Work / Working in Lodz - work without speaking Polish? [25]

Have justed moved to Lodz from Dublin at the weekend. With a 1 year old in tow it's been....interesting :D

Have been here a fair bit, 10-12 times and to be honest while parts of it are depressing, it's no worse than any other city I've been in Grubas. (graffiti aside which is a bit OTT in some areas)

How long have you lived here Irish?

Love / Do Irish / British guys like Polish girls? [138]

Have to say when read that comment I laughed out loud....as did my Polish wife and as did her Polish friends. Not sure what type of people you hang around with but you might need to expand your horizons a bit. For example the same could be said about Polish in Ireland (those who seem to include kurwa in every second sentence etc etc)...they area subsection. There's also the highly educated Poles here for example working in financial service sector etc etc. It's why making sweeping statements is usually a stupid thing to do.

As for depression and mental problems well a simple wiki search shows a that Poland has a much higher suicide rate per head of population than Ireland. Of course that's only one indicator but there are more. That's not to say mental health isn't an issue. It is sadly a huge problem for Poland, Ireland and indeedmany countries in Europe. The stigma associated with it is terrible, ironically given your comments about narrow mindedness earlier in your comment your highlighting it as a negative about Irish men is..well....narrow minded.

Good to see you are happy with your Polish partner but seriously...get out more before....

Work / My friend is looking for a job in Poland with a physics degree [32]

Many multinational financial institutions when firing focus less on the contents of the degree but rather the difficulty and dedication required to achieve it. Put it this way, I want work in an American bank in Dublin where a successful manager has his degree in microbiology specializing in diseases. Competencies can be picked up while book learning is often sadly irrelevant to your daily tasks, the ability to absorb and understand complex processes however is a valuable skillet.

History / A little reminder for those Brits that ***** about Poles [143]

I think to be fair (and contradicting myself somewhat) the cold hard truth was that the Soviets had millions of men in situ. Even if Britain had pressed hard its unlikely even with military action they would have achieved anything. The US wanted the war in Europe over asap so could focus on Japan, while the British forces were not equipped take on the SU.

Stalin was paranoid beyond belief but cunning as a fox. It certainly leaves a bad taste in the mouth though

UK, Ireland / Why can't unemployed Polish people on benefits just leave UK and go home please? [240]

Oh the irony. A BNP support going on a monologue about corrupt, swindling politicians.

Hell your own right wing ilk believe the BNP and Nick Griffin are corrupt

thebritishresistance.co.uk/guest-writers/1246-panorama-an-alternative-viewpoint-from-paul-golding

Now lets take a little wander through the BNP's activities of late:

guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/apr/23/bnp-nick-griffin-race - where Nick Griffin claims 'bloodless genocide'. Yeah, I'm sure Rwandans and the survivors of the Shoah would agree with the use of the word genocide this context. But then again, he's always claimed the Jewish Holocaust was a myth, did he not? Oh yes and was known to spout rubbish about Jewish Conspiracies while defending the Ku Klux Klan. Niceeeee

dailymail.co.uk/news/election/article-1273583/General-Elect ion-2010-BNP-candidate-Bob-Bailey-filmed-fighting-Asian-men-key-battle-ground-Barking.html

From your own newpaper of choice, BNP candidate kicking a youth multiple times while he was lying prone on the ground. Classy.

Some video compilations of the brave souls in the BNP:

BNP/EDL violence, Stoke on Trent

youtube.com/watch?v=8zt02LfRc48
BNP shouting rascist abuse in Manchester

Interview with BNP member who discusses how the BNP used "hammers, pieces of wood, sticks and motorcycle helmets" to discuss BNP policy on "free speech" with a library caretaker and several women, hospitalizing 17. I guess their are just misunderstood?

BNP members joking about Nazi concentration camps...

Dignity you said?

UK, Ireland / WHAT IS IT ABOUT POLISH PEOPLE THAT MAKES THEM THINK THAT UK WANTS THEM? [309]

Ah RN, I am indeed happily married to a Pole. One more educated than you, who, based on your posts to date is more fluent in English than you and who adds is more involved in the local community in Ireland more than you. Is that a source of shame? Hardly. Hell if nothing else it widens the gene pool.

And your boasts of sowing your oats have an empty ring about it , do they not? It seems as if they are but distant memories.... which sadly make sense. Anyway who spends much time with one such as you is quite likely to leave at the first available opportunity.

By all means you can try drag the thread down to your level. You have yet to produce any argument which stands up to any form of scrutiny. It begs the question - why are you here since you have so little to offer? You're obviously incapable of rational thought which is why I for one will not be revisiting this thread. Let it die a lingering lonely death, much as those suffered by all narrow minded idiots who fail to evolve.

UK, Ireland / WHAT IS IT ABOUT POLISH PEOPLE THAT MAKES THEM THINK THAT UK WANTS THEM? [309]

At least one of us has lost theirs RN :D

(and no, I hate to disappoint but self relief doesn't count. Still, it's a modern world, and you and Oxon would make a cute couple. And one (luckily) where offspring are unlikely.

Just to add I have no issues with Britain, nor the majority of those live in her - indeed there are many fine British posters on the site. I may disagree with them on certain points, but can at least argue rationally with them, knowing that either they or I may be swayed by rational thoughts and facts.

Sadly however you, and indeed R.N. are the sort of people I despise, irrespective of their nationality. Any facts which prove you wrong are obviously tainted in some way, yet you can produce none of your own which stand up to the most cursory of scrutiny. The vast majority of your posts, irrespective of how they are worded, are the outpourings of a bigot and a fascist. Do I have issues with bigots and fascists? Most certainly. Indeed all decent people do, irrespective of nationality or creed.

There is perhaps nothing so sad or as pitiful as a person who denies the truth, so lost have they become in a tissue of lies of their own making

Oh Oxon Oxon, I am beginning to pity you. I really am.

Narrow minded, paranoid beyond belief, unable to adapt to change and completely ill suited to surviving in the modern world. You're a virtual dinosaur, one whose ilk are likewise dying out as they suffer from the tortuous process of trying to justify why they can't find work (varies from day to day between 'not wanting to work for THE MAN' to 'unable to get a job because of those bloody immigrants') when in fact the fact is, it's their attitudes and actions which make them unemployable.

I'm not sure if medication or counseling is the way forward, or indeed has already been proposed, a long term 'retreat' off South Georgia. Either way, the sooner you realize that the answer to your ills is located far closer to home that 'those damn foreigners' the better for you. And indeed the better for all of us as we no longer have to put up with your fantastical paranoia and self-delusional rants.

Presented with hard facts, and you try and weasel your way out of it. This may be something of an eye opener but those surveys only confirm what everyone else pretty much higher knew anyway - your 'views' are not representative of the wider public opinion. Thank the gods.

I'm guessing that you will try pass this off claiming the majority are sheep, that all the facts represented are due to some kind of Polish-Zionist conspiracy and that only you and your friends in UKIP and the BNP see the 'truth'. Crackpot.

UK, Ireland / Unemployed Poles in Ireland : a crash course in milking the system [323]

They no more milk the system than the locals, in fact a damn sight less.

To be honest haven't really understand your point Noreen, more my fault than yours I suspect, but Poles are treated no different to anyone else in Ireland, local or foreign. Well aside from some small differences, like requesting PESEL numbers on some forms, and having forms available in Polish (they are also available in German, French etc as well)

UK, Ireland / WHAT IS IT ABOUT POLISH PEOPLE THAT MAKES THEM THINK THAT UK WANTS THEM? [309]

I have given reasons across multiple threads. As indeed have numerous other people, exposing your arguments for the nonsense they are.

If you are indeed going to emigrate, and oh how we long for that day, may I politely propose the Antarctic? Or perhaps a remote uninhabited island with no internet connection? Think of it! You can start your own Utopia far from the sight of prying eyes or indeed any human contact whatsoever. That way, everyone wins.

From Wexford, not that it matters.

As for going to 'white countries', not sure the Native Americans would agree. Or indeed Argentina as a throwaway example where large numbers of Irish emigrated in 19th century.

@Harry true enough.

Am Irish, same as you much to my disgust. Have no agenda, just have an intense dislike of narrow minded bigots who will twist any fact to suit their argument.

And now migrants are to blame for property bubble as well. Damn. Just what else are those pesky foreigners responsible for? It's blatantly obvious you're a troll. My own fault I guess for arguing with a fool. You'll try bring me down to your level and beat me on experience.

History / Poland did reasonably well in land terms out of the postwar settlement [270]

To be fair the Soviets played a massive part in the 'cleansing' although of course some Poles used the situation to their own benefit. As indeed has happened in every land since monkeys started beating each other with sticks.

My wife's grandfather, when prodded, reluctantly told stories of the time in the immediate aftermath of 'liberation'. Anyone suspected of being German or of German ancestry was shot by the Russians. This was a guy who has suffered seizures up until his death last year after a severe beating from an SS officer by the way - and yet even he looked upon these acts with disgust. He gave one example of a German family who had been living in their area long before the war. Even during the war they treated the locals as they always did i.e. treated others they expected to be treated themselves (much to the disdain of other Germans who were settled there).

The entire family tried to flee in advance of the Soviet army were caught, identified by a local Polish guy - the entire family were summarily executed, men, women and children.

It's a microcosm of any vicious conflict, and is no more indicative of Polish behaviour than that of any people or nation who have been liberated. The excesses were certainlu aided and abetted by Stalin's Russia but he was hardly any gentler with his own countrymen (and Russians)

UK, Ireland / WHAT IS IT ABOUT POLISH PEOPLE THAT MAKES THEM THINK THAT UK WANTS THEM? [309]

Unusual argument. Stupid people lacking a vocabulary get jobs whereas intelligent ones I presume sit on their arse all day (in your case 'hungry' and wondering how to pay bills as I believe one of your previous monologues stated)

I'd love to see this viewpoint justified (in a way which makes sense)

:D you think anyone not from Dublin is a farmer's child. Hmm might need to broaden those horizon's a bit.

Might surprise you to know I work in the IFSC. It's full of 'scab' workers and culchiesas you so quaintly put it and yet surprisingly the IFSC is doing quite well - indeed it's a major employer.

Imagine that, a multinational corporation functioning without the guiding hand of Dubliners and/or xenophobes. Quite remarkable.

Anyway, maybe a browse through the information provided below will help open the blinkers a little bit. I don't hold out much hope of it given your attitude to date but hey, you can only head a horse to water as they say...

The below highlights exactly why migrants are required in Ireland:

forfas.ie/media/egfsn051027_role_of_migration.pdf

The link below discusses the link between immigrants and wages. Far from having the negative impact some have put forward, the results are very mixed and indeed reflects completely different picture in some areas.
