News / What is wrong with Poland that Poles emigrate? [167]

*sorry for any offence caused by any spelling or grammer mistakes in this post, yes i am english, yes i am educated. I however am not very good at typing, and tend to type as fast as i can without looking at my screen. I'm also too lazy to check it before posting it.*

2 points for consideration...

firstly - instead of making the effort to type out the above on your posts you could spend the time to correct what you have written if it means so much to you to be correct

secondly - nobody cares about spelling or grammar errors...

Travel / Starbucks in Poland? [149]

rule of thumb when in the UK, be wary if a UK resident is making your coffee. they are better at cups of tea than coffee

thats could be because you are not english and thus dont realise a good cup of coffee when you drink one...

News / Illegal drugs in the EU - Polish gangs are top sellers [56]

i dont doubt this... but i read recently that meth hasnt taken the foothold in the uk that was generally expected due to the ease of which coke is available and the price it sells for... i did hear, however, that meth has made small inroads into the gay community... as well as the polish... are they selling this crap to their own people...?

Travel / Starbucks in Poland? [149]

pizza hut failed on monte cassino, closed and has been replaced with a stuff-as-much-in-your-mouth-as-possible-for-only-15zl... much more popular it seems... which is strange given the penchant for pizza in poland

Real Estate / Substantial amount of agricultural land in Poland - what to do with it [23]

land value varies tremendously depending on location, whether there is an ashfalt road, water, gas, electricity, whether it is agricultural land only, whether it can be used for recreational purposes or whether it can be built on... applying [and getting] permission to build etc will add value but takes time...

an article in one of the big papers last week announced that now was the time to get your holiday house before the prices sky rocketed... people are grabbing land within an hour or so driving distance from larger cities to build holiday homes on...

Genealogy / How hard is it to get a Polish passport? [74]

American citizens may find it an advantage if they need to buy land in poland.

some might see it as a ticket into the EU

Life / Do Polish People steal a lot? [330]

In Poland people glue their license plates to their cars

this is true... there is a new law in poland where you have to drive with your lights on so that people can see you if you are stealing a car... some people say its to make the roads safer so that people will be able to see if there is a car coming... as if you would miss a car hurtling towards you... duh...

Travel / Which city is better to visit: Warsaw or Krakow? [169]

Wonder how much has changed since then ?

i spent time in wawa in the mid 90s then avoided it till last summer when i spent a few weeks there... its changed, for the better, and there are some really cool places to hang out, but its a big city and for me it doesnt have the same vibe as some of the smaller polish cities...

Work / Cost of Living, Average Salaries and Job sites in Poland [263]

poles are incredibly secretive about what they earn... or what their business earns... any figure they do let slip out will probably not be the truth...

Costs of living in Warsaw for one person? I would say that it is about 1500 PLN.

but dont expect to eat or drink for this figure...

its not that im a chef or anything but in the uk i cook my sweetcorn, in boiling water, for twenty minutes or so...

when i told this to my polish friends they laughed and said it should be at least an hour... maybe two...

so i laughed at them and said yeah... whatever...
