Chciałbym zapytać. Trudno się jest nam porozumieć, z powodu bariery językowej wiec nauczyłem się kilku zdań po polsku bo jest to dla minie bardzo ważne.

Chce poprosić Pana o pozwolenie by oświadczyć się pańskiej córce.

Proszę zachować to w tajemnicy, dopóki nie zapytam.

History / Alexander the Great - Macedonski. Poland connection? [254]

I don't get it. Who is talking rubbish?

Harry

Independence for Scotland has nothing to do with petty nationalism and everything to do with the reality - that Scotland is a different country in many aspects to England.

Ah! So nationalism in Scotland has nothing to do with petty nationalist.Whereas nationalism in Poland does. Say no more.

As for it being a fact - you're a great example, aren't you Ironside?

Example of what?

You do it frequently with anyone that doesn't agree with your political viewpoint.

Not frequently but that beside the point. I don't disrespect anybody else country or their myths in an off hand manner

What non-European background?

Talking about Harry.

lemme see: Danish films, tv series, arts, design, culinary arts (number of Michelin star restaurants), literature, satire, stand-up... visible and internationally renowned and appreciated.. now the Polish ones.. um.. kinda quiet here in this corner, not saying nothing is happening, but yeah DK: 1 PL: 0, sorry mate

Well, given the long years of freedom and independence not pestered much by wars and occupation the only thing with a really international appeal is a Danish pastry. Not bad at all.

Life / First communion - it's that time of year again in Poland! [109]

I just wonder why in the thread about fist communion legion of non believers, pagans, freaks and others jump out of the box like a puppet on the spring just to post on everything but topic.

I mean they never miss the occasion to say - hey I don't believe in God. That and this is a nonsense.
I mean you are atheist or agnostic or whatever - fair enough. Where this urge to stress it pall mall and all over the place came from? From insecurity, doubts, ignorance, stupidity, arrogance?

After all I'm not posting on all threads there are regardless of the subject - hey I believe in God - and you are just bloody heathens.

Why non-believers are different would that be one or few listed reason or maybe just maybe those vices are cry for help. Those people are posting about God and religion because they deep dawn carve for it. They want to be convinced otherwise, they are in want of faith.

Maybe not all but many are just lost souls.

It is writen in Russian page of the same article.

It doesn't say much. They just wrote that without nothing else to back it up. I don't think that is a valid information.

Life / Poland and every aspect..... Please help me learn and understand the realities? [108]

Ok Ironside let me rephrase that, how was life among the "average Joe" during that period as opposed to the rest of Europe?

I would say it was pretty similar.#
There could be some diversities in social order, but on average Poland has been more sparsely populated and there were more independent societies.

Ironside, what are your feelings on Poland ceding more or eventually all of it's sovereignty?

I;m as I have been always against Poland entering the EU. So, you can imagine I'm not happy about loosing severity to some eurocrats.

Life / Poland and every aspect..... Please help me learn and understand the realities? [108]

boletus, how do you think the quality of life was for the average Polish serf as opposed to elsewhere in Europe during this era?

During the era there were no serfs.

Can someone tell me what the consensus is in Poland for the EU and Germany's urging that European Nations are going to have to cede more of their sovereignty?

I don;t think there is consensus in Poland on that. Current gov and its supporters are ready as they come to cede sovereignty and opposition is against them, most of the population are just in coma and do not care one way or the other.

History / FDR and Americas communist insurgency affecting Poland [35]

FDR done nothing for Poland he gave half of Europe into Stalin hands without murmur, he was more interested in dismantling the British empire and take over in the quest for the world domination. . He ensured that the USA will become set for corporations rule.

Language / "No tak"; The Oddest Phrase In Polish For This American [75]

Full of what, pray tell?

Tell you something you already know.
When I pray and I think, I think and pray.
Seldom I have time for empty words.
wherein you take pride in a plum
with air of vanity from your empty soul
to wrench awe from fools, easy prey.
Pray, prattle, bristle as you will
all this mean nothing to me.

History / Poland's Roads in the 17th Century [19]

Warsaw, my chief interest,

Warsaw became capital of Poland in 1596.

The question is, did the king and nobility do anything to improve the roads in the immediate vicinity for their own convenience if not for the beautification of their capital city?

If they did their efforts didn't make lasting impressions. As for 17th century its is a time when Poland/Union are constantly at war if not with one then with the other plus major rebellion of war.

To be honest you would have to search for specific archeological research if you are talking about a mile or two of cobblestone on some roads.

I said just the same! But in a bit lazy way :)

No, your explanation did not explain a thing - everything or nothing? Either you use your brain or you don't - now apologize for blunder and run along or stay and make a fool out of yourself by denying the obvious.

Language / "I go to the university by train" in Polish? [13]

But if I do it usually, regularly, frequently... you know, isn't it jeżdzić? Why dojeżdzić?

Well I ain't the language teacher.
If you do it regularly it should be dojeżdżać to work, school and so on..... people would say often jeździć as well in the case but that is not correct usage.

Obviously i'm wrong because i would've said ' Jade na uniwersytet w pociągu '
Can anyone tell me why this is wrong?

Jadę na uniwersytet pociągiem ? - that present continuous. That is correct provided you are talking on your mobile and telling somebody say your sweetheart your whereabouts.

On the other hand you would have been understood if you would say - Jeżdżę na uniwersytet pociągiem.

History / Poland's Roads in the 17th Century [19]

I can find little information about the Commonwealth's road network in the few books on Polish history written in English.

Most if not all reads in 17th century in Europe were roads without hard surface.. Only bridges were cared for with any regularity and system.

On the other hand Poland in 17th century had very well developed system of inland waterways used for mass transport and also for travel and which was much more tourist friendly and efficient than travel on mundane if not mud-caked roads of 17the century.

History / Query regarding AK casualty list for the Warsaw Rising [3]

Here is the list of those AK soldiers who were killed during the Warsaw Rising:

1944.pl/o_muzeum/o_nas/spis_powstancow/wirtualny_mur_pamieci/list/order/surname/direction/asc/

the AK in respect of AK "Killed in Action" during the Warsaw Rising, with circumstances of death?

That is not by all means a complete list:

List of people killed or died in the days of the Warsaw Uprising , the biographical notes are in the resource Wikipedia. This applies both soldiers , nurses , messengers , scouts , civilians supporting the uprising ( physicians, surgeons , priests ) , as well as victims of Nazi crimes - civilians not connected at the time of any military formation .

The mass exhumations , both soldiers and Rising civilian casualties , among other things, for fear of the outbreak of the epidemic started in early spring 1945 . , And lasted until 1948 . Invaluable in identifying the victims turned out to be a common practice identification data insertion into the bottle , which is then placed under the arm of the deceased. Formally, this issue is dealt with paper Ekshumacyjny the Town Board , and virtually mostly volunteers PCK [ 1] .

Similarly, if there exists any casualty list of Polish Officers KIA prepared by the Polish Army in respect of the battle of Kutno in September 1939?

You would have to look for the regimental list of casualties in this case.

I don't have to, I'm Polish.

so what? Would that grant you immunity from ignorance?
Apart from the fact that you are using a redundant word which mean nothing you are also posting sentences with the same content.

I've always used "No" as a harmless interjection, much the same way I'd use "Na" in German:

No, a mówisz po polsku?

If you were Polish that would/could be read as sign that you are inarticulate redneck.
