History / Poles back to the Elbe (Łaba)? [28]

Well...you can't say it wasn't on our own merit...in a way...:(

*goes drinking more coffee*

Well, I can and I do say it:)

We surely lost our lands in the east because of our own failure (starting the war), wouldn't you say so too?

I'll let you off the hook on this one but I will say that I was sorely tempted to really hold your comment against you (and I could do it well).

Oh come on...I give back as good as I take...someone tries to p*iss on me he better gets an umbrella! :)

I didn't hear a comment from you about Pollies fantasies either...

History / Poles back to the Elbe (Łaba)? [28]

For the most heinous blood-bath in mankind's history WW2),

Not to thourougly enough it seems....your ilk lives and is spilling their crap again...wanna have another go or is your big mouth running away with your senses again? Polish fashion??

But next time we won't make the same error and fight the Russians too...we will rather share you with them! Ooopsie, didn't it happened several times already??? ;)

:):):)

Be glad you got allotted what you did...independence, german lands....be grateful...nothing of it was on your own merit!

History / Poland provoked Germany to start WW2 by mobilising first [94]

I don't appreciate comparisons being made between this hardcore nazi b**ch, Steinbach,
and Theo Sarrazin - a patriot and very sensible man.

It's Thilo...not Theo....and he get's the same treatment from the self declared elite as does Steinbach for showing that the Kaiser is naked instead keeping up the lie that he has clothes on.

Alot of people give both grief for that.

They have alot in common actually...

But then...Sarrazins book is already a bestseller. They can't keep up with the demands.
And Steinbach got her baby, the dokumentation center...where everybody can see for himself what really happened. Inclusive photos, footage, dates and stats....
So...who cares if we butt heads on some internet forum or if some of you still deny it till thursday... :)

To all, u will find posts containing personal insults in the bin. thank you.

I found that bit especially interesting since so many Poles comforted themself for decades with the obligatory: "The Russians did it" which now substituted the "The Germans did it".

A Greater Poland till Rostock and Kiel without Germans innit already up in 1941...

How about
"Generalski Planski West"??? ;)

Germany has no reason whatsoever to go there again - it's at the top already and not by guns and terror, but economy and science.

*nods*

Something like Nazism is soooo out of fashion!

Germans are responsible for all Germans that died during and after ww2 it's about time you admit this.

Steinbach is soooo right!
You prove it over and over again...thank you!

I will agree to that nice and comfy theory of yours if you admit that the independence the Treaty of Versailles gave you led to your destruction during WWII, without Poland no WWII - so it's all the Poles fault. They should had stayed in Prussia inside the old borders and nobody would had been harmed! There would had been no reason to protest any treaty at all - ergo no Hitler - ergo no Nazis - ergo no war to redraw the borders again!

Easy there, isn't it! Time you admit this!

As a Pole, I really don`t know. Can you remind me?

How surprising!

How about the ethnical cleansing of millions of people...killing about a million of mainly women, children and elderly civilians in the process.

An acknowledgement at least would be a first step...nothing to speak of an apology (maybe later).

I mean isn't this what it's all about? Poles not wanting to know any of it - Steinbach not wanting to let it pass into history without any acknowledgement???

it seems most Germans are reasonable and know the truth and are not afraid to say it in public..

Well, now it's the Poles time to do the same...
Maybe then we too can say one day: "Good work Poles"

PS: Just in case you did miss it but Steinbach didn't say anything...she did took a stand before Arnold Tölg und Hartmut Saenger who said that Poland mobilizated in August 1939 before the german attack. Something what no serious historian denies actually...

But then...who cares, right? Riiiiight!

nobody in Germany pays her any attention.

I like her!
A tough lady...the CDU's loss :(

Without her Poland would still betotally in denial concerning the mass expellations...the centrum to commemorate the expulsions all over Europe after the war is HER baby, the Poles hate her for that and tried to pressure the german gov to stop it, but she prevailed....

Steinbach is a nutter. Nobody takes her seriously anyway. Why are we even discussing this?

I take her seriously...
Nutters are others!

Erica Steinbach has evolved into an embarassing creature for the Germans.

Oh no...

Like Sarrazin she is only an "embarrassment" for some in the gov, not for the people. Like with Sarrazin don't think for a moment she doesn't speak out what many think anyhow...

Like Sarrazin she is one brave and bold one for sticking the finger in an still open wound..not pretending there isn't any just because it's convenient for the "elites"!

;)

To all, all off topic posts can be found in the bin.

History / World War 1 - Poles on most fronts in Europe. Any good sites about it in English? [27]

Well he was cool! Beats Prussia, Austria and Russia! (Until he invaded Russia)

Since when does "beating countries" mean "cool" for Poles???
They should adore the Germans then! :):):)

BB do you know how Germans treated other minorities which were in the army? Like Jews for instance!

Nothing especially...besides that there have been Jews which got their Iron Crosses for Bravery too...

That was one point Hitler grappled with during his rise up....he even had to make concessions to Jews who fighted like any other Germans for the Kaiser.

An interesting example of jewish Germans experiences:
rubyfamily.blogspot.com/2006/08/german-jews-in-wwi.html

I couldn't find a thing about polish Jews in WWI though...there were drafted to, weren't they?

History / World War 1 - Poles on most fronts in Europe. Any good sites about it in English? [27]

A part of Poland then belonging to Russia was deliberately laid waste in order to deprive the Germans of the necessary supplies.

Scorched-Earth-tactic ?

Apparently both Germans and Russians stripped industrial equipment such as railways and carried it back to their respective countries in some places.

???

During the war it WAS german territory (the industrial equipment and railways being german build) and after the war as the borders were changed I don't think they had the possibility to strip something...

What is the author talking about?

Pilsudski always viewed a clash of the big powers as necessary for Poland to gain its independence.

Yeah...isn't it nice.
Millions of Europeans die with grave consequences for the near future (another war) but Poland profits...the same with Napoleon who is seen as a wannabe conqueror and dictator in most of Europe - besides Poland where he is seen as rather "cool".

;)

Makes it hard to find a common narrative of european history for all Europeans I would think...

History / When will you Poles give back German land and the cities which you robbed? [557]

good location in resourceful territory

Erm.... Countless neighbours? Most of it an indefensible plain without natural borders (prime battlefield for foreign armies), besides a bit of coal no natural resources to speak of....

relatively safe region of Europe.

You've got to be kidding! Ever heard of the 100 years war? The 30 years war? The liberation wars??? The countless other wars before WWI and WWII??

When Prussia gained power over German countries it imposed more ruthless style of policy : envy against strong , disrespect of the weak.

Oh puuuuleeeeese! You Poles have it with Prussia don't you! I'm not sure where you get your info from but if the rest of your post stems from the same sources then it's quite unrealistic!

That will be the warning for others, since God does not tolerate breaking His laws for too long.

*stops reading*

Back to bible studies for you and leave history for the grown ups...

Hard to say....but I don't remember that the territory of the future Poland was "ransacked and pillaged" during WWI (that was France mainly) and I really find it interesting that the Treaty of Versailles (there had been the new borders of Germany and Polands independence decided) wasn't even mentioned.

History / Poles organized the first strike in US in 1619 [72]

They didn`t teach you in German schools about millions (7) slave workers in Nazi Germany? Speer was one of those who supervised labour issues and was directly responsible for slaves` misery.

Well..someone had to do the work as all our able bodied men were on the fronts!

After the war alot of our men had to do slave labour in other countries...such were the times!

What did he get 20 years in Nurnberg for after all, huh? Any idea? Just because he was unlucky to be on the losers` side? :):):):)

Absolutely!
In the beginning he was thought to get a place on the death row too but that was crap as he was only an architect after all and to not to be seen as totally ridiculous they had to give him a 20 year sentence and yes, he just got it because he was on the losers side.

Oh come oooon...Speer on the "dark side of the german soul"????

He would be a feted economy and architecture expert today too..:)

Yeah...I know...you are a Pole but let me tell you success doesn't mean automatically something "dark" and "sinister" !

Me? No. But I thought you are....

Why???

Hitler didn't have the monopoly on smooth running, sleak, disciplined, beautiful machinery! :)

Hey, BTW, I am reading Speer`s diary now. He got 20 years for developing the machinery.

And you are still reading him...even after so many years! ;)
