Law / Taxation system in Poland? My company is cutting 38%!? [25]

Hello folks

I am new here in Poland and working for a Polish institution. i have no idea about taxation system in Poland. My company is cutting ~38% percent on salary which i think is bit high. When i ask, they are not showing my tax breakdown in detail and saying that its because of tax+social security ( pension)+ medical insurance. I am not an EU citizen therefore i want to opt out from social security as i will be living here for only 3 yrs. Is that possible ? could any of you elaborate on taxation breakdown ? any help would be highly appreciated !

thanks

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

if 2000 PLN is gross salery then your ~40% will go into tax (18%) and zus. Even if it is net salary its too low in my opinion. decent 1 room apartment will cost you (~800-1000 PLN), food per month if you eat cheaply (~400 PLN). There are other expenses to take care of. So basically it would be very very tight if you spend wisely, and you will save none.

ZUS is social security system in poland.

it comprises of:
pension: 9,76%
other pension : 1,50%
sickenes insurance:2,45%
health insurance:9,00%

So out of whatever I earn 40% will never be seen????

Yes it will just vaporise.

Not as much as this. I used to earn this a while ago and was taking home 1500, so at this earning level it's about 25 % . Half of ZUS is covered by company, and there is also small tax free amount, but this is way too little to live normal life in Krakow. Even 2000 nett is too little.

What i wrote was only employee contributions towards ZUS.

No you do not. It is perfectly possible to legally not pay ZUS.

I thought its mandotory ! once i told i want to opt out but my employer said its not possible. Are u sure of that ?

Law / Recovering amount paid to ZUS after leaving POLAND [9]

Dear PF members,

I am an asian working in poland for full time and paying monthly mandatory ZUS. I was wondering if there is a way to recover the money that i paid to ZUS for old pensions once i leave poland. The money is supposed to benefit me when i get old, but if i wont be living in poland, how the stuffs work? I have stayed in germany before and there, the pensions would be returned after two years of leaving the country. Does poland also has similar rules ? Does anyone has any information about it ?

Any info, much appreciated.

I am trying to figure out if PL has similar rules ! Otherwise who stays here for short terms is pouring our hard earn money in deep blackhole without benefitting anything at all !

Life / Is 10500 monthly is enough for a family to live in Warsaw Poland [136]

Haters gonna hate no matter where you go. I live in warsaw and i speak next to nothing, polish. if you have to go to some local offices then you might have some difficulty in communication, besides that i assure you its not a problem. Polish people always tend to start with " i speak very little english" when you approach them but most of the young ones speak decent english.

Regarding money, 10500 Pln will be more than enough for you to have decent life. If you are not a party freak and cook your own food majority of times, i think you can even save half of your 10500 Pln.
