History / "SOLIDARNOŚĆ" is just a word for Polish people? [47]

Hi everyone,

I was wondering that there are lot of Polish ppl who talks about "Solidarnośći " and being together and helping each other. For some they say it and act according to it just from the past experience they have been through and for some its just like sheep following a flock.

Is it the time, need, ppl, thinking ; which has changed or is it some other factor that changed the meaning of this word?

Any nice words, thoughts, explination are welcomed.

Work / Why Poland employers are afraid of hiring any foreign nationals? [171]

Most foreigners that work here in good jobs work for an international company that has operations here, not a Polish company.

Completely true, I think most of the foreigners who are working here are in some international companies not in Polish ones :)

Yes, indeed I am from Pk, but does it change anything?

Also, I don't understand what the IT skills has to do with my CV ? In which context you are talking about?

Its not necessary to be an IT expert, as far as i m concern then i have enough IT knowledge, as needed for common operations and its enough :)

Work / Why Poland employers are afraid of hiring any foreign nationals? [171]

Completely true, but don't you think that sometime the chance has to be given to some another persons another then your family members??

If it would be some Asian country then it makes sense that business remains within the family as they believe of not letting there business come into hand of some person other then family. But here its different, Poland is part of Europe and full of traditions. On one hand poles are so hospitable when it comes to welcoming and on other hand....... isn't in modern world its called hypocrisies ???

Unless you've got a good connection here it's very difficult to get a good job. Friends and acquaintances of the employer tend to have the best prospects even if they are least qualified. I think that is across the board too and not just specific to foreigners, it's 'Jobs for the Boys' as we say.

Well, to some extent its true that its necessary to have a good connection or acquaintances in finding a job, but lets not exaggerate this. I agree that it can be a global issue but still i think in Poland its bit exaggerated which is not fair.

Well I have a job !!!!!! Thank god only the strongest make in Poland not a place for the weaks !!!

I'm sorry to say but theres nothing to be happy off and to show off that you've got a job. Sometimes you have to think about fellow citizens. lets not behave like animals for heavens sake.

Let's not use the word discimination.....you can only really pull that kinda card in the UK, I dont think Poland gives a shite what foreigners think....Good on her!

wow wow wow .......... I must say that reality is hard to digest and at some point you have to believe it wheather you want or not:) So lets agree with the reality we see. I know its hard but still you cant change the reality. Being a patriotic is on one side but accepting the facts are on other sides :)

Unfortunately I have come to the conclusion that most Polish employers just don't like foreigners.

Absolutely right I agree with you, even if i m working on contractual base but still I can feel the difference in certain situations :). Also now I think the proportion of Polish immigrant is getting less day by day as now there are different immigrants who are taking there place and are ready to work on lower prices. I think i near future most of Poles will come back home :)

There is strong feeling (in Poland) that Poles are the best possible workers. Some companies started to employ immigrants and I think it will take some time when other will follow them.

Agree with this, but sometimes you have to be flexible and have to think in rational way. No doubt Polish ppl are well educated, but still they shouldn't be such mean. They should remember that Britain's have given them the chance to work and to earn there livelihood so if somebody from another country wants to have such chance while living here then i suppose, this chance should be given to him without any " institutional racism ".

Well, I agree with your statement but this is not a right way to get rid of these kind of problems :) In sometime, in some way this question will be raised then what?

Do you think it is wise enough to say " if you are not happy just leave......" ??

Work / Why Poland employers are afraid of hiring any foreign nationals? [171]

I would like to ask for the opinion of polish people about the fact about polish employees?

Why in Poland, especially in Warsaw usually a polish employee is afraid of hiring any foreign national? Comparing to other fact that there are lot of Poles who are working in GB and Ireland, to such extent that now Polish is considered to be the second language over there. Then why in their home country(Poland) its opposite?

Do you think that Polish people just forgot that how they found jobs in other countries or do you think theres another reason behind this? Whenever I talked about this to my fellow colleagues, almost everybody give me this reason that due to huge unemployment, polish employees prefer to give job to polish people, but do you think its true?

As far as I know the official unemployment rate which is given by the govt authorities differs from whats seen by economist in real economic situation. Do you agree with this statement or do you have other opinions about it or you see it from different angle ?

I know that an unemployment rate in Poland is big high but still if some foreign national is well educated, have experience knows polish language (to such extent that he can communicate and express him/her self in business environment as well as in everyday dealings ) but still after having all these qualities he is not being hired by any body :)

Don't you think that its a kind of discrimination against foreigners?

Get CYFRA + and if the film is US/UK you can change it back to the original lecktor.

I agree with you but sometime even if you go back then the most funny thing is beside the option of changing the language to the original one it appears in polish hehehehhee.

i dont understand the reason behind this :) may be somebody of you know why is it so !!!!

Life / Polish dubbing in movies; why is it so that on polish television all the films are dubbed? [135]

I couldn't able to understand one thing that why is it so that on polish television all the films are dubbed in polish? There's another way of doing it as well for example as footnotes at the bottom of the film.

Every time i watch any movie on television, its really hard for me to understand, as both languages are being used simultaneously :(
are there any other persons like me who hate such thing?
