USA, Canada / International Marriage (Polish guy with an American girl). Polish citizenship for her? [11]

I should be charging you a fee.

Ha, true. Thanks a lot, I hope there would be someone here who'd be knowledgable in the matters. Sometimes it is difficult to filter throught all the rubbish in the net.

That is good news, one more thing that is little bit unclear to me:
Quoting wikipedia "Family members are also covered by the right of free movement, but only as a dependent of the EEA citizen." Of course a spouse is included in the definition of a family member. However, what does "a dependent of the EEA citizen" means in parcite? Is it (s)he cannot be in an EEA state him/herself, or something else?

Also, I will have to find out what right does the Green Card give you (as oppose to the citizenship).

thanks for the replies guys, for some reason I always believed that all the paperwork would be kind of automatical and hassle-free once you tied the knot. I see it seems like I was wrong...

Whats with the username, btw? Detriot is a dump.

I lived there for a year (not in the city itself though). I might be crazy but I think it is an interesting place. But I agree it does have quite a lot of a run-down areas. :-)

5 years of continued living in Poland - Yes

Well do you knoe then by any chance if getting married gives you any privilages at all when it comes to working in the EU or not? (of course considering marring an EU citizen like myself)

Any Americans out there?

not sure what do you mean...

Sorry to have to mention this, if you have not made up your mind a couple of months before the wedding are you sure she is the one for you?

My mind is made up about getting married, the big question that remains is when. :-)

USA, Canada / International Marriage (Polish guy with an American girl). Polish citizenship for her? [11]

Ok, I do apologize if such matter has been discussed before, I searched and I did not find.
I find myself in a situation when in a few months I might be getting married to an American girl (I am Polish myself). We plan to live for some time in Europe and eventually to move out to the US in a few years. There are a number of issues though. For example it will be rather troublesome for my wife-to-be to access a working permit in Europe. Could she get a Polish citizenship once getting married to me (in order to have a EU passport)? Could I also get a green card once married but living in Europe? Could our children, considering they would be born in the US get a Polish citizenship as well?

Please only serious responces and when you actually have something knowledgable to say.

Language / Polish Past Tense [47]

Po angielsku jest poprawny "It is I." NIE: "It's me." Jednak mowi sie "It's me.", bo jest akzeptowany.

Nonsense. "It is I" is not correct. "It's me" is correct.

I would never notice that somebody made a mistake if I hear "ta piosenke"..., and most Polish wouldn't... So, what's a big deal? Write something as good and useful as Ivonka does and then start to criticize.

News / What's the stupidest question asked about Poland? [414]

But anyway, whould we get offended if people ask us strange question? How the hell thay are suppose to know which language we speak in Poland? Why question about microwaves was stupid? It's actually a good question. Do we have? I had not seen a microwave in my life until I went to Canada for vacation a couple years ago. It's just that people in Poland do not use microwaves all that much because they have enough time to prepare/heat up everything traditional way.

To conclude, there are no stupid question although some seem funny to us, so it's good to laugh at some, but never get offended. :)
