Love / African girl from USA dating a polish guy needs advice [38]

On a flight to Poland, I saw a Polish guy with a black wife. While living in Las Vegas, I met a Polish guy who was married to a black woman.

"most of the africans(blacks) hate whites(polish)” sounds like a racist statement.

African girl go for it. You will encounter resentment. It will come from people who are limited. :)

Love / Spanish guy trying to get a Polish girl - her parents prefer guys form Poland? [19]

Ok WarLord.

This is what you do. Because you are Spanish, and you want your girlfriend’s Polish parents to like you.

1. Buy your girlfriend an engagement ring, spend at least $2000, so her parents will know that you have money, and Poles like round figures.
2. Set a wedding date.
3. Buy your future mother-in-law a bouquet of roses.
4. Buy your future father-in-law nice horse, Polish men like horses.
5. Put on your best 3-piece suit.
6. Arrive at your girlfriend’s parent’s house on the horse, dressed in a nice suit, with the engagement ring and the bouquet of roses, face your girlfriend’s parents and announce your intentions to them.

7. Good luck. : P

May the force be with you.

Genealogy / Last name Sapeta [44]

I know that in 15th or 16th (I think 16th) century,to escape persecution, many Jews came to Poland from Portugal and Spain . Therefore, it is possible that your ancestors came from Portugal and assimilated into Polish society. I do not what percentage of Polish Catholics have Jews roots, but I do know that some had converted and assimilated.

Life / Do Polish People steal a lot? [330]

An article in the Polish Constitution states that it is OK to steal your co-worker’s lunch. In my place of employment, someone stole my co-worker’s lunch.

I live in US. I am the only Pole in the office where I work. I know that I did not take it.
:)

P.S.

Patrycja, your mom looks cute. :)

Love / What to wear when trying to pick up girls in Poland? [58]

Make a sign saying “looking to pickup girls, or want to pick up girls.” Of course, the sign has to be in Polish.
Go and stand in front of a church on Sunday. The other options are: go to an open
market or city’s center and work around with the sign.
Good luck. May the force be with you.

Yes Beckski. "In that particular order." It has worked for me well. I think that we should get together. We have a lot in common. :)

News / German legal discrimination against Polish speakers [209]

I have no problem with the German government requiring foreigners to speak German in public when conducting business, public affairs, etc. I wish that the State of Arizona (where I live) and/or US government would implement similar laws. I am f… tired hearing Spanish and listing to the people who can’t speak English; who expect everyone else to accommodate them in Spanish, many of them illegals. Every time I call my bank, I hear recorded messages in English and Spanish. When I receive my voting ballet, it is in English and Spanish, and on and on and on. This issue has been written about in newspapers and raised by many Arizona residents. I understand how the Germans feel. When I immigrated to US, I did not expect everyone in US to accommodate me in Polish. When in Germany, do what the Germans do.

USA, Canada / CULTURE SHOCK! (of my Polish finance who visited the US) [210]

krysia
In Polish grocery stores you have to bag your own groceries, in the US they ask "paper or plastic". Another shocking experience!!!!

I visited Berlin during the last summer; there, people bag their groceries too.

Thanks Krysia

USA, Canada / CULTURE SHOCK! (of my Polish finance who visited the US) [210]

My Polish fiance just came to the US. First time ever. Talking about Culture Shock!

Krysia,

Where did you bagged your fiance? Was it in the fields, in a small village?

I visited Poland last year and was surprised by the progress.

Poland is a big bad backwater where crime is rife, no one is friendly and there is no hope, only vodka.

Hueg,
Poles will usually try to accommodate foreigners, and will respond and interact with foreigners on their level. When interacting with a “backwater” person, Poles will act like "backwater" people.

Work / Is it normal for companies/schools in Poland to be rude? [116]

Hi. I gained my Cambridge CELTA in Poland recently, with a distinction grade.

We are impressed with your Cambridge CELTA with a distinction.
Being rude is Poland's national character, a favorite pastime. Be rude back and you will fit in.

Travel / Rented car from Germany to Poland [15]

Consider taking a train from Germany to Poland and renting a car in Poland. This is the most parsimonious option.

Travel / Indian or Mexican food in Warsaw. [60]

Hi,I will be in warsaw for 3 weeks any good places to eat Indian or Mexican food???fairly decent not expensive?

Consider enjoying Polish local food. Live dangerously, :). Last year, I visited my hometown in Poland. I was disappointed and pissed off. I found many restaurants serving rotisserie chicken, pizza, shishka-bab, etc. and only one restaurant serving Polish food. The restaurant is located near the train station. Unbelievable! In the US, I can have tacos, pizza, etc. anytime and anywhere. But where I live, there are no Polish restaurants.

Life / Doctors taking bribes in Poland [76]

I always bribe doctors, as far as im concerned its a neccesity in Poland, not so much for myself as im English.....they do try harder for foreigners - well Western foreingers atleast. But for Polish family members i alwasy bribe and they ALWAYS accept.

Dumb foreign f… like you should discourage such practice and not perpetuate it.

Why are you so proud of your English ways?
