Off-Topic / WB's body building and general fitness thread [97]

Merged: The WB/Yosemite body building, keep fit thread

Couple of recent images of me, myself and I. On the Polish related front i have noticed loads more Poles in the gym lately, even the ladies are starting to frequent the local gyms now.

Its not something i will be doing in 5 years time...i don't think anyway. Its a bucket list thing, an achievement I've wanted my entire life. Once I'm done with building i'll go with something more sensible for my age, more cardio, the thinner leaner, athletic look and feel. I'm feeling the toll on my joints already. I certainly don't enjoy squatting over 120kg or benching 130 kg that much anymore, i generally lift lighter than my max lifts. Hey as long as i enjoy it i'll keep going. There is something very satisfying about walking into a gym of hundreds of people and having the best physique in the whole place.

UK, Ireland / Poles 'failing to integrate in the UK'? [58]

Merged: Poles integrating in the UK

Must admit the Polish immigration to the UK really doesn't seem to be that much of a problem any more. I see them and hear them all the time in more and more everyday places. At the gym, mums and dads at the school drop offs and pick ups, in the supermarkets. Its almost a complete normality in my area. For the most part they are well accepted. The more ignorant people tend to sneer and look funny at them but i don't have problem at all. I really enjoy conversing with them, having a little chat about Poland, the food the culture etc.. I have made quite a few Polish friends to be honest. I might even go as far as to say I'm more comfortable around Poles than i am Brits. They're always surprised when i tell them i lived in Poland for almost 6 years. First question they ask is "what did you do"?

If the Germans have to accomodate 1.5 million arrivals a year as it looks now, the country will collapse at some point in time.

1.5 million a year of cheap labour, I'm sure zee Germans can think of ways to further promote their powerhouse economy and remain as one of worlds top exporters with that kind of human resource. At the end of the day theyre not exactly forced to take that number, they could quite simply say no.

Mate I'm not exactly fat or unhealthy, i do train very regularly and do a decent amount of cardio, my work is also fairly active. Most older top body builders are still gong strong today with all the supplements and stuff they abuse their bodies with. I'll be OK. Ive been meaning to get back into boxing for a while, i'd really like to have a few white collar (over 40) fights to be honest. Thats something i'll be looking at in the future. To be proper boxing fit is a great feeling indeed.

Travel / Bialystok or... some other place in Poland. [8]

Everything about that place felt like home. I had never experienced snow or such friendly people before and I find myself looking forward to going back for another holiday.

Boom thats all you need right there. When i feel like that about a place and am in a position to make the move thats where i go. I like winters, i don't mind the cold at all. Sometimes you just feel a place, and if it feels right go for it. That said winter maybe a novelty for you coming from Australia, they can grind a person down once you're past the honey moon period. I know many people who go into a kind of depression when the snow falls and the -10's become a common reality day in day out for weeks on end. Helps to be near a mountain if you like winter sports as i was/did when i lived there. I mean your options for days out are surely limited when its so cold.

News / Polish people's criticism of European Union [104]

Actually, they can't because they are - just like everybody else - bound to international law

International law! who makes the laws? Merkel and the EU can change this if they so wish. It all comes down to fair deals at the end of the day, if millions are flocking to Germany and not many other countries logic dictates that this law can be adjusted.

If the refugees would be engineers, doctors and stuff, then yes, but from what I've heard the vast majority are uneducated folks that saw camel herding as a career path.

Manual labour doesn't require a degree, theres (still at least) millions of jobs for manual labour. The UK managed to put 1,500,000 million poles to work in uneducated, crappy manual labour jobs I'm sure the Germans can do the same and pay them less under some kind of asylum seeker minimum wage.

Lets not be under any illusions here, Germany would not be so welcoming to these immigrants if they weren't benefiting in a financial sense. Germany were recently advertising free engineering degree courses in the UK, free education and guaranteed work placement for three years or something like that, and after that the workers could return to the UK or stay in Germany. They need the labour.

No. There's no reason Poland should accept thousands of people who are prone to regard most Polish traditions as immoral.

Thats not what i said or implied at all. Refugees will not be that quick to flock to Poland, after all Poland has a huge employment problem as it is.....Germany on the other hand.

News / Polish people's criticism of European Union [104]

Right-wing parties are on the rise.

ahh thats just media fuelled fear mongering. If the UK featured that with the mass Polish exodus to the UK think what might've happened here. Governments control media don't forget that.

the country was barely able to integrate 3 million Turks over the past 50 years.

Care to post up some credible links to these statements? 3 million turks over 50 years, so 60,000 a year...thats nothing. and 1.5 million per year from the middle east! Were only seeing this current number based on the war in Syria, who knows how that will play out. The war could end next week. I think you're massively over dramatising.

Absolutely, and it will affect Poland directly because the country's economy will tank once Germany is in deep doodoo.

Calm down mate. Do you honestly think that the people who really know aren't at least three steps ahead of you?

What I said: well educated specialists are needed, not illiterate people from some hellhole in Syria, Afghanistan or Eritrea.

and what i said was, they were looking to EDUCATE Brits for free, so why not EDUCATE above mentioned hellhole (your words) humans for less money?

Exactly. So in result Poles and others work their butts off for 300-500 EUR a month.

Thats capitalism Grzeg, welcome to the party, it aint gonna stop mate. Not till theres a revolution anyway....I came to that realisation a while ago. Profit, profit, profit.

Companies do business for one reason only: profit. If you think that's bad, you're living in the wrong system. ;)

We are living within the wrong social system. By a long shot.

That's not capitalism, that's crime/corruption/socialism/colonialism.

Don't take my word for it, look it up.

I'll provide a brief overview of the definitions though.

Capitalism: means of production in the hands of private corporations
Socialism: means of production owned by the people, shared equally
Communism: means of production organised by the government

So when you commented Poles working their butts off for 300-500 EUR / month and the profits being sent away to far away countries, which ism is that more associated with? Crony capitalism may go some way to describing what you're trying to say, but its still based on private ownership of the means of production.

News / POLISH CHILD ABUSING A CAT.. [74]

Although i believe nurture plays a large part in shaping people i think many are just born bad, the best upbringing in the world wont change the outcome.

Interesting comment i wrote back in 2010, I've completely changed my mind on that since. Its nurture virtually all the way.

Off-Topic / Some November afternoon in Warsaw... Poland Solidarity with France [44]

the media is absolutely nailing this one. Great job.

Lets not talk about the real reasons of how ISIS exist at all, ohh no, that would be bad for business. People die by the thousand everyday from structural violence, but lets not talk about that either. Lets not talk about the (capitalsim casued) Indonesian fires pumping out pollution levels equivalent to Germanys total annual Co2 emmisions within days. Terrorism is a great seller.

Ive been away for a few days so missed all this. Frankly im utterly devestated by Ronda Rousey being so brutally knocked out by Holly Holm yesterday. That really p1ssed me off.

Holm fought at a distance and commanded the fight right from the start, her counter punches and kicks were very effective. Ronda looked beat within about 3 minutes i would say. Holm fought an excellent fight and you could see that she definitely did her home work and stuck to her game plan. Rondas wins almost exclusively come from floor work, mainly the arm lock, she couldnt get close to Holm, Holm being an already accomplished boxer and martial artist utilised her strong points to win. Ronda was also well out of shape, she needed to stop chasing and let Holm come at her.

I remember thinking i wonder what would happen if somebody could keep Ronda at a distance, and thats what we saw here. I might even go as far as to say she was psyched out by Holm at the wigh in.

One does not need to have a personal relationship with France to be shocked and horrified by what happened

Absolutely, effective media campaigns can have people rioting in the streets over pretty much anything they want.

Islam is causing this and not psychopaths using religion to their own twisted, psychotic purposes?

Thats what the media is brainwashing you to believe, truth is that religious extremism has always and still exits in most religions. Some more than others.

It's a bit as if I were saying that atheism was causing all the carnage done by bolsheviks, stalinists, maoists, etc

Not really those were resource wars, like most wars are.

I wouldn't have them otherwise.

You would, and they would probably be more accurate.

Didnt I read somewhere that you said you hadn't been here in ages, and just popped in to share condolencies over the recent terrorist attack? If thats the case how did you know im WB?

Ah, wait a minute, so are you saying that ideological wars weren't really about ideologies, but about resources?

Im saying what i said: most wars about resources........in the end.

my dad (Who went through wwII) once said to me when I was very young, that people would forget the errors of the past and make the same mistakes again, I didn't understand what he meant then, but I do now.

Please expand on that. Terrorists are basically fighting wars the only way they can be effective...through terrorism.

That's a point I was trying to make for years on this forum - people are pretty much the same everywhere and with the right circumstances they turn into animals/monsters/you name it.

If one person has the ability to strap a bomb to himself and detonate then we all do: given the appropriate envoironmental conditioning. If i could teach the wolrd one thing it would be this.

Well, Communism is a religion too, is it not?

No, its a social system. Capitalism would be closer to religion for many, especially considering how so many worship money.

The world is learning. We havent had another global war atleast. Terrorism is not war in the traditional sense.

Problem is no one has the balls to do anything nowadays (They might offend someone)

The solutions are out there, the technology is out there right now. Problem is its not very profitable. There are plenty of people who know exactly what the solutions are, but the media does not give them the air time. This is the real war....the evolution of our species away from a monetary based, profit driven social system...... and its one that effects every sinlge one of us in the deepest sense imaginable. Its the reason ISIS exist if you really want to go back far enough.

Feelings - more accurate? What do you mean?

The media tells you what to think, what to say and how to feel.

he even set out his own holy book (sound familiar), did anyone do anything when he began annexing chunks of Europe to build is Reich (Read caliphate), did anyone do anything until he attacked Poland (Read France)

If you put it like that all governments sieze power (and maintain it) through terrorist lines. I dont need to read any books im quite familiar with rise and fall of the Third Reich.

Life / HIV/AIDS growing in Poland - more fear of pregnancy than STDs [82]

maybe someone will answer this for us.

I'll have a crack, maybe because being HIV positive for many is case of environmental exposure as opposed to ignorance. Drug addiction is also an enviromental specific. The EU way of life is pro freedom and pro empathetic. Imagine if you were unlucky enough to be born in such a harsh environment wanting to better your life by moving abroad but couldnt as a result of common, ignorant, monetary based public opnion.

Being a drug addict is not the norm.

That depends on your definition of drug addict, ALL smokers are drug addicts, ALL people who regularly use drugs illegal or otherwise are by definition drug addicts.

Normal by your definition is what the media tells you, what is really normal?

News / Don't let Poland become like my country, France. [630]

It is plainly sad how the french just handed over the keys of their country to the Muslims.

whats painfully sad is how easily you are manipulated by media and plain ignorance.
