Love / Polish girls hard in relationships [156]

you know, i don't know where those guys find these crazy and mental girls... because they don't have any balls, they come to a Polish forum to cry and whine about it, which got already old and pisses me off...

It's true that some men can't handle woman.

Life / My own thoughts about life in Poland (have lived here for two years) [133]

in Poland it is all about what contacts you have

After living and studying 3 years in Poland, I agree with this. But it's not unique to PL.

The class system in Poland is made up of three things your family name, position of power and money.

The same as in all Western countries.

The need to show off is very much alive and kicking in PL.

This is very true.

Trying to live like an Englishman in Poland just does not work..you have to learn to live and think like a Pole

Also many young Poles think it's difficult to be "different" in Poland. You must be just like everybody else to be accepted.

However, things are slowly changing.

History / Was there sex in Poland during communist regime? [60]

Of course they didn't have sex. All Polish "persons" born 1946-1990 are communist robots.

On the left buttock you will find a tattoo "Tysiąclecie Państwa Polskiego" and a batch-number.

They were produced by the same company that made Polonez.

Life / My own thoughts about life in Poland (have lived here for two years) [133]

Some things are very expensive in Poland; eg. electronic equipment, jeans etc. But the biggest problem is the low salaries.

Many things are cheaper in Germany, even though the average German salary is significantly higher than in PL.

UK, Ireland / Ive been in the UK for 6 days to relocate and im going back to Poland. [281]

When we talk about relocating and racism, we must know what we are talking about.

I'm trying my best not to be a racist.

But to be honest, I think many (not all) immigrants are more racist than native people (in my country; Sweden).

What does 'racist' actually mean? It's an interesting question.

Is it racist to say that immigrants from outside Europe commit more crimes than native Europeans?
Is it racist to say it if you can prove it with statistics?

Is it racist when immigrants attack (verbally/physically) people who are a minority?
Is it racist when immigrants attack (verbally/physically) people who are not a minority?

Travel / Camping in the Baltic Coast area, too cold? [16]

thank you - we're thinking early September - is that still warm enough? And our tent is good and waterproof!

Nights and early mornings are rather cold.

Life / What's the spiritual atmosphere like in Poland these days? [12]

Do you see most Polish Catholics go to church every Sunday?

Yes, especially on the countryside.

there are a few protestant churches in PL

There are still many in woj. warmińsko-mazurskie, which once (not so long time ago) had more protestantic than catholic churches.

Language / "który" - relative pronoun question [12]

she studied Philology. It gave her a whole new way of viewing things that us native speakers barely give a superficial sweep to.

This is why 'a native speaker' doesn't always mean 'a good teacher'.

E.g. grammar, rules and structures are usually better explained by people who learned the language as adults.

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

No worries, Pibwl. It is a classic and VERY underrated beer, IMHO. It is crisp and could even win awards.

Which one?

Perła Premium? I have never seen it. Where..?

Love / Possibility of Marriage with a Polish lady [96]

Is it possible? Yes.
Is it common? No.
Is it easy? No.

It's possible. But as you know the cultures are totally different. Take it easy before you know more about her feelings.

Travel / How much is a cab: Warsaw airport to the bus station? [27]

This is an important thread.

Taxi (taxameter) from the airport to the Central station costs 25-30 zl.

However, it's very common that people inside the airport try to get like 60 zl. Never accept anything else than taxameter.

Law / Red Tape - Polish drivers licenses [7]

Well well well, it looks like you can drive vans up to 7.5 t. And minibuses with up to 16 seats (with a maximum length not exceeding 8 m). Since C1 and D1 has been accepted in the whole EU now.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_driving_licence#Categories_valid_in_all_EU_countries.5B2.5D

Nah it just struck a cord yesterday when i saw a Polish drivers licences it wouldnt have surprised me if a standard Polish driver has to take a bloody test and pay money for every single thing other than just driving a car.

However, it's very cheap to get different driving licenses in PL compared to Western Europe.

Food / Counterfeit alcohol in Poland? [9]

but the tax stamp strip reads "pow. 0,2l" even though the bottle is 0,7l, which is dodgy...

If it's not wine, it's correct. Because it means more than 0,2l high-% alc. They only write more/less than 0,2 l.

For wine you have only more/less than 0,5 l.

Food / Counterfeit alcohol in Poland? [9]

It's very safe to buy it in normal shops. They would never dare to sell counterfeit alcohol. There is a tax-paper-strip on the top of all bottles.

I have lived 3 years in Poland, I have never seen any counterfeit alcohol in normal shops.

News / POLAND LEAVING WHAT COUNTRY FOR A BETTER LIFE?? [73]

It's not a secret that it's very difficult for foreigners to get a job in PL, if they don't have a rare skill that is highly demanded at moment.

With rare I mean something that not many Poles have. Since Polish companies prefers to hire Poles.

Life / Bollywood in Poland [32]

Indian film productions have become popular in Europe over the last 5-10 years.

Polish people have a tendency to emigrate to (almost) all parts of the world.
They say that there are quite a few Poles living in India now. But less Poles than in Brazil or Australia.

Law / Red Tape - Polish drivers licenses [7]

B, BE, C1, C1E, D1 and D1E

According to the new EU-classification this means just B.

B includes old C(1) and D(1) up to only 3.5 ton.

C and D are for "unlimited" weight (Eg. TIR).

So what you actually have is the new B-licence.You can drive cars, vans and (mini)buses up to 3.5 ton.

Dont forget A - which is motorcycle. If you get a mc-licence you will get a new licence where is only written "A, B".

News / Poland needs four children per family for sustain survivor and development [46]

Poland needs less people and better use of its resources. There isn't exactly a labor shortage at the moment...

What Poland needs is better use of its resources. Not more people. A rapid increase in population would increase the unemployment rate.

Poland also needs a stronger economic growth to get tax-money to welfare. Many hospitals (including "mine") have extremely big economic problems now.

More small companies and increase their incitement to hire 1 more person. If every small company would hire only 1 more person, the tax-money that can be used for welfare would be taken to a whole new level. And the expensive unemployment would decrease a lot.

However, in a longer time perspective, more young people are needed to manage the pensions. This is one of the biggest economical problem in many Western countries. Too many old people, and too few young ones. An economists nightmare.

Travel / Which train in Poland am I less likely to get shanked on? [30]

so TLK is like "pospiesny"? did the "TLK" brand replace "pospiesny"? cause I dont see "pospiesny" listed anywhere on pkp.pl

Now there are 3 main standards for longer trips:
1. Intercity
2. TLK
3. Intercity

That changed the whole system, so a little difficult to compare. But TLK is okey. They usually have AC and rather comfortable seats.

However if you want new and really comfortable trains, Intercity is the only option. But you pay for more than you get i.m.o.

Travel / Which train in Poland am I less likely to get shanked on? [30]

here is the odd thing, InterRegio is the one that is like 20zl less expensive and the travel time is like 30mins shorter too

This is because the comfort in IR is very low. IR is always less expensive.
