Love / Woman 23, man 47 years old. What do you think about ? [162]

Well, I'm a 47 year old woman with a 21 year old man...life is good! LOL!

What could you two possibly have in common after the sex is over?

"Hey. Will you give me a ride to my friends Fraternity party?"

History / Memos show US hushed up Soviet crime against Poland [97]

Nazis are a never ending broken record in USA culture used to fuel white guilt. The message is clear: the white/blonde haired/blue eyed Euros are oppressive.

The narrative of Hitler is then portrayed on current leaders, to create backing for attacks and occupations (Iraq).

History / Memos show US hushed up Soviet crime against Poland [97]

This is a very anti-semitic statement.

This comment was completely true and perfectly timed. Well done

"But not here. We needed our Nuremberg, like in Germany. But we never had it. And until we start discussing the problem of communism on the level Solzhenitsyn started 50 years ago, we'll still live in this half-Soviet country which wants to be part of mankind, but is afraid of information about its own history."

This is completely spot on.

In Western culture, in terms of WW2: Germany gets too much blame, USA too much credit

Genealogy / Can one become Polish? [21]

It's becoming more possible as Polish society Westernizes.... which waters down Polish culture in some ways.

Love / My Polish Relationship Marriage ..story to be told. [USA/PL] [34]

My experience has been that USA society drastically changes Poles. At a much much more accelerated pace than the new Westernization of Poland is currently doing. Changing as in putting family and values (Communist strengths) behind money and entertainment (Capitalistic strengths) Long story short it's difficult for many people to accept the new home without letting go of everything from their past home. We saw this with Polish-Jews moving to the USA after the Holocaust and Polish immigrants throughout the past 3 decades. Otherwise the individual is constantly stuck in limbo, comparing the two systems and countries. Never truly happy. It's much easier to do what I would state is the attitude of most Polish immigrants (Not my family): USA is land of opportunity and although it's not perfect, it beats standing in long lines for food or having Russia turn off the gas etc. My point being it seems like she used her parents (negative) experience in Europe to shape the goals she wanted in the USA.

But the tricky part is that a significant amount has changed in the USA & Poland the last 10 years. USA was a booming economy and culture before 9/11. Now 10 years later, Poland is a solid weight in the European Union and the USA is IMO a sinking ship (Whites minority by 2043. Rap dominates Pop Culture, Addiction to Sports, Declining Education etc etc). I think this might add to her uncertainty. Her stakes in the USA are even bigger now because she invested 10+ years and......IMO life in Europe is better for the middle class. I could see why as the USA declines, she feels the need to jump ship and find a partner who is very safe economically, if not booming. Add to that point, you live in NYC. The capital of the Haves & the Have nots.

Just to assure everyone, this Polish girl wasn't way out of your league in terms of looks right? If she is, then that would explain the sex issue. Kinda off subject but Poles are known for their passion. Many times acting with their heart before their brain. USA has been a "Super-power" for 70 years, turning them lazy. During that period the white-male in this country has been beaten over the head with the Civil Rights movement and then the Womens Movement. My point being: Maybe you need some passion in your life. At your still young age, this is exactly what you need.

It sounds like you wanted an immigrant wife that would be obedient and motherly but you went to the wrong place. Eastern Europe (Yes I know Poland is central now) is no longer like it was 10-15 years ago. For better and worse, the economical expectations are higher.

SeanSmartsNY

My advice:
1) Do not have a kid
2) Obtain as much evidence: adultry, her financial status, anything really
3) Lawyer up
4) Divorce
5) Buy PS3
6) Game on

No. No. No.

Gym before Buy PS3

News / Is it true that the Polish has signed to take on the Euro in 2015? [12]

There are economic guidelines that Poland must pass. This article explains it all

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poland_and_the_euro

Blessing in disguise, we were turned down in 2009
"In an interview for Rzeczpospolita daily 22 October 2009 he also said Poland could adopt the euro in 2014 if the general government deficit is reduced in 2012"

Now it's us dragging our feet to the original agreement. We caught a huge break because we are in position of power now given our expanding economy. At this point Euro needs us more than we need the Euro. It would be idiotic to switch currencies in the next 5 years (atleast)

Public WiFi spots?

90% of (responsible) users have a password on their Network. 99% in high traffic areas like apartment complexes or college areas.

USA, Canada / Differences in How Polish People Raise a Child and How Americans Raise a Child [149]

Agreed. The good and the bad of Capitalism. Education and family unfortunately declines for "more stuff" and in some nations within time......for daily safety.

I know I was a little hard on our American friends. Most Americans don't have the option/ability even if they were raised in a more loving household and I think that's the teetering dangerously close part you are expressing, facing todays Polish society.

Judging by your posts I assume you would prefer Poland to slow down it's growth and take a more long term approach? Then again, do you really see Poland taking a back seat to any other of the ''new Euro additions''. Quick short term wealth is undoubtedly in place to be made.....but for whom?

What were your thoughts on the retirement age raise?

USA, Canada / Differences in How Polish People Raise a Child and How Americans Raise a Child [149]

To answer the OP:

Family and especially children is #1 in Polish culture. Entertainment and wealth is #1 in American culture (Because Americans are drilled ''This is the freeist and greatest country in the world'' from a young age)

You can read between the lines in some of the responses by Americans in this thread: "I was raised at a very young age to be independent and to fed for myself" Yadda yadda. That's because your American parents were probably too busy watching Football and praying to Ronald Reagan.

Stick with the Polish upbringing. There is a reason why family structure in Poland puts US to shame and that has translated to better success in the classroom (in England), as well as less crime, etc. It all starts with parents/the household and then school. American parents rely on college sorority ****** and (by at large) below average schools to raise their children. It's shocking and Americans declining standard of living illustrates the after effects.

In Polish culture it's always better safe than sorry. In America this lack of logic is apparent in every day American life.

News / 1.3% birth rate = Poland's slow death [221]

MarcinD
Freudian slip? You wrote: '...people that grew up in large values themselves', when you obviously meant 'large families'. According to the Freudians, that slip-up suggests that deep down you believe large families are a positive value, but wanting to seem 'modern' and going with today's mainstream popcultrure flow, you are suppressing that thought..

Oops, my apologies Polonius3 for the misunderstanding

I certainty see the positives of a large household & it is difficult to find any negatives in having a large extended family around (Grandparents, Uncles, Cousins etc). But the problem is financial

Unless you are wealthy or live in the city outskirts, it is difficult to afford a large household. I grew up with my own room, I would feel weird forcing two of my children to share a room for example. Such freedoms are eliminated once more children come into the equation. I personally rather give my children every privilege & advantage possible versus splitting my time & money between multiple children

News / 1.3% birth rate = Poland's slow death [221]

My opinion on Polands declining Birth Rate

- If Poland wants to remain a homogenous nation, this is bad

- If Poland wants to continue improving economically as a whole, this is good

Having lots of children is an out-dated cultural norm. I notice it to be still prevalent in religious circles and/or people that grew up in large values themselves. Having grown up as a Polish immigrant in the USA, I obviously did not have much extended family around and a 3rd child would have heavily crippled our family economically.

My expectation is to have 2 children (Same as my parents) and a 3rd or 4th would depend entirely on our economic situation at the time. Considering I am already in my late 20's, I doubt I will have more than 2 or 3.

Nations that are over-populated, are usually undesirable to live in. High-birth rates is still practiced in regions like South America, Africa & the Middle East. This is not by coincidence.

UK, Ireland / First proper "Polish" School in the UK - The Next Stage of Ghettoisation [283]

Ultimately both sides of this debate are true & justified.

Unfortunately for OP, his Government is making these decisions on immigration etc based off of $$$. At-least English politicians are still somewhat held accountable, in America they hide behind gated communities. Poland was crippled by selfish leadership for decades & in many aspects still is. People have to realize that those in power have passports & it will be their cash/gold that protects them not a flag

'smarts' got nothing to do with it, they come here because they have nothing in Poland. Not many immigrants go to Poland because not even millions of Poles can make decent money there.

Where are you living BTW?

If it was all about $$$ then they would come to the US

Most Black people in the UK are 100% British Born and raised here.
They are my countrymen and belong here in Britain.

Foreign-Speaking, Racist, Backwards Parasites do not belong here :)

Your racism is just a prime example of the cultural differences between those people east of Germany and us Westerners in the 21st century.

The contrast in experience during WW2, the Holocaust & 70 years after for our two countries (and I'll add the American perspective) has molded the current opinions of our people

I'll keep it short: Poland was the rag doll in WW2: Invaded by two sides, betrayed by it's Western allies, continue fighting & help aid the same Western allies only to be later betrayed by them yet again in Treaty signings. Poland was thrust into this position because of it's very large Jewish population. Except for the UK, Russia & Poland, everyone else pretty much laid down their guns and went on with their daily lives. France was more than happy to help assist in the rounding up of Jews. Here is the kicker. Jews that left life in Poland behind arrived in the new lands with horror stories about Poland. Decades later with the help of bs history taught, a substantial amount of current day Jews question Poland's role in the Holocaust/Concentration Camps. Fast forward to the Western rape of Polish work industry etc.

So you see why Poles, having just gotten off the WW2 canvas are weary of foreigners back at home. I'll also add I remember watching a clip of the ''Battle of Monte Cassino''. Eventually the allies liberate Rome & it dawns on me: There were more than enough people in the town square to liberate themselves. You have to ask yourself, if Poland knew they would get no support from UK/France......how different would Polands WW2 experience be if they had done like rest of Europe did & just rounded up Jews for Hitler.

I'm surprised this comment went unnoticed.

Highlights the main cultural differences between British people (Black and White) and Eastern Europeans.

You're RACIST. We are not.

Eh. You didn't become a Melting Pot on purpose. You imperialized the Globe manipulating & murdering, and then were forced to accept immigrants that helped you kill overseas

Eventually your white women integrated with your brown & black immigrants. UK didn't do it on purpose, you were forced to. Your leaders sold out your culture for personal economic gains.

History books still regard Polska as the freeist host in European History. And Poles are smart enough to take advantage of UK's capitalistic system while not selling out it's own country to mass immigration (cheap labor)

Life / Why are Polish so conservative and religious? [240]

I'm not going to feed the troll but Poland is the Bible Belt of Europe

Although religion seems to continue to decline when comparing my grandparents-parents & myself, religious factions seem to have an unhealthy influence in Polish politics. IMO, Poland is on a healthy decline pace in terms of religion. But I do believe the Churchs' blind eye to hatred of homosexuals (I was raised Catholic & sacred marriage is not an issue with me) has fueled hatred of all others in many poor economic circles. In comparison to Western Europe & even some other Central Euro nations we are behind in that regard. As the haves & have nots continues to widen in Poland, we can't forget about the poor & let them turn to hatred/crime. Upper Silesia has the higgest crime in Poland and highest earnings & unemployment

History / Polish perspective of WW1: Germany, their Defeat & the Legend of the Stab in the Back [17]

There is a-lot of BS taught in schools about that time period. Even in US Colleges must of the general WW1 History taught is:
- Fernidad assassinated
- Every country joins to defend ally
- Trench warfare
- Germany lost
- Got really bad Treaty deal, must pay lots of $$$ & give up military
- Germany mad & secretly building military for attack
- Hate Jews because they have the $$$
- Attack Poland & kill more Jews

It's quite comical. After reading a little out of the book: ''Paris 1919: Six Months That Changed the World"

"debunks the theory that the financial burden placed on Germany as part of the war reparations was a major factor leading to Hitler's rise and WWII. Not only were the reparations significantly less than those Germany extracted from France after the 1870s Franco-Prussian War, but Germany never paid the WWI reparations and, indeed, indulged itself in such tactics as scuttling part of its navy rather than turn it over to Britain. On the other hand, she reinforces the argument that Germany did not feel compelled to accept terms of an agreement that were enforced rather than negotiated - and were determined to avenge the humiliation their representatives endured during the conference."

I'm going to argue it was ''peacemaking'' power gone drunk. Especially after the Polish Partitions, splitting up irresponsibility was the way. I'd have to argue that ultimately there were just not enough Jews in Germany at the time & there is not enough declassified information to buy into a globe wide Jewish-London-USA-Russia conspiracy or simply the German saying Dolchstoßlegende. Jews have fought on both sides of issues, I don't buy into a specific conspiracy about Jews maliciously creating Communism or the Bolsheviks hijacking the Russian Empire.

Sinking of the Lusitania was typical War propaganda at the time but many (just look at this thread) still don't know it occurred 2 years prior.

News / Why are Czechs more effective than Poles and Poland? [116]

In addition to this by surrendering without firing a shot in the 2nd War, meant that they were comparatively unscathed.

Considering this & the difference in Soviet control, it's really no surprise they were/are better off at this moment

"The Czechoslovak capitulation precipitated an outburst of national indignation. In demonstrations and rallies, Czechs and Slovaks called for a strong military government to defend the integrity of the state. A new cabinet - under General Jan Syrový - was installed, and on 23 September a decree of general mobilization was issued. The Czechoslovak army - modern and possessing an excellent system of frontier fortifications - was prepared to fight. The Soviet Union announced its willingness to come to Czechoslovakia's assistance. Beneš, however, refused to go to war without the support of the Western powers.

On 28 September, Chamberlain appealed to Hitler for a conference. Hitler met the next day, at Munich, with the chiefs of governments of France, Italy and Britain. The Czech government was neither invited nor consulted. On 29 September, the Munich Agreement was signed by Germany, Italy, France, and Britain. The Czechoslovak government capitulated on 30 September and agreed to abide by the agreement."

Of course the Germans had different treatment for us & fellow Polish-Jews

My parents always told me the Czechs were wiser during the Communism break down. Poles think with their hearts & were always quick to show their cards while the Czechs instead stood behind & waited for the right time.

Poles always joke the Czechs dream of being German

infected with the "Polska Strong" mentality or you're a Brit Pole wannabe with some Polish parentage.

The British EMPIRE going soft now? Watching the London Olympics Opening Ceremony dawned on me how similar UK & US are in terms of being melting pots. I stated to friends while I applaud the open-minded & self reflecting show the Brits put on, I would be embarrassed if Poland introduced Rap, women kissing & inter-racial couples to the Olympic games.

As stated above: Brits should be grateful the new wave of immigrants are white, christian & share western values. How would you like poor, uneducated & baby dropping immigrants from South America or Asia instead like here in the US. America sold it's culture out a long time ago for cheap labor & corporate profits

My personal experience with Poles immigrating to Southern California in the late 80's & early 90's is extreme competition within the community & not much working together. Abandoning Poland & taking on all things American. Then again maybe the American ''rat race'' system might be to blame & the US/UK today are nowhere near the influential powers the United States was in that time period.

History / Polish perspective of WW1: Germany, their Defeat & the Legend of the Stab in the Back [17]

- The Stab in the Back would be similar to Polish hard feelings towards their fellow Polish-Jews & how they in the simplest terms accepted Soviet Communism too easily. I'm not ready to jump straight to the Balfour Declaration

- I just don't see Germans accepting surrender under those circumstances. Unless we are led to believe Germany foolishly accepted a arms treaty & was truly screwed by the Allies as the age ole tale of kicking a dog while it's down.

History / Polish perspective of WW1: Germany, their Defeat & the Legend of the Stab in the Back [17]

I'll cut to the chase

As someone that has spent much time in Germany, I find it difficult to believe Germany would surrender under these circumstances:

"In November 1918 German armies were still French and Belgian territory, Berlin remained 450 miles from the nearest front, and the German armies retired from the field of battle in good order. Britain and France were too war-weary to contemplate an invasion of Germany. No Allied army had penetrated the western German frontier, and on the Eastern Front, Germany had already won the war against Russia, concluded with the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. In the West, Germany had come close to winning the war with the Spring Offensive"

I guess the next question would be Americas entrance into the War. Was it truly just an opportunity to jump the pile (benefit) from a certain Allied victory? Did the intercepted Zimmerman Telegraph truly scare America of a German/Mexican alliance?

A view into Polish opinion at the time & what is taught in Polish schools about WW1 would be great. The numbers I have seen state nearly 10% of the Polish population was Jewish so maybe this information wasn't even known.

News / Romney visits Poland: Gets support from Lech Walesa? [29]

Lech Walesa has always been critical of Obama. He is always anti-Communist & he draws comparisons between Obama & Communism.

He seems to always back the USA & in return he is highly viewed in the United States. During the Poland/Russia game, the ESPN (US) telecast showed him

Amongst some of us.It is proven that he was a snitch.

Could you add more on the subject?

This is from his Wikipedia page

Controversy

Over the years, Wałesa has been accused of having been an informer for the Polish secret police Służba Bezpieczeństwa (SB) in the early 1970s, codenamed "Bolek". Although this was long before Wałęsa emerged as a hero of the Solidarity, questions remain whether it had an effect on his later decisions; for example, making him a probable target of blackmail. On 11 August 2000, the Warsaw Appellate Court, V Wydział Lustracyjny, declared that Wałęsa's lustration statement was true - that he had not collaborated with the communist regime.[40] Nonetheless, periodically the question resurfaces.
