Genealogy / SEARCHING FOR A RUSSIAN FATHER.....where to begin.... [12]

The Russian soldier did come back to his Polish girlfriend after she told him she was pregnant , he wanted to give her money to get rid of the baby , which she refused...

He made another visit to her later , but apparently she told him to get lost...

Genealogy / SEARCHING FOR A RUSSIAN FATHER.....where to begin.... [12]

It may be an impossible task to find this guy , and even if we find him he could of course want nothing to do with the girl , or even deny he is the father... A blood test would prove it of course , but if he only takes one when forced to it won,t make his relationship with his long lost Polish daughter any better....

Thanks for the information guys , i will pass it on to My Russian girlfriend and she will first try the Russian social networking sites and the ex military meeting sites...

It would be great to help this girl find her dad....whatever the result....

Genealogy / SEARCHING FOR A RUSSIAN FATHER.....where to begin.... [12]

During the weekend i was talking to a lovely Polish girl who i met along with her husband and small child by the lakeside....

They were admiring my Harley , so i let them and their friends take some pics of the kids on the bike....and they kindly invited me to join them for a gril...

Anyways , when i got talking to them i discovered the girl has been searching for the father she has never seen , a Russian soldier involved in a romance with a Polish girl , who chose to vanish over the horizon when the Polish girl informed him she was pregnant....

We know the name of this Russian soldier , we know he was stationed at the Russian military camp in Borno sullinovo , and we know he was from Moscow.... Obviously my Russian girlfriend in Moscow is going to be helpfull here...

Can anyone suggest where i can find out what Russian units were at Borno sullinovo...i know there were mobile nuclear launchers there , but maybe other units too...???

This girl wants very much to know who her father was , and maybe even meet him if he is still alive , she is aware that he may not want to meet her , but i guess she has to find out....

I would like to help her.. any suggestions.....?

Life / Driving across Poland (zigzag style) [15]

The number of islands for pedestrian and making the left-turn safer was enormous. In fact, I had a single chance to overtake a truck on the whole route £owicz - BÅ‚onie. Yeah, such islands increase the safety in one respect but these are curse for a tired driver at night

They are definatly a good idea... but do they really need to have these super bright flashing arrows to tell you the island is there....?

The lights are needed , but they are so bright that they dazzle you , and you can,t see if there are any people crossing... They destroy your night vision for several vital seconds.....

It gets a bit tricky when you pull into this empty lane on your left get stuck in it for a few hundred yards while a load of cars pass you , then around the corner you find....

A polish family having a picnik in the lane... or a bunch of peeps selling apples and mushrooms...!

Off-Topic / im a true polish patriot [30]

Mother tells me that she used to report Anti Polish traitors to the government because they were hurting our country.

Did anyone die as a result of this , or did they just get thrown in jail and beaten up a lot....?

News / RHD cars in Poland - my campaign to change the rules in Poland [128]

Has anyone on PF ever driven a lhd car in the British Isles?

Yes , i used to collect American cars , all were left hand drive...Its not a problem , you just have to be a bit more carefull...

I have driven on both sides of the road , with cars with the wheel on either side..it would only be a problem if i tried to drive like many of the Polish drivers , but after more than twenty years on the race tracks on bikes and in cars , i don,t feel the need to prove anything by driving like an idiot....

Life / Where can I buy cardboard boxes in Warsaw? I will be moving stuff from UK. [13]

If they don,t deliver , there will be some local guy who will pick them up for you.. for a price...

If you get cartons that are flat , in other words not made up into boxes , you will need a tape gun and lots of rolls of tape...

Don,t forget to write on the cartons whats inside...makes it so much easier when it comes to unpacking....

Life / Where can I buy cardboard boxes in Warsaw? I will be moving stuff from UK. [13]

I have all my stuff packed up in boxes ready for a move too....

I got all my boxes from my local Beidronka , and local shops , and they did not cost me anything...

If you get all your friends collecting boxes for you , you will soon have enough for all your stuff....

good luck with the move...

Motorcycle will weave in and out between the gridlocked cars because they can

Part of the fun of having one.... its more dangerous on a bike...we get cold and wet sometimes..but we don,t get stuck in traffic...

Travel / Driving to Poland from England - any tips? [264]

There will be plenty of good fuel stops...

When i rode my Harley from UK to Poland i was a bit worried about finding enough fuel stops , as the silly little fuel tank on a Sportster only holds enough for 120 miles , with a reserve that can get you only 20 miles... I had a five litre fuel tank strapped to the rear seat just in case....

It was not a problem , even at night in Poland , found plenty of places to get fuel...

Life / Moving to Poland - Checklist / Things to Consider [33]

what about birth cert, tax documentation from ireland,

I have been in Poland almost six years....

never been asked for tax documents , and the first time i have needed my birth certificate was to send to my lawyer in Moscow to get documents to marry my Russian girlfriend....

If your wife speaks Polish you will have a lot easier time than i did....

wouldn't recommend the move without knowledge of the language though.

You can get around that part if you have trusted Polish friends who speak English...

Without them i would have had no chance....

Just bring your passport , and all personal documents....

For most of what i have needed to do in Poland my passport was the thing that got asked for usually....

it should be safe to stop for petrol at night right?

Its perfectly safe at night at the petrol stations in Poland....

the only place you may get some dodgy people hanging around is at the border....but you will be safe enough...don,t worry....

Love / I met a Polish guy but wonder what his intention is.. [35]

That's the first thing I noticed and learned to accept about him, and for the past year, he cut his intake to one can from five cans per day. :)

Wow...seems you have got him sorted...
