Most Germans don't give rat’s as$ what Polish people think. Why? Germans work hard, get paid well and feel secure about their future. In the US lives about 300 million of people and I guarantee you that 99% of the population doesn’t know/care “when or how Berlin wall collapsed. It’s a jeopardy question at best.

My own sister doesn’t have a clue where our country is. When I talked to her she was convinced that Poland is somewhere in the US. (She was 10 at that time) anyway, this is a silly example of how important this is to rest of the people here and much more people in India or China etc.

Oh, same goes with Germany. No one cares where it is either. Same principle.

Same here, Great-grandpa was in Prussian army, grandpa in Wehrmacht, dad got a German passport, Why? Don’t know. He never visited Germany in his live.

My family is very "German" by Polish standards.

Who cares what he wants? He's a Polak cause he thinks like one. Just like me.

Somewhat, she is 18 now. Studding to to be a physical therapist. I've concluded Geography is not her forte.

I suspect if they would hire more than 10 Englishman there they would have to close the plant. No one would stand for the work conditions there except foreigners who don't know how to speak the native language. Are you blaming those stupid Polish people who work there for this? How can you allow for a business like that flourish in the civilized society that you proclaimed to represent?

The double standard is expecting others to speak a foreign language in their own country and getting upset when the same thing happens in reverse closer to home.

Good news for everyone upset about Polish ppl taking jobs. There are similar plants in Germany, which accept English speaking workers with open hands. They pay better too. Average person lasts there a week.

Have few questions.

Here is the problem; if you come here illegally you're going to be exploited. You may have to work the worst and the least paying jobs. If you're cool with that come on over. If you're tough and street smart, you may make it. Something tells me though, if you're asking this question here, you probably won't make it.

I'm New to PF. So far I really like it. :)

I visited Poland after 12 years, a few years ago. At the airport in Frankfurt, I’ve noticed some Polish speaking family near the gate to Pyrzowice. I felt like chatting so I approached them and greeted them as politely as I could. They were trying to assure me in broken English that none of them speaks Polish.

After few more encounters like this I've realized it's very common.

In your opinion what is the base for behavior like this?

I’m not afraid to be honest. I’m a “secure” Polish person. Guys, you're missing the point. I'm Polish myself. I do speak the language. I know for a fact that this is occurring I just wanted to know what other intelligent people have to say about it.

"Znasz j. polski?: yes, somewhat" suggest that you rather learn Polish language, or in the process of learning than that you are a native Polish speaker. So, Havok - why DO YOU are afraid to clearly admit that you are a Polish? Heh?

Honestly, my family jokes with me a lot because i have an accent in my Polish. Also i can't spell well in Polish. I developed a complex. I just don't want anyone to call me out and test me.

my 2 cents

- People here are open-minded towards other cultures or seem to be more in acceptance of the fact.

- In the US I don't feel obligated to follow uncompromising guidelines of Polish society i.e. finish school on time, get a respectful job that everyone approves of, earn the respect of your neighbors and start a family ASAP. I got this impression while talking with my peers from PL.

- Independence. Many of my friends live with parents or in-laws. Because of this they’re are heavily influenced by mom and dad and inadvertently being forced to consult on all major decisions. I would rather live in a cardboard box or under a bridge than in the same house with my parents, wife and kids.

-Wider scope of interests. People do here some whacky stuff. For instance, I lived/worked in 5 different states, joined the Navy for 4 years, finished college and in the meantime I travelled to at least 15 different countries. Almost died on a few occasions… All my peers from PL wanna know is what kind of car I drive and how much does it cost.

I love Polish zurek.

Here is my two cents...

Polish head of state plane cashed in middle of nowhere, bumblefak despite all warnings not to land there.

Let me ask you two questions my Polish bros.

1) Why would the majority of Polish government fly on the same old soviet trijet plane? Are you trying to save on gasoline?

2) Why would anyone attempt to land a jet bigger than Boeing 727 at the airport size of an aircraft carrier on a foggy day?

I've read a few forums here with bunch of conspiracy theories and no one seems to point out the obvious.

I've read several articles on the net describing this tragedy. Most of those reports are written by lunatics, blaming everything else but the obvious.

Seriously, I don't know if I should cry, laugh or be embarrassed.

Personally, I think the whole thing is pretty moronic and I’m embarrassed to mention it to anyone else here (I’m Polish). Somehow I was hoping there is more to it.

I'm truly sorry for what happened but I whish people would wake up back there and realize that bunch of morons is/was running their country. I can't help but notice that this misfortune was truly self-inflicted. No conspiracy theory is going to cover it up.

To be honest most of the people here in the US haven't noticed a thing. Nada, no one cares. That tells me that you must be Polish somehow. You're Polish or you hang around with bunch of Polish people on daily basis. Possibly a native speaker.

Second, you're just angrily rambling about the genocide of Katyn. I get it but this is not the reason why your president recently died a tragic death. Do not blame Russians for stupidity of your own government.

Polish leaders killed themselves in very silly accident and all in one day.

No one in the whole wide world loads up a plane full of high ranking officials and then tries to land it at the airport that is clearly not suited for that purpose.
