Travel / Which city is better to visit: Warsaw or Krakow? [169]

Krakow

Warsaw reminded me of just a bunch of other cities. Krakow does cater to the tourists, which, as others are saying here, at some point turned into a bad thing. But Warsaw doesn't have an equivalent to Wawel. So, you need to see that first and foremost

Which city is best to see during Christmas

While I don't know about the 30+ women availability, I might almost vote for Warsaw at Christmas time. Someone else can correct me if I don't have all the facts. But it seems Warsaw is lit up with a bunch of lights around Christmas...the old town, Nowego Swiat (?) street, that area all seemed very pretty. I was in Krakow in January, so maybe all Christmas related things were already gone. So perhaps I'm being unfair

And based on the number of people there then, I imagine Krakow gets VERY overrun with tourists in certain seasons

Love / Fell in love with a Polish girl, but find it difficult to approach her [620]

lol i gave them valentines cards and i said i bet you wish it was david beckham or bradpitt giving you this card ,they said no there not as nice as you we would rather have a card from you ,your better looking than both of them lol talk about girls talking rubbish and telling lies you ever heard girls talk so much rubbish lol

I could be completely wrong, because I don’t have experience in this area, but it seems to me the girls are acting this way because there is a kind of safety in numbers, as far as flirting. As long as they are both there, together (and I notice when you quote them you use the word “we”) they are counting on you to NOT single one of them out for anything more than flirting.

Clearly you guys all enjoy what you’re doing right now, and if you are interested in one of them, then by all means go for it…you never know :) but from what I’ve read, I don’t think either of them have deeper feelings for you….yet. Two girls giggling while you flirt with both of them….I don’t see it. It means nothing. One girl glaring daggers at the other for not leaving the two of you alone. Much more indicative :)

And that’s MY female logic :)

Language / Free online polish to english translation service? [18]

Really? I think poltran.com is AWESOME! Works so much better than

tranexp.com:2000/Translate/result.shtml (of course, the latter translates way more languages than Polish)

Whatever I look up on poltran that doesn't translate right, I check with polish.slavic.pitt.edu/dictionary.pdf. Just do a search for whatever the word you want translated is. It helps a lot if you understand the different endings....but you can still search for the word regardless... :)

News / What's the stupidest question asked about Poland? [414]

My friend from Poland was asked (by someone in America) "Do you have cell phones there?"
She said yes.

So then the guy asked if they had electricity in Poland. To which my friend decided to reply "no"
then came:
"so how do you charge your cell phone?"

Hehe... Americans...you can't put anything past us :)

Off-Topic / An English Version of Gadu-Gadu? [105]

So...with guesswork and a dictionary, I downloaded gadu-gadu a while ago. But once I was set up on that, I changed my Skype language from English to Polish...and looked for correlating terms between the two programs.

It kinda worked :)
But why look for an English version of gg? Isn't the whole point to figure it out and learn more Polish in the process? :P

ukpolska is right to suggest the wikipedia site. It gives some basic info on the program. I found it helpful
