Travel / Getting from Krakow to Warsaw [99]

I would take a train but if you really are cheap take a bus from the main station in Krakow or hitch hike, I have. For about 20 GBP you can take the fast train. IMO that is cheap. How much does a train from London to manchester cost? Also in some cases if they do not fill the train 10 minutes before you can buy a ticket for 10 pln. But you will be lost if you do not speak Polish.

Work / What jobs pay 10,000 zlotych per month? and Where can i find one? :o) [101]

Maluch, if you speak Polish and like two more languages have a masters or phd and work hard for 20 years and really smart, then you will get 10k pln a month. Most Poles I know in the city (Krakow, for example) who are very smart and work for a good company and speak English and French and work nights and weekends make 3k. Why would someone pay you 10k? What skills can you bring to the table that would justify that? Where can you add value or innovate to be worth that? I am not being rude, its just your comment tells you you have no real world life experience. And I want to determine where you would fit best in the work force.

Your right! If you are an expert on say EU GAAP Accounting law and Sarbanes Oxley (2002) compliance, then you can speak English in Poland at work. But if you are just a guy looking for a job, you need Polish. Are you a Sarbanes Oxley (sox) expert or something?

Love / Are 98% of young Polish girls emotionally unstable and mood changing? [191]

This post does not seem worthy to comment on, but here goes
-> They are normal and stable to me. Maybe this is the answer
-> You are chasing young girls in clubs. Further, any guy that has kisses 150 girls in a short time seems pretty unstable. Girls are not toys for your delight. Treat people with respect and maybe someday you will get some in return.

Sorry I miss read your post. I thought 150 in 4 months.

I am a foreigner and have lived in Poland for 5 years.

Try not meeting girls in clubs and not ones that are materialistic or even ones with cell phones. I do not have a mobile phone. Ones that care about spiritual things or have noble ideals. If this is your inclination.

Life / The Poles - do they "bumble" through life? [29]

Poles do not bumble at all. I am Polish and everyone in my family is at the top of their field in the USA. My brother was on the top of Deutsche bank and Credit Lyonnaise, for example. My father ran one of the top ten largest companies in the USA. I run my own company. We are all Polish. I think the person who thinks Poles bumble is umm a bumbler, maybe a racist.

Language / Is rosetta stone any good for learning Polish? [51]

It does not work for Polish because does not deal with Polish word changes properly. Its eye candy for Americans that have lots of cash to shell out and want a magic solution. That is my personal experience.

News / New Polish gambling law - outlawing gambling except in casinos [34]

The Polish Government just passed a law that will outlaw gambling except in casinos. I live in Poland and I see now, on almost every corner, neon flashing signs and ads for gambling machines inside the establishment under the sign.

These are not casinos, just every little bar has installed these gambling machines and poor people are sitting at them putting their weeks earnings in them.

The law will also limit internet gambling. Many people think it is just about internet gambling, but its the slot machines that are everywhere also.

The government will also tax normal casinos and the money will be directly applied to physical education and culture for Polish schools.

Seeing that these 'one armed bandits' are on every corner in the town I live, I think the limit will be welcomed by many people.

News / New Polish gambling law - outlawing gambling except in casinos [34]

Well the truth is internet gambling will be hard to limit, internet anything is hard to limit. Internet is a different type of user and I personally do not have to look at it. If I do not want to. If some fool wants to spend money on online gambling, whatever I guess.

For me the real problem is I live in part of the old town in Krakow and I see these neon signs flashing for the latest 77777 club and people putting their earnings for the week into them. It makes parts of Krakow look very sleezy. I will be happy to see them go. But the truth is I am a skeptic, I think they will find a way to gt around the law.

It will be signed by the President in a few weeks.

News / New Polish gambling law - outlawing gambling except in casinos [34]

If you are like spending your money at a 'One arm bandit", great. But remember, you can play on something like pogo.com for free and also win money and have 100 hours of entertainment for free.

That being said, I agree with the above comment that is it is to launder money. I do see many of them empty. In fact, one time I poke my head in one and the people where looking at me like what am I doing there.

Ok so here is another problem with them. They crowd out other shops. Let me explain, in my area I would say that there are about fifty 7777 neon type clubs. I have not counted but lets say 50 in short walking distance from me. Fifty places that are paying rent. If I want to open a small shop, and I have thought of doing it, that means the rent for me to rent a small shop it is more expensive as the demand for space is up. Therefore it crowds out real investment. It is called the crowding out effect.

But the bottom line it is a very sleezy low form of development for Poland.

News / Crucifixes to stay in Polish schools [364]

Ronald Regan said it best. Government should support Freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.
The crosses should stay in hospitals and schools.

News / Crucifixes to stay in Polish schools [364]

Poland has a unique culture, why do we have to make the world one political correct post modern society. Crosses should stay. I hope they do and this, with many other countless positive things make Poland unique.
