Work / Salary expectations in Poland [373]

lol some of the posts here are hillarious. Ive just read a Polish guy that wrote 6719PLN after tax every month is 'peanuts' !!! What a clown. My girlfriend is Polish and lives in krakow which is pretty expensive compared to other areas in Poland. Ive lived in krakow for a while and plan on returning again soon teaching. The average salary in poland is about 2000PLN a month and people seem to get by. I have met people working in village shops working for 1300PLN a month (minimum salary is about 1,126 PLN) but I would imagine living on that would be very tight. For someone to receive 6719 PLN a month would be considered a good salary and I would imagine it would be on a par with what a dentist for example might expect. Some of the posts here regarding salaries are pretty funny, so take most of them with a pinch of salt

UK, Ireland / Hand washing at public toilets in the UK [75]

Do British people not wash their hands?

Gosh I wouldnt wash my hands in a public toilet anywhere if you paid me to, its very dangerous, any dr will tell you that :| Have you any idea how many germs and how unhealthy public toilet taps are ? I may sound like I have a case of OCD but I dont, its just logical and what I have always been told. I just carry sanitary wipes with me. By the way, you do know that when you then dry your hands under the dryer that you are blowing recycled air and bacteria from other peoples poo etc onto your hands again . . its not filtered :| So trust me, its safer to do what you have to do, and not wash or dry your hands in a public toilet. Just use those nice smelling wipes you can buy, easy !

Are you related to Howard Hughes?

Not at all, most of my friends, family and almost everyone I know are the same. You would have to be pretty dumb to wash or dry your hands in a public toilet. Basic common sense and hygeine. . . . unless your the type that washes your ass with your hands ? I suspect you are so in that case, go for it :)

I`m suprised you leave your house at all, The germs are coming for you!...Hahahaha

Your right, its so good to meet intelligent people like you on forums Sledz :) The next time you are in a public toilet put your dumb head under the dryer and deeply inhale the bacteria from other peoples poo and sh*t ok ? That way you can excuse yourself and why you talk so much idiotic sh*t ;)

um 'hahahahaha'

This is a thread about handwashing not insulting people.

This is a thread about handwashing not insulting people.

Good point, I was'nt insuting the chap though :) Ok, well maybe I shouldnt have said 'dumb head'

"I`m not the the freak germophob on here now am I..??"

Hm, ok so by your measurement I am a freak because I have a shi* and a pis*, and wipe my hands with a sanitary wipe (precious and a luxury in your world I guess) But you arent a freak because you then want to inhale my shi* and pis* after me lol ok little man

"So what do you do if you ever go out in public and dont have your precious sanitary napkins???"

I rarely take a dump in a public toilet, and if i do its usually only in airports. I think I mentioned using them when Im in a public toilet, not going out in public ;) How old are you by the way ?

A germophob lol ? nah, i would gladly **** all over you and not wipe my hands :D...although you would probably enjoy that :|

I figured you as a queer and I was right again:)

[quote=sledz]
You thought of it, you sick pervert

I pis* against walls also occassionaly, so Im more or less comparing you to concrete. lol Ive just seen from your profile that you are American and you posted a thread titled "Do Polish People Steal More" ..... need I say more, what a toss**

"First of all I dont shi and piz on my hands, maybe someday you will be able to
accomplish this with practice?"

You talk like somebody that does, but then again I suspect you have the brain of a bluebottle fly . . they eat their own shi* also.

"OK Big Man,I dont blame you for not wanting to be in a English toilet
but to go to such extremes and to be so defensive is hysterical..lol"

Im bigger than you ;) I dont use any public toilets, why do you mention english toilets ? Not that I avoid public toilets, but I generally shi* before I leave the house if I have to. Unless Im in a pub and Im pis*ed (no pun intended) then I wash my hands and use the dryer just like dopes like you do. Im not being defensive, you just seem to be simple

Oh and nope, very hetrosexual with a beautiful polish gf. Although if you have a thing about gay people, and think me pi**ing on you is gay, perhaps you know more about it than I. I was merely demonstrating how low my oppinion of you is.

and you wonder why it smells like S*** over there it because of slobs like you
defecating all over the place. Didnt your parents teach you any manners?

Smells like shi* where, In Poland ?

English lesson : I think you will find that defecating = shi**ing, pis*ing = urinating. I said I urinated occassionaly against walls, that would be 'urinating' and its usually very late at night when inebriated. Your parents obviously didnt invest much in your education judging by your grasp of the english language. Then again they also taught you that putting your head under public hand dryers and inhaling other peoples shi* and pis* was cool. They say the apple doesnt fall far from the tree, thats what you get with parents that conceive in public toilets I guess !

and how old are you...12 ??

I suspect a lot older than you. then again your i.q doesnt seem to surpass double digits so Im going to go for you being a 17 / 18 yr old kid.

I was making a joke and you are the one that felt the need to attack
thats the first sign of a simple mind...you win:)

You did'nt seem funny. Although you did laugh hysterically at yourself, so that is usually the first sign of a simple mind, and also someone very insecure I might add ;)

A sink in a man's toilet on a construction site in Britain serves only as a decoration.

Ive seen the same with Polish construction workers on sites working in Ireland, on many occassions. Ive also observed the same on numerous occassions in Poland, did'nt shock me. I dont wash my hands or dry them in public loos because its probably the worst thing you can do. Not only are the taps full of all sorts of germs, but the dryer blows out unflltered air full of pis* and shi* bacteria lol

No, an immune system ? . . . whats that :) .....Ill take my chances and allow my immune system to strengthen and defend itself naturally against everyday bacteria etc . . . Only in toilets will I continue to refrain from using the hand dryer to blow other peoples sh*t over my hands, or rub it from the taps all over my hands which defeats the purpose of washing my hands in the first place ;)

Work / Salary expectations in Poland [373]

In the hospital in my town ( 40 thousand people ) they get 700 zł.

Absolute nonsense. My girlfriends friend is a doctor practising on one of the larger hospitals in Krakow, he gets nowhere near 700 zl for one 'simple nights duty' You are delusional. Total crap !! He is even considering moving to Ireland as his salary is so bad.

An average salary in Poland is nowadays ( data for August 2008) 3165 zł which equals 928 € or 1286 $ monthly.

Nonsense, the majority of Poles dont earn anyhting close to that amount. It is this insecurity that some Poles exhibit and the fear of being considered 'poor' which is so silly, and frustrating for foreigners wishing to get an accurate desription of salaries and living expenses etc in Poland.

Love / Are 98% of young Polish girls emotionally unstable and mood changing? [191]

i am a GENTLEMAN who is not afraid to ask for advice and other people's opinion when he feels there is something more to learn

Your questions are ridiculous, you seem ridiculous, if you ask a stupid questions expect a stupid answer. If someone like you came anywhere near any Polish (or Irish) girl I know, they would either fall around laughing at you, or throw their cup of tea over you (assuming they dont drink alcohol in clubs)

What is hillarious is that you keep count of how many you kiss, and even more hillarious that although you seem to think your Gods gift to women, you cant get a shag :D You come across as an AliG type.

To be honest I think your just one of the regulars taking the piss and its a wind up.

If its not a wind up, I wish you luck in life and with the ladies.....I think you will need it lol

Life / Reasons for moving to Poland [291]

Well I am now moing back to Poland, for the reason that I loved it the first time, but wages weren't enough to support me. This time though, a lovely PF member has sorted some stuff out for me so I will be back!

Work / Cost of Living, Average Salaries and Job sites in Poland [263]

Regardless, 5000 is still a great salary in Poland....bastard :D

Edit : I couldnt believe what most state teachers in Poland get until my gfs friend told me recently. Compared to teachers in Ireland its awful, and Irish teachers are still complaining regardless of them being the best paid in Europe. Much wants more

Indeed, it had to burst and for the sake of future generations Im glad it did . . although they will be paying a heavy price for our greed and idiocity.

Its still a good salary relatively speaking, certainly more than what I earn. Although I am hoping to rent out an appartment back in Ireland soon which should see me a lot more comfortable....well at least until the currency rate changes for the worst :)

Yeah, I always remember the teachers complaining but I think teachers, education is probably the most important asset

Very true, couldnt agree more but if they are very well paid for their contribution to society . . that should suffice.

I see that as a natural progression, give a poor people a load of money and it goes straight to their heads.
I hope it is a learning curve.
Irish people in Ireland had been very poor for the past 800 years, so I think it is understandable.

We were the poorest of the poor for many centuries, then suddenly we are rich for 10 years. Throwing all that money our way was like throwing altar boys at an Irish bishop. It will be a very painful learning curve, but one that may protect our children and grand children from living on debt and credit. Im hopeful we will return to the days when if we wanted something we worked hard and saved for it . . . the days of easy credit are well dead, everywhere. The Poles are similar to us in many ways, and I see that materialisim and credit culture growing there more and more. Ireland part 2

Work / Cost of Living, Average Salaries and Job sites in Poland [263]

From my experience of Poland thats about right Qw. Like every country there are those lucky to earn a lot more than the average but they are in the minority. Judging by the circles I move in, the salaries range from minimum (A friend who works in a supermarket) to a lawyer in Krakow earning close to 5000. Of course its possible to find those who earn more but as I said they would be in the minority and certianly not an accurate reflection of salaries in Poland. Thank you for the post Qw, very accurate and informative for anyone wishing to move to Poland.

By the ay, when you say 'bad love' do you mean prostitutes ? Those prices would seem excessive but then again I wouldnt know lol

News / What's the stupidest question asked about Poland? [414]

'Is Poland in Europe?'

That seems a reasonable question for someone foreign to enquire. Afterall Poland only entered the EU 5 years ago, although listening to some here one would think Poland was one of its founders.

but you have microwaves over there?

Whats so stupid about that ? While the rest of the world had mocrowaves years ago, Poland didnt and a lot of consumer products were only made available years after communisim fell. Most countries could afford to buy microwaves a decade before you guys could.

Which language you speak in Poland,

Not sure why that seems dumb either. Afterall before you joined the EU 5 yrs ago you werent allowed to travel so easily and thus very few European people even met a Polish person nevermind heard what dialect they used. There are no notable Polish people in the international media, none in entertainment etc and Polish culture etc wasnt known so its to be expected that a lot of the world knew nothing about you, or your language. Only except perhaps the pope was Polish. You must remember that until very recently Poland was considered along the same lines as Belarus internationaly, you still have a lot of catching up to do in peoples minds

an I get a direct flight or will I have to change at Moscow?'

That doesnt seem particularly stupid either considering there were little or no direct flights into Poland from the likes of Ireland before Poland joined the EU and people usually had to change elsewhere, so its normal to assume that might be in a neighbouring country.

but my little sister who is a scientist tells me all the time about other scientists asking her "how was it growing up under the boot of the communists" or commenting as if she'd endured this....

Why is that stupid, many people in their 20s were alive during communisim ? It seems very reasonable someone foreign might ask what it was like to survive through communisim.

A girl, totally surprised asked 'do you have discos in Poland'

20 years ago you had no 'discos', and as 20 yrs isnt a very long time to be coming out of communisim I dont consider that to be a very stupid question, ignorant perhaps.

people often ask why the Polish charged at tanks with cavalry

Im impressed they asked you that actually

and also do cops in Poland have guns

Thats not stupid either, cops dont have guns in the UK or Ireland.

News / What's the stupidest question asked about Poland? [414]

Maybe they weren't always as cool as the Western but in those times nothing was as cool.

No of course not, Im not silly :) I was speaking generally and offering an explanation as to why a lot of people would think there were no 'discos' etc. People associate communisim with Poland, and most associate communisim with restrictions of lifestyle. I dont have any strange idea of communisim, or the idea of Poland after its fall. I live in Poland and have studied Polish history and culture extensively. I was merely offering up some logical reasons why many people not familiar with your country might think as they do.

So what? What does EU have to do with it, anyway? We already were in Europe 900 years before the idea of EU emerged.

That has a lot to do with it, because Poland is a relatively new member of the EU and people generally associate Europe with the EU.

you needed a little customs clearance, and now you just wave your ID and go.

Im aware of that :) My point being that there were nowhere near the amount of Polish people abroad as there are today. In Ireland for example there were virtually no Polish people here until EU membership, so nobody had ever the opportunity to meet or listen to a Polish person speak. Now of course I and most educated people would have known the Polish people speak 'Polish' but its not surprising that a lot might not as they had no exposure to the language or pupulace.

As far as I know, during the 80s, there was a lot of stuff about Wałęsa in international media. And, of course, there was the pope.

I for one never remember anything about seeing Poland ever mentioned in the international media. Other than of course the Pope, whos picture still hangs in every Irish home today :)

but I know that in Korea they speak Korean and not, e.g. Chinese.

Thats a valid point, and while ignorance is never excusable I do try and understand it.

while Poland has been there for some time

I assure you, there are many, many people who are very ignorant of history. With the widespread dumbing down of education now throughout Europe, I suspect ignorance will flourish

Apart from 'do you have cars over there' of course.

'Crap' indeed but an ignorant assumption easily explained nevertheless. Ireland my native country was the same under British oppression, but we still danced and drank :)

Poles used the cavalry to charge against vulnerable against that attack German artillery.

Considering that most of this generation know little or nothing about history, fictional or otherwise I find it refreshing that they know Poland was even in a war !

my Polish friends love me because I know loads about their country.

Arent you the same lady who recently commented that "Oh My God Polish men are the best lovers in the world, they are the best at sex in the world, Oh My God" because you were in love with your boyfriend ? Im not surprised your Polish friends love you, Im sure they are very flattered also ;)

WE sure did, the light ball turning at the ceiling and all

Ha,ha the disco ball, I remember nthem in Ireland, few of them still around actually :)))

News / What's the stupidest question asked about Poland? [414]

And to be serious I don't see any reason why foreigner should recognize the sound of Polish language

I of course know the difference, but I didnt always. For most foreigners there is little or no difference between Russian and Polish, they consider you all accents from this side of the world similar.

You've got no idea what you are talking about. Actually this thread is about people like you.

No it isnt :) I have an idea what I am talking about, and I know that the nightlife in Poland during communisim wasnt comparable to that elsewhere. Please dont take it personally, I was just offering an explantion as to why people have ignorant assumptions

Are people really that ignorant that they can't tell a political union from a continent?

Yes, sadly that is the mindset of most people. They equate Europe with the EU.

really? Even in Jews and Methodists and Church of Ireland ppl?...:)

Well, Im sure he has a place in the hearts of the 4% of jews, methodists and COI also :)
