go' areas if you are not seen to be following Sharia rules and Sharia rules are strict.

Travel / Is there a lot of racism in Poland now? [7]

Don't worry, you will probably not receive any racism. You may get the odd remark that roughly translates to 'mmmn chocolate' but it's an indication that the person fancies you! I have been spending time in Poland (usually a quite a rough area of Lodz) for ten years now, I am mixed Indian/Greek and my kids are predominantly Indian, none of us have had any problems. These days people that live in the area say hello and stop and speak to us all and are very friendly. The fact that you speak Polish will help as will your family connections. Go and enjoy yourself, it's a lovely country.

Life / Should I expect racism as a 'black' woman in Poland [149]

My2cents

You will be perfectly safe in Poland, people may be curious, they may comment behind your back but it's only because black ladies are not common in Poland. Once people have a chance to get to know you they will judge you as person not as an ethnic minority!

Love / Do African or Afro- American women find Polish men attractive? [179]

When a Black woman is looking for a Polish man she is looking for a sugar daddy to get all she can.

Bit of an outlandish statement I think.
Polish men are rarely sugar daddies in the USA/UK and black women are not generally considered trophy wives either. We are just talking about two average ethnic groups that could be attracted to each other or might not be. Attraction really does depend on the individuals involved!

News / Don't let Poland become like my country, France. [630]

This would mean addressing the concerns of a sizeable portion of the French electorate that no other French politiicans are addressing.

I don't wish to see a far right party in France, Poland, Britain or anywhere for that matter but this is a possibility if politicians do not listen to the voters! Seems to me they have their own agendas and don't give Jack about us!

Like it or not immigration is an issue for many people these days, it needs to be addressed. What also needs to be done is to see what the established non indigenous population feel on the subject!

According to my brother who lives in France; many established immigrants want controls on immigration, their lives are being made harder by the more radical newcomers. They genuinely worry about the effect that the radicals are having on french born muslim youth. Non muslims immigrants don't want islamification.

It's the same among British immigrants and 2nd/3rd generations! All these 'nice white liberals' don't tell us what we should think ask us!

Life / Are there any Muslim areas in Poland? [173]

MODS
We were discussing Islam because the OP appeared to be looking for an area in Poland where he could live in an Islamic cultural setting.

It was pointed out that some of the lifestyle choices in Islam would seem weird to many Poles, Obviously this would necessitate discussing why they would seem difficult to people and examples of what had occurred in other countries are actually relevant, Threads sometimes go slightly off track for a reason.

Life / Are there any Muslim areas in Poland? [173]

However, if the law says everyone is at liberty to practice any religion then it shouldn't be any problem making demands.

I get what you are saying but the conflicts arise when some men interpret the quran in ways which are against the laws of a country.

This seems to be one of the huge problems in Islam, people interpret the quran in many different ways, especially the hadiths, also the quran changes

in it's later writings and becomes much more imperialist in nature.

I do think it must be made clear in every country that laws are secular and you can only follow parts of a religion that are in agreement with the laws of the country. I think this should apply to ALL religions including my own.

I highly doubt the credibility of the above statement. Islam doesn't teach its followers to force their religion on anyone.

The statement is genuinely accurate. There are serious problems in parts of Birmingham, Blackburn, Burnley, East London and Bradford where CERTAIN GROUPS of muslims are trying to impose Muslim only areas and run the areas by their version Sharia/Islam. There are plenty of muslims in Britain who live happily without problems but the extreme groups are causing problems for everyone including fellow muslims.

You can see examples on Youtube of these areas, happens in Paris and Marseilles too.

Everybody - please stop this discussion about Islam - focus on the Poland instead

Life / Are there any Muslim areas in Poland? [173]

No one in his right senses will make such demands.

Oops someone hasn't read or understood the post properly. Of course the list of demands is ridiculous, I stated that, I was taking the mick. Don't you realise that the demands made by SOME Muslims ( when they move to non Muslim countries) sound equally ridiculous to the indigenous population.

In Britain there are areas where Muslims demand the closure of butchers who sell pork, members of the LGBT community, people who are have been drinking or women who are dressed in non muslim clothes are not allowed to walk through the area. There are Muslims who kick off if Christmas is celebrated, demand halal meat, try to insist on gender segregation in schools, ban novels, insist that 'honour killings' are legitimate actions, they want all Muslims to be subject to only Sharia law.

All these demands sound totally ridiculous to the average English/Scots/Welsh/Irish person, they also sound pretty stupid to the average, Chinese,Polish, Italian, Sikh, Hindu and other communities that have settled in Britain. Quite a few Muslims find these demands stupid too. It's not just happening in Britain, there's parts of France, Sweden and the USA that have these idiots trying to turn areas into some kind of Muslim mini state. People in Poland don't want that happening there.

Minority groups cannot just march into countries and expect everyone to pander to their whims,it doesn't work. Respect the values of the country you move to, for however long you are there. It's not rocket science,if you don't like the customs/values of the country you have moved to, go somewhere else!

Life / Are there any Muslim areas in Poland? [173]

To the OP and anyone else of a similar mind, please read.

I would like to live in a pretty area of Normandy or maybe the Ardennes. I'd also like to bring a few carefully selected friends and family members.

''However this area must sell only Indian food and some Polish cakes, maybe a few French ones too. Fish and chips would be okay too, I like fish and chips.

People can only drink coffee or hot chocolate because I don't like alcohol, tea or fizzy drinks.
The men must all look like Denzil Washington, Johnny Depp or some of the Indian film stars. They must be young too, even though I'm middle aged as are my friends.

These men must do exactly what they are told and stay in the house unless us ladies say otherwise.
I only want Sikhs around me or maybe a few pagans as well because some of my friends are a bit new age.
I will possibly tolerate a few Mormons because they are usually quite nice people but they can't talk about their religion.
I will only allow Bhangra music and the Cure to be played because that's my favourite music and I only want gangster/political thrillers on TV/Cinema. Education has be done via the writings of Brian Cox, Stephan Hawking and a couple of historians etc... that I approve of.

Pigs are welcome in my area but not small dogs because I only like large dogs. Smoking is okay because I'm a hypocrite who chose to ignore that part of my religion. I'm just thinking about a few other things to demand.''

Of course this is totally ridiculous and fortunately for the rest of the world no one will allow me to behave this way!

It's equally ridiculous to walk into Poland or any other non muslim country and start making requests for a muslim style area to live in.

I'm not against controlled immigration but if you go to live in another country you live by the majority rules!!
I don't believe in persecuting minority groups but it works both ways.
Immigration can bring benefits to places but unreasonable demands and ghettoisation don't.
If you want to live in another culture, INTEGRATE. You can still be a muslim, catholic, buddhist whatever just don't expect special treatment.
Poland is right to avoid pandering to minorities because it only breeds resentment.
The Tartar muslims in Poland are probably far happier than many of the muslims in other non muslim countries who are not willing to accept the status quo!!

Life / Welcome to Poland ! (Stay away for your own sake) [239]

You make a good point Kaz but on the other hand would it have been better to have left it and still have certain people talking about 'coons' 'micks' 'pakis' 'chinks' and so on, with anyone raising objection being told to STFU?

I see your point too. In theory the race relations, gender equality and LGBT laws are a good thing but in practise they can be twisted by characters with their own agenda and the whole race relations industry I personally find very patronising. I'm afraid that there's still plenty of the 'Paki' 'coon' and 'chink' stuff around in the Midlands, probably is where (I think) you are. The stupid thing is that there is a lot of this among the ethnic minorities ourselves.

It's a mess but I can't give anyone any real solutions. That said I am still glad I live in Britain/Europe and I've genuinely not had probs in Poland.

Life / Welcome to Poland ! (Stay away for your own sake) [239]

@InPolska
I'm not sure who your post (246) was directed to but laws on social issues can create problems in themselves. Growing up around the time or before some of the British laws were introduced I can see the bad effect they can have! Britain had a real problem with the 'politically correct' stuff, at one point it was like a witch hunt! Asians being told they were automatically racist against Blacks, whites being told they were racist against everyone, it was all a load of cr-p! In some respects I think Britain is becoming more segregated as a society due to all the PC rubbish.

Worse still was the failure to recognise that ethnic minorities can be very racist/prejudice themselves and the refusal of people to deal with it because they were scared of not being politically correct!

Everyone has heard about Asian grooming gangs in Rotherham etc... Well it has been going on for many, many years in the West Midlands! Gangs of so called Muslims trying to groom Sikh and Hindu (and other non muslim) girls. The fact was these types of Muslims think they are superior to non muslims, they think we are trash! None of the authorities or local government would do jack about it because they were too scared to upset the PC applecart!!

Poland is not perfect and believe me I have had my arguments with Poles on occasion but there are far worse places for racism and prejudice!

Go to the Middle East and see how Asians of all types are treated! Black Africans too.
Asians and some Europeans keep the Middle East functioning but are paid far less wages than the Arabs who often do far less!
Many asians are quite physically vilely treated by the Arab population too, I don't know about how white's find their treatment but maybe someone will say!

Poland is still living and learning it's period of history, attitudes change with time!

As for people being obsessed with Muslims, look at world events, Muslims are obsessed with Muslims it's a scary time for the whole world!

It doesn't mean a person needs or should hate all muslims, but it does mean being realistic about the effects of muslim immigration on European economies (essentially, terrible everywhere).

It's a tricky one is immigration. I can't say I'm totally against immigration because I'm the daughter of immigrants, I view Britain as my home, I am terrifically proud of my British passport and feel very privileged to have been born and brought up in Britain. Like many people of immigrant descent I do feel there should be strict controls on immigration though and you should respect the country that took you in! As my Dad said 'if you go to live in another country, you treat it with respect, you don't expect everyone to turn into an Indian just because you moved there!'

The problem is, no country's indigenous population wants to feel as if they are being taken over and their own customs disregarded. No doubt where there is a large immigrant population, they may feel as if they want a bigger say or more control over state matters, it can create BIG problems.

That said, controls should be across the board covering all colours, creeds etc... and as a British national I would expect that I would be subject to immigration controls in all other countries, it works both ways.

I have never had problems in Poland and I do think there are far worse places for prejudices.

You have a good point! Very few people in this world have no prejudices and you can't rid yourself of them if you don't admit you have them!

Sometimes you can never get over your prejudices but if you can control them and not hurt anyone with them, well that's all anyone can ask.

Life / Welcome to Poland ! (Stay away for your own sake) [239]

@Jose67
I'm sorry that you are having some bad experiences but honestly this can happen anywhere. I'm not particularly biased towards Poland and I can be critical of both the country and the people but truthfully it's no worse than most places as far as racism goes. Like all countries it has it's share of racism, homophobia, domestic violence, sexism and every other nasty habit going; try living in the British Midlands or rural France/Germany/Belgium, you'll encounter some verbal aggro/staring etc... in these places too.

Last year me and some family members were asked to leave an accessory shop in Brum (the actual words being 'F--k off out of my shop and p-ss off back to Amritsar') because the 'gentleman' of Pakistani origin didn't want Sikhs in there!!! Oh well, his loss, we had big money for wedding shopping. Sh-t happens but I never had that happen in Lodz!

Yes from where i come, there's no racism based on someone's skin colour or religion because that's ****** stupid and just proves how ignorant people are.

Sorry but I have to take you up on this one! Both myself and family members have travelled extensively in the Middle East and we have been subjected to excessive racism! The way the Arab countries treat Asians is not nice at all!! My brother works for Medicin Sans Frontiers

and the racial abuse he's met has been horrific, the worst being a stint in Gaza. That said we have also met nice people in the Middle East too. There's good everywhere.

Stick with it in Poland, there are plenty of good people if you let yourself find them!

This behaviour is norm of Poland and that's my opinion after all.

I have to speak as I find, we've never had trouble in Poland but I haven't visited Wroclaw. I hope your experiences improve considerably. I don't know how recently this all happened to you but feelings about the Paris bombings/Muslims are running pretty high among the immigrant/expat Poles in my local area, hopefully this was just a temporary blip in people's usual behaviour.

I think you must be going to all the wrong places because this sort of behaviour is not the norm for Poland. I'm British Asian and visit Poland at least 3 times a year, a very run down part of Lodz. The worst that has ever happened to me is a drunk leering and going 'hmmmm chocolate'. My boys, who are darker than me, have had no bother at all.

I'm not saying racism never happens in Poland but it is fairly rare!
I have had the odd spat with Polish expats in my home area but that was more personal than racist as such.
Bad things happen everywhere,Poland is no worse than any other place.

Firstly I hope that none of your family or friends have been hurt in the Paris incidents.
I'm afraid that the support for Le Pen is rapidly increasing. My brother who lives in Paris; often complains about the number of people who like Le Pen and the few people he spoke to today were rambling on about the need for change!!

Sadly I have noticed a massive increase in support for NOP amongst the Poles that live in my area. Poles I know, who had never spoken about politics in years, were posting anti immigrant memes on FB today.

Love / Portuguese Boy with a Polish Girl - she is more conservative than others. How to approach her? [24]

T

I think you have misinterpreted what Jon357 is writing. It is unusual for even devout Catholics to say Halloween parties are against their religion. The Catholic church down the road from me organises one every year! apparently the priest is a real fire and brimstone type too!!

It's likely that the lady in question enjoys the OP's attention but either has a boyfriend already or doesn't fancy the OP enough for a date?

@Portuguese boy, just ask her if she'd like a coffee/tea one break/lunchtime/after college, you'll soon find out if she's genuine. Don't be too upset if she's not interested; most females enjoy a bit of flattery as long as it doesn't go too far, doesn't mean they want a romantic relationship with the man though. :(

Love / Help, I need advice about long distance relationship with Polish guy in Poland [8]

Hi
First of all, let your boyfriend know that your spoken Polish is poor and request that speaks English over the phone. Learn some Polish, it may well come in useful for the future.

I don't think that your age difference will be any problem, two years is small and Polish men do go out with older women. Africans often age better than Caucasians anyway.

Long distance relationships are hard but twelve hours travelling distance is not insurmountable.

As for being black I don't think colour will be a huge issue. I am Asian and had a relationship with a Polish man and my colour didn't present any problem in Poland it'self.

I spent and still spend a lot of time in Poland and have never been hassled about being Asian. My relationship broke up because of differences in values and lifestyles ( and the fact he drank too much).

I am still very close to his family and have far more contact with them than he does, they don't acknowledge his current (long standing) partner who is Polish, so being African may be no problem at all.

My ex was an expatriate Pole in Britain, I think that expatriate communities have their own problems and are not always representative of their original homelands. If you want marriage from the relationship it would probably be easier to live in Poland, we always got on far better when we were in Poland, it's a nice place with quite a lot going for it as a home.

You seem worried about him wanting to come to Sweden for Christmas, it could be that he wants to make sure that the relationship is solid before you meet his family. He probably just wants to be sure it's not a holiday romance.

Good luck for the future :)

There's an old saying 'if you're good enough to bed, then you're good enough to wed'.
If the lady wants to remain a virgin until she's married, that's her right and all respect to her.
If you don't want to marry her, then go and find someone who wants sex before marriage.
You are being totally selfish for trying to get her to have sex,if I were the lady I would be introducing your bum to my foot!!!

Life / Polish people and racism. [943]

When Muslims will establish ghettos in the large cities of Poland, telling Polish people to leave because this is a "Muslim area" and trying to establish Sharia law by voting it in the courts, you will understand why I am so anti-Islam.

I agree that Muslims should not be asking for Sharia Law or any special treatment but that works for all minorities, respect the country you live in. It means white races/ Christians get no special favours either when they live in Black/Non Christian countries. Immigration is okay if controlled carefully and one race doesn't try to overtake another.

sorry to say madam but you dont have heart

I definitely have a heart, I miss my late husband because he was handsome, funny, clever and kind NOT as a meal ticket or money provider I can provide for myself.

Having a man doesn't make a woman happy, having the company of the right person enhances happiness, there is a difference !!!!!!
