The PISlamic state tend to do this sort of thing as a distraction. When they publicise one of these 'micro-revelations', (which usually just mean that a perfectly innocent person had been interviewed by the authorities against their will and there's a record of that), there's invariably something else that they'd rather the evening news didn't talk about.

One very heartening thing here. The sheer level of support for Salar, the Iranian owner of Brunet Kafe in Warsaw's Old Town, who had been threatened repeatedly by new-nazis. It seems that plenty of people are very happy with the businesses set up here by people who originally came as immigrants...

More fake news and ignorance from Bieggers, pronouncements about Poland from someone who has never visited here and has no direct experience of Poland or anywhere else in Europe. All of it cribbed from the Internet, since he has no actual experience of being here, even for a day.

Listing street skirmishes in the U.K., almost all of which happened decades before he was born is neither here nor there - perhaps he'll try and rant about non-existent "no go zones" next! Life in the UK is generally very harmonious - but it does help to have actually lived there (or even visited) to realise that.

Right now, there are millions of people in Europe with their roots far away who have a right to settle here. Some will, most won't. And so far, the settlement has been positive. More would be no bad thing at all.

I've lived in one and actually quite liked it while I was there. Nevertheless it was easier for me who could leave than for those who had to put up with it. Theocratic societies are a very bad idea. Living in a small town or village in a religious society isn't fun for a lot of people either. Can't be much fun growing up Amish if you dislike religion.

This is at risk of going off-topic, since it isn't the immigrants to Poland who are rtying to stop it being a secular plural society.

I think they ban people from entering for the next year or six months. Doesn't happen often, but it has certainly happened to an American, a Canuck and a Kiwi of my acquaintance, and to a Brit, pre-EU accession.

@JohnnyReb, that's spot on. I'd add though that most aren't like that. Unfortunately the few that are like that make the problem and prolong the hurt. Yes some of them do behave like they're minor deities (the phrase 'renowned Polish professor' is often bullsh1t) and there are a lot of problems in universities here. The faculty also often get extra wages for doing admin roles which are actually performed by real admin staff on much less money

Don't be silly, some of us have a higher moral compass than someone who would even think of things like that. As you thought of that. Though yes, I got the best grade (and not in the subject that the good person I mentioned taught) and no, wouldn't even have thought of putting out to a lecturer, and in any case most of mine were celibate.


They're a) much more conservative b) more likely to not put up with that *****, c) most Polish professors are ugly and best avoided ... but... d) of course it still happens.

Agreed. When I was at university a student (from I think Italy or Malta) didn't get the class of degree she wanted and tried to say she'd refused a lecturers advances. It didn't work, since the lecturer in question was very far from being heterosexual. Maybe some do it, and shouldn't - it's a form of abuse.

If of course all parties are of age and the lecturer/trainer/teacher in question has nothing to do with giving grades that contribute towards a final assessment it's a different mattter. When I first came to Poland and worked in in-company training there was a rule in the place I worked: 'no flirting unless appropriate'. Some very happy marriages resulted.
