Study / Living in POZNAN in the Eskulap dormitory - big deal? [47]

Hello,
I'm not a big fan of Poznan and I have spent some years living there. I used to have a girlfriend who lived back then in Esculap and although she was a law student she shared room with medical students. All I want to tell you is ... medical students have shit loads to study ... I mean REALLY a LOT of memorizing etc. Poznan? Not green enough for me and too tidy but has some cheap airlines out of town and Berlin with lots of air trafic is few hours away so one can often get changes of scenery for no huge price.

Travel / Just back from Krakow [120]

This smile thing is a bit silly. Who goes around with a smile on their face all day long ?
It doesn't matter where you are. People don't smile without reason.

Californians do.

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

Zywiec as 1st choice but I'd take Tyskie, too.
The ones I'm not crazy about are Okocim or polish Haineken or Lech; the last one makes me puke!

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

FISZ,
I've tried Bosman. It's ok. I can get it where I live but still would stick to cold Zywiec.
I'm truely enjoying the first one on a really hot day like today - can take half glass at one time easy on day like we had today (it was 25 C - which is kind of hot for this time of a year)

Language / Polish or any Slavic language key to any other Slavic languages? [126]

Polish could be a key to other languages I think. I have never studied Russian or Ukrainian but I do watch Russian Tv occasionally and suprisingly to myself I figure I could understand a lot if stayed focused. The same must be with other Slavic languages. So If you know one it would be rather easy to undestand other ones. I would say just in days one could be getting some serious understandig :). Now SPEAKING other language is anothere level probably.

It could be really better for those still living with their parents in some crowded conditions.

UK, Ireland / Polish immigration in UK [491]

Going to UK with kids doesn't necessery mean they are to stay there forever. Thay are maybe - hadrd to believe? - good parents who go abroad to save some hard cash and plan to go back home and build themselves a palace (typical) lol Can you imagin parents leaving kids in Poland just to satisfy their greed? That would be socially unaceptable.

Law / Form of Polish Driving Licence [14]

Any driver can check his/her record at your local police station with some prove of identity. I'm not sure you can check someone else record.

There is a point system and the ultimate maximum is 24 points (20pts for younger drivers). For having no seatbelts on there is just 3 points penalty that goes onto your record. Police cars have access to database as well, if not they do make a call to check you out.

UK, Ireland / Polish immigration in UK [491]

I'm reading in Gazeta Wyborcza that 721 polish dogs and 146 cats imigrated to UK this year so far - legally, with passports and chips! - just sharing!

The growth is rapid - even in 2004. into Ireland did not come any Polish dog or cat, and to the United Kingdom only six cats and four dogs.

The owners bring their four-legged animals, because both they and their pets are missing each other. Kinga Ratkiewicz has been with her parents in Aberdeen from the two years. Her dachshund Capri was in Poland with her grandmother. - At first she did not want to eat or go outside. We would arrive home, she was offended by us - she says. In the end, two months ago, Capri also moved to Scotland.

Poles decide to take pets, even though the procedure is time-consuming and costs a thousand to several thousand zloty - depending on the size of the pet and the type of transport. Entering the islands the animal must have implanted a chip and a special passport. It must be vaccinated against rabies and have confirmation from the National Veterinary Institute, that the vaccine worked. Just before leaving it gets deworming preparations and against ticks.

Language / Polish/Ukrainian words similarities [209]

Ukrainian and Russian are closer.
Polish is closer to Russian but some people may argue here I think. In Ukrainian quite many words are identical with polish ones....
To me Russian is more understandable then Ukrainian but that again maybe due to me having rather more exposure to Russian language.

Off-Topic / An English Version of Gadu-Gadu? [105]

To find him you'd need his GG number or his nickname or his real name. You could also have all GG members listed acording to their location I think. OR ...you may spam everybody throughout GG network with your message...just send over 2.5 million messages.
