UK, Ireland / Domestic arguments caused by differences between Polish and English culture [109]

yesterday my Polish man told me that if a woman in Poland was as bossy as me she would get a slap..

Maybe in the gutter hes from. No Polish woman of any standing would tolerate drunkard.

Don't get me started on the alcohol issues, the other little cultural difference.

You mean he couldn't take your drinking bouts?

News / Poland's Guy Fawkes [88]

At least this one was caught in time and will either face prison, mental health treatment or both.

Maybe, though he seems to be a harmless nutter.

Lost your favourite hat, have you?

Why do you have a spare one?

Although looking at their views on things such as same-sex marriage and inter-racial marriage and equal rights usually gives us a very good idea

You mean if somebody differs from you on those subjects must be twisted bitter and gathering explosives under his bed. If he also do not share your views of global order without religions and nations he must be terrorist or at least has potential to be one.

Are you really claiming all that?

News / Poland's Guy Fawkes [88]

What a silly comment. A foiled terrorist act by a guy with weapons and bomb making materials and plans to attack the parliament building is a big story.

What about a tin foiled terrorist act ?

History / Was Prussia mostly German? [65]

Even the German Prussians themselves didn't like their Teutonic overlords and allied themselves with the King of Poland to overthrow the Teutonic Knights, Prussia therefore became part of the Polish Commonwealth, pledging allegiance to the King of Poland, but maintaining its own German Laws and Governance.

You forget that Teutonic order overtook land which belonged to the Polish Crown - namely Gdansk and area!
French Huguenots played their role in history of Prussia.

So it was always a Germanic country following the initial ethnic cleansing by the Teutonic Knights, but gradually gained a more diverse collection of peoples, even so, it still had a greater percentage of Germans

See your sentence is meaningless! Germanic country because of Germanic elite, nobody bothered about peasants - anywhere. Only XIX century make Germans from peasants. Most of them anyway.

This is more a potted history of West Prussia

Are you talking about Royal Prussia or what?

the man who says that fertilizer cannot be used as explosives, i.e. you.

that is a lie.
taking this thread off topic harry? go and lie somewhere else.

News / Poland's Guy Fawkes [88]

But you want to tell us that the reality was that he didn't have explosives.

No, I was pointing out your lies. Also having an access to fertilizer is not the same I being in possession of explosives, Why would you lie Harry?

And back we come to the city you want us all to ignore: Oklahoma City.

What it has to do with anything?

The reality is that you are very simply lying, just as you were on the first page of this thread. And just as I did on that page, I'm busting you on your lies again on this page.

WTF? Are you going in circles? Maybe it is your medical condition? never mind ....

Yes, all he was doing was putting together all the equipment needed for a huge car-bomb, scouting sites in which to put it, collecting fire-arms and recruiting other plotters. All of that is completely harmless.

Up to the point! Didn't he recruit only special ops agents?

+1

I commend the Poles. Beating Romanians and Somalians is some achievement !

There is 122 000 Poles in London. Almost 1/4 of total.

Good if someone wants to make anti-personnel explosives, useless otherwise.
Anyway it is not about his means or ability but his readiness and sanity!wherever he would be doing something sinister other than few rants on the internet without special ops agents?

Also why they claim that he is some kind of right wing extremist? Are they implying that PO and the Parliament are full of Bolsheviks? lol

News / Poland's Guy Fawkes [88]

Er, the reality is that he had four tons of explosives, plus detonators, fuses and other bomb-making materials.

Er..you want debate reality with me ..?First of all he had access to four tons of fertilizer it is not the same as possessing four tons of explosives.

Well, he could make a bomb, so what? Ability to do something is not a crime yet., otherwise everyone who shouted I kill you should be jailed.

For example those over-18 who wanted to drown Giertych, they all should go to jail especially if any of them keep few sacks at home.

Let say that he was somewhat of a loon, whatever or not he need help should be determined by psychiatrist. So far however seems to me that secret police induced by politically motivated orders or suggestion selected that dude to pin on him accusation of terrorism. When in fact if left to himself he would be perfectly harmless.

Funny that they say he is far right radical, anti-Semite and terrorist - can you explain in what way he is all those things? All key words invoicing predictable response from the western public opinion.

Nobody will protest( if would anyway) then when current government will sort out opposition in Poland by whatever means necessary. Are you all (especially those living in Poland) so bloody stupid? Maybe you just don't care as long as a Gay parade is not banned.

Never a good sign.

No, but as I understand his only real associates are special ops agents - so all that big hallo and hysteria whipped up in the media by the government is just part of a scam to pin it on the opposition.

Need i remind you PO member murdering PiS politician just because he was listening to the hate propaganda in the Polish media? Maybe he was inspired by well known person as well? Who knows? I doubt they were investigating it from that angle.

I'm sure Tusk will make the most of this case. Need I remind you that it is all speculations, he did nothing and as far as I can tell his planes where pretty unlikely to come even close to fruition.

Given the way PO propaganda spin it I think it is worthy to remember that one real victim of political extremists was PiS politician killed by PO member or ex-member. Somehow I do see Tusk taking responsibility for his propaganda of blaming everything on opposition.

Life / British living in Poland - documentary [42]

The round table was a clear sign that the structures of the state were crumbling and the the commies knew this perfectly well and were ready to negotiate.

The way I see it they needed these eight years (1980-1989) to prepare transformation from communism to capitalism with themselves at the helm. If they were (if Kremlin) would have committed to fight to the hilt it could go on for a long time.

Keep kidding yourself.

Yes I do! The plain one was good though.

What changed? Pretty much everything.

Are you still in ave or what? fine you can buy everything if you have money now, then you couldn't buy everything even if you had money - same difference!

Anyway I was talking about establishment.

That's the good old attitude right here.

You see there was good old Polish farmer who has been rising his meat himself and from whom your mum could have bought it.

Life / British living in Poland - documentary [42]

Obviously things are much better now than during communism, but the fact that there is mass emigration, must mean it's still pretty sh1t here.

frankly when it comes to rise family and live - not really! People could afford to do it then and cannot now that the fact.

I never claimed that it was easy and pleasant, it worked for me, I guess women are less up to challenge..if it doesn't involve men lol!

Yeah, they got so mild that when I moved to Mazury in the early nineties the lake I lived next to would freeze over completely several winters in a row

I remember them somehow milder then before.

Yeah, I was also totally freezing in 91-94,

Was it? damn,I guess I didn't really payed attention.

Don't know. But living in Poland, it's gonna be cold in the winter, whatever the government ...

yep blaming it on government is a bit rich.

the infrequent and unheated buses with icicles

not all the time ...

the undeveloped public transport

Not so bad, could be better.

failing communist state.

Failing? you mean if not for the round table communism would fail anyway? I don't think so!

long bread lines

Don't recall them, I recall buying easily yogurt and bread roll, you know the longish kind,a stage between baguette and a short bread roll.

Yogurt was somehow better than nowadays. Less of chemicals and all that ****.

On the other hand, people who were comfortably cushioned within the system, who had so-called "backing" (plecy), or who participated in the shady dealing and trading that took place all around

What changed? They can do it openly now and show you a finger.

The Pewex shops stocked with seemingly normal products like lipstick, jeans, and cans of Coke,

Hey? Are you talking 60' or something? Coke you could buy easily in a bottle and was somehow better then #coke I drink sometimes nowadays. Fact, there were no cans, but hell who needs them, glass bottles are more ecological.. as for lipstick I;m not using it.:)

I could blame my parents for not playing along, for not joining all those dealing, trading, stealing, and "borrowing"

Come on, for not buying meat from other sources, nothing wrong with it. Honestly I don't understand where you come from with this[i]hunger[/i??? Yes, there were shortages of meat but then it wasn't that bad, there were no chocolate though(I still don't understand why- in 80' ? - I think they were doing it on purpose)When my father brought few bars from somewhere I was looking at them as if they were bars of gold lol!

Who then sold it to your mum on the side, more often than not.

Not them!

Yeah, that would be definitely fun, to start walking and have the bus pass me by on the way, and then wait another 20-40 minutes for the next one.

Well **** happens but then if you are clever about that not that often as you think, you just walk another tow stops - no big deal.

Funny that I have never felt that bitterly cold since I could actually start buying proper winter clothing.

In 90' winters started to be mild.

I bought my first down jacket in 1990 and I still remember the bliss.

You are a woman, you would anyway!

I would say 25% or so at best. They all vote for PIS now.

That BS Zibi how old are you?12?
I would say majority, so about 50% to 70%, the rest commies, all kinds of opportunists and political police guys, military intelligence and upper echelons of commie generals and their families they made it!Also few processionals and those who made by the way.

You Zbi are forgetting that in the Polish elections takes part about 30% to 50% of all citizens who have right to vote!
Also voters are not divided by the line - those who made versus those who didn't. That is only your imagination. Also there are m,any young voters who are just swayed by propaganda in the Polish mass media.

Life / British living in Poland - documentary [42]

But I absolutely craved meat (don't ask me why, but I did), and my mother pretty much refused to stand in line for hours for a pathetic piece of mangled meat on the bone

Blame your mum!
I was hungry at times due to the fact that meat which supposed to be my feed was being thieved by thieving bastards. I was never hungry at home, I was fed lots of meat at home.

And because my winter clothes and shoes were not the best quality (to put it mildly), and living in Warsaw meant waiting at bus stops (sometimes for an hour, mostly over 20 minutes) - I

Hallo? You should-have moving-more, I used to walk from one bus stop to other, especially on freezing winter evening. It figures - you are cold during the winter,it has nothing to do with communism.

I do not look back with nostalgia.

Nevertheless majority of people have been screwed by the transformation.

ell, I am Polish, and I lived through the eighties in Poland (as a teenager and young adult), and believe me, I did not like it. Not everything is wonderful in Poland today, but please - don't start telling me how things were great earlier.

Well, for majority it was a better deal - money wise - it seems.

I was constantly hungry and in the winter, I was constantly cold and ill.

Constantly hungry? WTF? Statistically speaking more children is malnourished in Poland now than during 70' and 80'!

Being concerned for the future of ones country because of a tsunami of foreigners coming here for financial gain is school girl behavior?
