Classifieds / Startup people (Ontario, Canada)? [7]

For Europe, I'd consider Cyprus (there are many successful startup businesses by people from Poland and Eastern Europe there).

USA, Canada / Has anyone received US visa on temporary Polish passport? [3]

It'd be interesting to know if you were successful (it seems that a temporary passport should be considered as a valid / legal document); if you have no criminal records I'd assume you should be able to get the visa.

Genealogy / Need help with last name Hurkato [4]

Pelagia is definitely a Polish (a little old-fashioned) first female name. But Hurkato.. it could be Polish but it would be very rare if it was.

Law / Marriage celebrant question - considering trying to get married in Poland using a paid celebrant if possible [2]

The best bet would be Las Vegas ;) But Poland is (rightfully) conservative and it's not easy, if possible, to find a 'marriage celebrant.' Actually, USC Civil office person is such a celebrant. In the US it's possible for any married man to work as such. I doubt you'd find a legitimate priest to do the job, unless you pay enough money - then it may be possible.

Travel / Poland - never again [593]

It looks you went to some public hospitals? You'd have much better luck if you went to a private clinic; there are many of them in Warsaw and I'm sure they are open 7 days a week. Whoever advised you (a taxi driver?) to choose a public hospital during the weekend was not too friendly to you; public hospitals in Poland or on a stand-by mode on Saturdays and Sundays and have a limited number of doctors working then.

UK, Ireland / Polish Beer In The UK [98]

Is there a good British (maybe except for the Irish Guinness) beer that Poles actually like? : )

Study / I'm thinking to study in the Wrocław University of Science and Technology [55]

Your degree will not be fully transferable in the US (but not because you'd get a diploma from a Polish university - that's how the system works there). I'd expect you may be able to get up to 50-60% of 'courses' (the better the university, the less percentage - they want you to pay them as much as possible, that's why they are not willing to transfer many courses). Still, having 50% will save you about 1.5-2 years so it's not that you'd have to start from scratch.

Law / Residence Permit Via Marriage to a Polish woman? [5]

You'd surely have to register your marriage in Poland, that's a start (you'd most likely have to have it translated / notarized into Polish - such 'certified translations / notarizations' are expensive to do in Poland so you may want to use a certified Polish translator in your current country to have it ready when it's needed.

Work / Job Scam in Poland! Attention Bangladeshi People! [3]

Why would they want to hire Bangladesh people - they can have them manufacture whatever they need in Bangladesh for 3 times cheaper (or more) and have it shipped to Poland. Not sure who'd pay 3000 EURO just for a work permit / or 'work promise'? I'm sure such scams are global and Poland is one of the targets only.

Off-Topic / Can't register on this Polish website? [6]

Must be the issue on their end indeed; tried another browser too ; | The best may be to email them directly, they should know English ;)

Off-Topic / Can't register on this Polish website? [6]

I tried to register but couldn't - after entering all the fields correctly, nothing happens (it appears it was successful but there is no confirmation on that). You may try to contact them via the contact form.

- The 'Potwierdź hasło' (Password again) must match the Hasło value entered above.
- The Nick: field is available (click on the 'Sprawdź dostępność' / 'Check availability' to check if it's available).
- Enter a proper 'Kod z obrazka' (Captcha field).
- Set on the two checkboxes to accept the Terms and data processing.

News / Only 37% of Poles read a book in 2017 [13]

It's not shocking at all; actually the 37% appears to be very high compared to the US or Australia. Poles (and people in general) read much more online so in fact they read multiple books over a period of a year. The bad thing is what they read is mostly propaganda or fake news, so you're right that a good book a year is a must *)

Life / Can I sell my used clothes in Poland? [21]

A lot of Poles have success on allegro.pl, but it may not be worth setting up an account etc. just to sell used clothes. You may also look up 'komis' in your area - they should accept good quality clothes too (locally).

Off-Topic / WB's body building and general fitness thread [97]

My advice is to wrap it up before it's too late (ie. before the permanent damage is irreversible) and focus exclusively on body weight exercises, speed walking, and running. You'd be surprised you cannot run 2 miles within 15 minutes now and you will in a year or so ;)

Off-Topic / WB's body building and general fitness thread [97]

Better than expected. Still, my 'problem' with bodybuilding is that you must be 100% devoted to it; when you take a longer break you end up where you were a year ago. That includes diet (when you stop working out you gain weight faster than you'd normally would).
