Study / Lodz, new international school for kids? [22]

Lodz is great, there are lots of English in Lodz now it seems.

Don't know much about English schools in Lodz though, i'm looking for somewhere in Lodz that they teach Polish to English people.

My Polish is still very rusty.

Polonia / Where do you live, in Poland or abroad? [28]

I stay in Łódź, resident of UK and work away.

Prefer Łódź, it is a much nicer city than it was 10 years ago and also I know my way around this city.

Law / British living in Poland - tax treaty with the UK? [30]

You don't have to live in UK for more than 183 days to be a UK resident.

Owning property in UK and having a British Passport means you can be a UK resident while living abroad.

You can then pay UK tax and not in the rest of the EU.

Law / British living in Poland - tax treaty with the UK? [30]

It is more complicated than that. You can be dual resident in UK and Poland if you own property in UK and are resident in Poland.

The only way to know is to go on the HMRC websites and answer the questionnaires with your exact circumstances.

Life / What are the things which cause culture shock in Poland? [164]

It's a huge myth! Cold air cannot by itself cause sickness - you need to come into contact with the germs in question. Otherwise, if it were true, how could anyone work in a cold environment?

I have seen people sleep outside and wake up with a really bad fever, I myself have also woken with a very high fever from being exposed to cold temperatures. No bugs involved and I was back to normal within about 36 hours.

I have lived and worked in very cold temperatures and very hot temperatures and I have been sick due to this numerous times but carried on working.

It is not a myth and letting yourself get cold for no good reason is not a good idea.

Life / What are the things which cause culture shock in Poland? [164]

I have seen this with the kids from UK parents too.
My Mum always asked if my nephews needed a jacket even when I was only wearing a T-Shirt.

My Parents have always told me it is a Grandparents right to buy the bad food and sweets for their Grandchildren.
They are not the bad guys when the Grandchildren are growing up. :)

@Delphiandomine

It is not a myth about being cold causing sickness.
It has happened to me more than once.
Being too hot also causes sickness too.
The body is working harder to heat / cool itself so the immune system looses some of its ability to fight bugs.

Study / Studying in University of Lodz as an Indian student? What's the city like - is it safe here? [56]

The main areas of the city, where the university is, is perfectly safe for foreigners.

I have never seen any trouble in my time in £ódź with foreigners.
My friends say that some of the poorer housing areas are not safe for anyone, even Polish people, walking alone at night.

I don't think you will need to visit any of these poor areas during your studies, so you should be fine.
The University has a really big language school for teaching foreigners Polish to help with studies so I think lots of foreign students come here to study.

Some of the graffiti in £ódź is really good, there are lots of large paintings paid for by the city on the buildings now too.

By Kaliska there is graffiti of the late Pope, it is rather good.

For me £ódź is a really great place to live, the old buildings are being refurbished and the ones completed now look really good.

There are numerous Palaces and Parks and the transport system is very good. I never use my car because the trams and buses are so reliable.

All my friends who went to the University say it was really good and they enjoyed it, I don't know about the English language side of it though.

Over the last 8 years £ódź has changed a lot and is much nicer than my first visit.
We have had to put up with a lot of renovation work for roads, trams and buildings but when it is finished it is all worth it.

For me the best thing in £ódź is there are hardly any tourists but with the transport links A1 and A2 crossing here, you can visit the rest of Poland quite easily.

To the OP, when will you arrive in £ódź?

UK, Ireland / Why English do not like Polish? [417]

At Jakers.

Where in Poland did you visit? I have never found a problem in Poland in the Non Tourist areas. People have never been rude to me and I see my friends all having fun and enjoying themselves.

England is a dump and is in a much worse state than Poland. There is more money in the jobs in England but money is not everything in life.

Britain is just a joke now, they cannot do anything on the world stage without being American lapdogs.

I like the Polish more than I like my own countrymen.

Real Estate / How to buy an apartment in Poland - can I pay in full cash? [20]

I have bought 2 apartments in Poland without Bank Credit and I have not had any problems.

I just signed the Akt Notarialny without transferring any funds to the developer.
Now I must send the agreed amounts by the dates specified.

A sworn translator is a better bet than paying for a lawyer, they are trained for these scenarios too.

Law / EU citizen - Register in Poland - Amount of a bank account [8]

I needed to give a photo copy of my Credit Card, not a statement just the actual card front and back, then a photocopy of my EU101 Health Insurance card.

Then I got my 3 month residence permit.

When I got my address I was then able to get a 5 year Temporary residence and PESEL Number.

News / Does democratic Poland guarantee it's LGBT citizens respect for human and civil rights? [1169]

could you explain how, exactly?

Search the media, I am not here to do your research.
Maybe if people actually researched both sides of an argument they might have a balanced argument.

There you go again. People are people and rights must be the same regardless of sexuality, skin colour, religion or culture.

You quoted the line I wrote in your post. I think that is what you wrote above and what I have written in all my posts.

I will highlight the main point of my posts in case you missed it.

News / Does democratic Poland guarantee it's LGBT citizens respect for human and civil rights? [1169]

I did, and your 'straight pride' allusion is rather odd. Frankly a bit 'Daily Mail'

From this I guess you actually read the Daily Mail however I do not read toilet paper.

It is very evident that you are Pro Gay and Anti Straight people, it would be nice if you could have a balanced argument but that seems to be too far for you. As I stated I want Equality everywhere, I see the issue from both sides and it is now not equal but the opposite way.

News / Does democratic Poland guarantee it's LGBT citizens respect for human and civil rights? [1169]

You both do not wish to see the point.

If they want Equality then Equality is what they should have.
At the moment the LGBT values are being forced onto the Christians as the Christians are labelled as Homophobes and bigots if they have an opposite viewpoint.

This is NOT equality, everything has just swapped polarity. 2 Wrongs do not add up to being OK.

Before you label me, as you are trying, I am not Homophobic or a religious person.

I am Anti Discrimination, be it Positive or Negative. I advocate true equality only.

They do not in any sense.

Read back up the posts!

If I organised a Straight Pride event I would be called a Homophobe. Gay people organising a Gay Pride event are not called Hetrophobes.

News / Does democratic Poland guarantee it's LGBT citizens respect for human and civil rights? [1169]

You are missing the point.

Equality is equality. It cannot swap to the opposite extreme and be called equality.

2 wrongs do not make a right.

The LGBT rights now outweigh the majorities rights, this is not equality.
There are a lot of people in Poland with Conservative Christian Values, why do LGBT opinions over rule the Christian opinions?
If it is the Human Right of the LGBT crowd to have their opinions it should equally be the Human right of the Christian crowd to their opinions.

Travel / Which cities in Poland are nice to visit [80]

For me the best place to visit is Torun's Old town.

I also like the city of Lodz, it is the most improved Polish city.
It is much much nicer than it was 10 years ago.

Love / How to make a guy (Polish or other) happy? [62]

The way to make a man happy is to ask him what makes him happy.
We don't all think in the same way.
Compromise and talk to each other is the only way to keep a relationship going.
Each relationship is unique, even if it is the same two people who get together later in life.

UK, Ireland / City management - differences between Poland and UK [20]

AFAIK, then the management of the block (housing association or cooperative) makes this declaration and the whole block either segregates the garbage or not. But I live in a detached house, so I am not sure about it.

The management company responsible for the apartment block ask all the residents if they want to segregate or they want to continue paying more tax. After the vote they implement what was decided.

I think in Lodz from 2016 all apartment blocks must segregate their waste and the management company need to organise communal areas into the correctly segregated bins.

Law / Right Hand Drive cars in Poland 'indefinitely' but not registered - doable? [21]

I wouldn't want to register a RHD car in Poland. I just bought a LHD car instead.
I found that the road system and other road users in Poland meant the RHD cars were harder to drive than LHD cars.

The only problem I have is my UK paperwork said Vauxhall so my Polish paperwork now says Vauxhall.
It has the Opel badges though :)

News / Poland to (temporarily) restore internal Schengen borders [15]

At the Swiecko border crossing there are always people randomly being stopped, I have been stopped a few times when driving in my German Reg car.

Not been stopped in my UK registered car though.

I am driving back through on the 19th Nov so hopefully there are no delays.

Law / Moving to Poland - How do I get the Polish Identity Card [17]

will I need this in order to open a bank account?

When I opened my account 5 years ago, I used my passport but I also needed a polish address to open the bank account.
I used my girlfriends address.
Then changed the address to a UK address after the paperwork arrived at the address.

It took me 4 weeks to get a PESEL number as an EU citizen. I bought my flat this summer before I got my PESEL number.

Law / Registering in Poland for a NIP tax number? [9]

I was given a PESEL number so I can take out contracts for insurance, mobile phone etc

I am classed as permanently living in UK but temporarily living in Poland for the next 5 years.
There is no affect on you living back in Ireland.

Real Estate / Apartment Rental Agencies in Łódź [16]

Basically making money from nothing and a very untrustworthy bunch.

I don't know about Polish rental agencies but I do know that my UK rental agency that I use is Hassle free and has been for the last 7 years.

You just need to ensure you find a good agency. The OP I assume wants a list so that they can research them all and pick a reputable agency.

Love / Younger Polish girl 24 dating old man [21]

Your English is very poor and you just used the word "Mom"

I am with the others here, you're not from the UK. Just give up as you've been rumbled.
