UK, Ireland / A new mayor in London: opinion of Polish people in the UK? [317]

did you read what he says about London status in reference to brexit vote? something about him wanting London to become city state.:
"He declared: "As much as I might like the idea of a London city state, I'm not seriously talking about independence today"

then there are some from his office demanding right to issue visas and passports to be given to London authorities.
isnt that worry brits?are they that blind not to see danger here or there is nothing to worry about?

lol.i ment sadiq khan..forgot to mention

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

so that the public think cons are pro exit but "due to some understandable division" a snap election will be called, brexit will be reversed.

Not really. It was always made clear that the referendum was non-binding, the majority was less than 2%

nahh..i dont believe cons gonna pull that stinker. look, most of them support Gove as next PM now,Gove who is fanatical brexiter and radical conservative.so its clear that cons gonna stick to leaving EU

"We control the timing of when we trigger Article 50 and we will do it when we're good and ready."

same ppl were saying how great future awaits Britain after leaving..not rushing to greatness is kinda confusing message to voters.
if its so great thing-why waiting so long?

EU has also indicated that Britian will be given two options, either a Norway style package or something similar to Canada.

Norway has free movement of ppl with the EU -so its not gonna be accepted by Britain.

According to Michael Gove he doesn't expect Britain to trigger Article 50 this year

huh?why such delay?its seems like they dont wanna do it at all.even Farage said that among brexit camp leaders are some traitors.

i cant see reason for such delay unless someone is planning another referendum.if they want to leave then do it quick and then got on with the job, market doesnt like uncertainty.

Perhaps one option is to start secret negotiations with the EU again

they haven't evoked art 50 of EU treaty yet,and i think Cameron did delay triggering it ,hoping EU would propose some concession to Britain and to see what fallout will be.EU leaders refused to negotiate, demanding Britain to tiger 50 art. before any talks.

My mother always says there has always been an underlying dislike of Poles from the time she came to the UK (1950's)

yes.funny,i never understood ,what problem have Brits against Poles.Australians,N.Zelanders from among anglosaxon nations have so different attitude. british really dislike poles.

ppl say cus poles means benefit frauds or jobs or housing shortage problem or poles are different culturally..all rubbish.half of asians or africans live on social walfare ,and brits have no problem with it at all.anyone who been living in the UK knows that vast majority of asians has council accommodations or that africans dont work at all.Somali unemployment is like over 80%.and nobody has problem with it as long as is not polish everything is okey.

as we should all admit that none of us have a clue how this will unfold.

alot will depends if EU eurokrats can behave like an adults and part ways while still stay friends.but when i hear juncker and tusk threatening to punish Britain i dont have much hope. those eurocrats are delusional maniacs.and any restrictions to full access to market for britain will have bad outcome for both parties.so lets hope this threatening is only for show, and they will negotiate reasonably behind closed doors.EU needs friendly britain as much as Britain needs EU

UK, Ireland / London's POSK smeared with anti-Polish grafitti [150]

bit unfair to be honest. in country of 65 milions big, there is now way that some racist incidents dont happen.same with crime, bulgaries ect.

those media are going to attach racist label to brits like they did to poles being antisemitic.look its just graffiti and yesterday jeremy corbyn visited the place.

yea...but things are getting a bit out of control now.i got impression that media are doing some witch-hunt on them brits.
those are incidents that been happening before but never got so much attention.its kinda obvious that such things happen sometimes when different cultures lives next to each other.

today again, some "terrible" story about some polish guy who suffered horrible abuse from someone who said to him "go back to poland" .its becoming grotesque racist stories hunting.

it looks like media are trying to punish brits for voting out.

So why has Britain's credit rating been downgraded then

i tho Lehman brothers had pristine ratings.and Greece.

and a 1% minus growth forecast been made for 2017, putting Britain into recession, down from + 1.8%?

no doubt, short term negative effect will happen.but long term? look, from among western culture countries the one who are in EU doing worst by far. N zeland, switzerland, australia, canada, norway are doing much better than half of EU,where many countries are almost bankrupt, and others barely have any grow. now, explain that.

dont believe all them banksters predictions.they are most corrupted, nasty lairs on earth.look at goldman sachs and their credit ratings to Greece few years back

You have as much understanding as a lot of people in the UK who did vote.

The reality is this, the UK is going have its economy wrecked and many people will lose their jobs.

reality is,one need extremely deep knowledge of economics and international law, international trade ect.in order to asses it.i dont have it,nor you do.there is no way we little people know for sure economy will be wrecked.even experts dont know

all those people who were leading debates were using populism for masses

lol. i had a situation today.really nasty exchange in sainsburry. foker behind the counter not only tried to nick me 10 quit saying i gave him ten not twenty, then when i said i gave him 20 he replied there is no 20 note in the counter cus he clean it.. later manager checked and he lied.there was 20 note .then he refuse to apology after security checked cctv. and then it got really nasty exchange.he went like:listen bro,i had long day so i made mistake ,show me respect ect,and all that in front of manager.. i fokin lost it.and you could really see hatred in his eyes. cnut half of my age talking gangsta slang and demanding respect.his manager was shocked.

but i think it was more about some young gangsta who shouldn't work in customer service than some brexit related ******* i camt remember last time someone talked to me like that. english are very polite usually.this guy refused to even appology. tensions are high right now.hope it calms down.whatta ****** day

But, Just think if Scotland picked up the London banking sector which is 35% of UK GDP, Wow.

financial sector make up 75% of Britain GDP.Britain needs very good negotiating team to make sure EU dont restrict Britain financial sector operating in the Otherwise it will be bad for Britain, very bad. banks will move to EU or even switzerland if they get better conditions.

Britain will gonna have to waive off even more tax to banks to keep them in London.but Sadiq Khan want to increase taxation of financial sector in order to pay for his promises such as freezing transport fares ect.and now hes demanding more autonomy for London.crazy

Oh, I can see Germany leaving next year, too. The breaking-apart of the EU would be a disaster for the countries in the south and east of the continent, though.

dissaster? it would be big time opportunity to create great union.Poland will have a chance to forge EE kinda union.with croats serbs, ukra ,belarus, cech slovaks and hungarians.

man that would be glorious.the west has become sick man of the world.need to get out quick

UK, Ireland / How might Britain`s withdrawal from EU affect Poles there and here? [474]

The EU is in charge. EU citizens are entitled to the same benefits as UK citizens.

lol..you are clueless.poles are not entitle for housing benefits if not working-just for starter.only 3 moths of job seeker but only after 6 months of employment and after tuff habitual residence test.ect.

i been working as social worker,i know stuff.there are massive restrictions.thats the thing bout brexit-ppl are clueless and being fed with bs about poles living on benefit hence so many wants out.

If and when its ratified the 'courts' cannot just over-ride it.

actually UK can do whatever it wants and EU court cant do much.it related to UK has right to refuse any walfare benefits to EU migrants on basis of "UK can refuse benefits if has financial problem".which means-anytime it wants.:

it was quite a story recently..and big win for Cameron.gives full decision power to UK over benefits for migrants in return for UK to stay

Life / Number of church attendees in Poland [54]

not presumption from my expierience.for all my friends i had through out my youth time, going to church was a boring as hell pain in the ass obligation to parents.

i never had or knew a single friend who enjoyed going to church.ever.ppl go to church in Poland cus tradition and cus they dont want to by judged by neighbours.

to fake too stiff, pagan ritual, completely disconnected from attendants ceremony in byzantine beautifully interiors where people were afraid to sneeze.bollocks.
i attended many services in the UK and there were great.guy walking among people, telling interesting things ect.not some smoking insesses, splashing holy water(whatever that is) and some other strange repetetive rituals

Life / Number of church attendees in Poland [54]

[moved from]

It is not a cultural thing in Poland not to want to have children. Poland is a majority Catholic country and Catholicism encourages families and having children.

i think you dont know much about polish catolicizm.its more about traditions, nobody listen to what priest are saying really.
i spent 10 years going to church every sunday cus my mum wanted me to go..never understood them priests or listening them.it was boring as hell, and look more like pagan ritual with all them fkin water splashing, smoke incense,go to knees, stand up,sing,go to knees, sit down, stand ,sing,go home.

News / Poland PiS' unpopular welfare policies lead to spike in TV purchases and alcohol problems [31]

but unlike him I also think they will achieve a higher birth rate.

low birth rate is cus of cultural not economical reason.i can assure you if you give 10 000 zl a month to all teenage girls in Poland, they will spent it on handbags and shoes not gonna suddenly start giveing birth to children.

poorer countries-more babies
richer countries -less babies
its all down to emantipation of women in the west who want to be managers and drive mercs not sitting in kitchen.
higher status of woman in society-less babies
got it?

UK, Ireland / How might Britain`s withdrawal from EU affect Poles there and here? [474]

It a question of getting a handle of those abusing the welfare system and those planning to arrive on the shores with the plan to abuse.

i dunno, you see there is not a large numbers of abusers.is it really worth it to leave EU just to crack on few thousands abusers and save lets say 30 milion a year from that clampdown?

i watched many debates with brexit ppl and rarely ever heard about poles abusing welfare system.
they arguments were that poles stress NHS and put housing prices up crippling chances of young ppl to get on housing ladder.
and that poles bring down wages.
i am not best in economics, but they been always saying that rising value of properties is good, now they say is bad.cheap labour is good, other say is bad for economy

and even this suppose to "massive stress" on NHS. poles make up about 1% of population of britain. mostly young people who dont use NHS often .so how much pressure is really on NHS? seems bs to me

of course "Brits" will and do work in construction, don't be silly gregy.

in London, mostly as managers and better paid trades like electricians or plumbers.i didnt say they dont at all ,i said most of staff are EE..
